Dear All,
Immediately after updating my Note 9 to the latest firmware featuring the new One UI two panels appeared on the right and left of the lower mid of the screen, they are restricting any touch on the screen next to them and I couldn't figure there use except as a back button whenever I swipe on them.
I've tried to remove them with no luck. Anyone is facing the same problem?
Are those panels from the Samsung ONE UI or they are from the Nova launcher?
I've searched the web and couldn't figure a way to solve the problem, I've went thru the settings of both the phone and Nova launcher with no luck.
Your help would be very much appreciated!
Thank you in advance .
check One Hand Operation + app settings
One hand operations + was the problem, uninstalled it and everything is back to normal.
Thank you!

So my home screen changed what can I do to fix it? when I tap home it goes to a different screen than it use to. I went into edit and tried to move them around to get the screen I had back to home but did not work. I have a icon on the bottom of one of the screens while in edit that looks like the home button and it stays on that screen no matter what I do. I moved that screen everywhere to far left to far right but it still stays as my home screen. I want my old home screen back Help me please.
I hope I have explained this correctly.....
What launcher are to using?
I am using what ever came on the phone I have not added a launcher
I do not use touch wiz. That is stock. I use launcher pro. Read this, maybe it will shed light
http://androidforums.com/captivate-...64-how-do-you-change-default-home-screen.html
I found that and read it while searching google for help but it did not help me I really did not want to add another launcher to the phone if I don't have to. And I tried all those things.
Thanks
From home, menu -> settings -> applications -> manage applications
Now you may need to hit menu -> filter and select All if you are using the stock launcher TwLauncher.
Find the current launcher select "Clear defaults". The next time you hit home it will prompt you to select a default again.
Thanks this is what I was looking for are to a tech person for this phone or what? I have search everywhere for an answer and have found nothing that is correct. I need your contact info in case I have other question or problems about the phone.
Thanks Again!
No just got my captivate in december. Have a tech background actually with blackberry. If you get stuck again just post here again, there are many helpful forum users.
First, thank you for the great information provided, and a GREAT thanks to the developers for not abandoning the captivate (like Samsung did). I could only imagine if you guys could build your own device with the tools they have...!
Anyway, I just flashed my first rom, Andromeda 1.0, and am noticing that when I unlock the screen, the first touch isn't recognized. I have to press somewhere on the screen, and then the second touch is recognized. It affects the bottom dock buttons as well, and it doesn't seem to matter how much time has elapsed. I can unlock the phone and press in 2 seconds, or 30 seconds, and it won't recognize the first touch, only the second.
I have launcher pro (paid) installed, but noticed it also affects the default touchwiz launcher as well. The only other thing I've changed was switching to the JL2 modem. I checked, and I can't clear cache for either touchwiz or launcher pro (if that would make a difference).
Just curious if anyone else has been affected by this, as it seems to be the ONLY problem I've had with this rom. Wifi works great, gps (as well as it can, lol) and everything else I've put it through. It's been very stable. I really like this rom, beside this one issue.
Any ideas? Re-flash?
Do you have fancy widget installed?
I found with fancy widget installed if you enable the live weather wallpaper that you have to touch the screen to unlock it (even after screen lock), and then you can touch your icons.
try this instead

Thanks guys.
I do have fancy widgets installed, and it looks like the live weather was causing the hold up.
Now on to 1.1
Hi,
I have a really strange problem. Yesterday I was playing with a game on my Galaxy S.
Suddenly the game started to lag and refuse input. The home key and the power button did not work.
So I took out the battery and restarted. I've done this before many times without problems.
But this time, after the reboot, I am missing 3 icons of the GUI: Phone, Contacts and Message.
I have only "Application" left, in the lower part of the screen.
I do not want to do an hard reset right now, I'm in vacation, I have many useful apps and don't
want to lose them right now.
I wish to kindly ask if some expert can tell me how to get my icons back !
Thank you !
Sergio
PS: my rom is a stock Samsung 2.3.4 and I have root access.
EDIT 1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've found this advice:
From the home screen, press Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Search for TwLauncher and clear the data stored in there.
but.... I cannot find TWlauncher in my Applications. Even changing language from Italian to english. Maybe it was on Froyo, and now on Gingerbread it has another name ??
EDIT 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After changing language, the name of some system application also change. But this seems a slow process. After 5 minutes from language change, I have finally found TWlauncher in my application list and following the advice i got my icons back.

When you open your Apps Drawer, are the Phone, Contacts and Messaging Apps still there?
If so, just press and hold the icon, then drop them back on your homescreen.

If you mean the quick launch bar at the bottom of the homescreen, do this:
Application -> *left menu button* -> edit -> drag&drop the apps you'd link to have there -> done!
Funny, I Was quite sure that the 3 icons were both in quick launch bar AND app drawer. So when I've found that solution I've seen that putting icons in quick launch removes them from app drawer. So I've tried the other solution but I found the same result.
Can you confirm that this icons normally stay in quick launch OR app drawer, and not in both ?
Thanks
Yep. When you drag an App to the quick launch bar, it isn't shown in app drawer anymore.
I am sure that this question has been asked before, but I have been searching and can't find it. I even expanded my search to Google in general and can't find anything. I'm sure that it's because I am not searching for the right thing, so this is my last "hope".... hehehehehe
So here is the question.
On my old Note 4, when I reached the last application screen (the screen that I had my icons for my apps) and continued swiping, it would "go back around" to the first screen of my application screens. With my Note 7, once I have hit the last application screen, continuing to swipe doesn't do any good. I'm stopped dead in my tracks and have to "back swipe" to get back to the first screen, or hit the Home button.
How do I get it to have the same behavior as my Note 4 had? I am very sure that I am missing something. I'm just not sure what I am missing.
Thank you.
I believe that was removed in the note 5 but either way it looks like the only way to achieve this is by installing a 3rd party laughter like Nova or Apex.
Bleh. That sucks.
Thank you.
Since I recently switched to a Galaxy S10+, I donated my Mi A2 to my girlfriend. After I fully wiped my phone, she installed it like any other new phone and finished the wizard. All her apps got reinstalled nicely and everything looked nice.
But now the home button (3 button nav) sometimes just stops responding to a single press. When I hold the button I do get the Google Assistant as expected, but single press doesn't take me to the home screen. After a reboot everything is back to normal, but only for a while. The button does show the colored dots when I press it.
What could be wrong? It looks a bit like some process is blocking it to prevent exiting a wizard or something (I had it once on a Pixal tablet, which thought I had the setup wizard open), but the back button does work as expected and I can navigate using different methods.

you need to.provide more info to get the right answer ..just use full screen navigation ...in settings try reassigning it different actions to see what happens ...but sounds like the delay between single press / long press for assistant is what is screwing you ...i disabled long press for assistant cos it kept giving me the assistant when i was trying to get home ....
but still.hard to say since you have 0 info about your problem here
The problem is that I don't have much more information as well. It's hard to reproduce the issue. We tried pinning and unpinning an app, opening different apps, changing the gestures, but nothing seems to trigger the issue.
I also tried gesture navigation, but that doesn't have a gesture for going directly back home. Also I think it's not possible to reassign the buttons on stock rom.
When I used the phone I never had this issue.

on my phone if i swipe up from bottom i go straight home ... by more info i mean
1. device/rom/version/root status/ launcher/ ...stuff like that
2.relevant fixes you tried ...
3. short video of when it happens
anyway .. i don't understand because you can choose what actions you want to happen in relation to the gestures ..so if you wanna go home in one shot assign that action to a specific gesture
have you ACTUALLY tried my fix of disabling google assistant ..so you don't trigger assistant or freeze by holding home button too long ..
try assigning double tap on home to go home ..as a workaround
The phone has no customizations at all: stock rom (Android One), no root, default Xiaomi launcher.
Version: Android 10, march security update (up to date according to Xiaomi)
With the gestures I can choose between:
- navigation using gestures
- navigation using 2 buttons (this is selected)
- navigation using 3 buttons
I have tried the first option. Swiping up does indeed go to the home screen when I'm in an app. But not to my default screen. Like when I swiped right to a different home screen page, it doesn't return to the first one.
I will try disabling opening the Assistant using the home button.

you should downgrade to pie because in 10 many people have lag , ui feezing and later on random reboots.. i think you will find in a month or two the UI will freeze up ..like what is happening now may be a "mini" freeze
pie is stable.. im on miui 12 official pie for wayne and wow am glad i dithed android1 and gave up my obsession of having 10 ..
I just upgraded because Xiaomi pushed the upgrade. And my girlfriend doesn't know how to downgrade.
Besides, I have been using the same phone with the same Android version for a few months without any issues. It's only since she started using it. That's why I was thinking about some wizard/setup preventing the use of the home button, which we had a few years ago on a tablet. But that was blocking more buttons then, so not exactly the same.

ok no worries... maybe the work around will work ..have tried to plau around with lawnchair as launcher and using its own built in gestures to trigger home
