Seems 3t struggles with same issues like it's predecessor, not receiving push notifications from some apps. In my case it's gmail and nine. For whatsapp it works fine.
Despite all apps I need are excluded from battery optimization not changing anything. Anyone experiencing same issue?

not recievin push nots either. wat does i do about it
Did you, by any chance, used Titanium Backup to restore apps from another phone?
If so, there you are. Apps with push notifications doesn't work properly if restore with Titanium.
Reinstall them from the play store.
Nope

I dont in fact see any pattern when notifications are working and when they are not working
Sometimes I am getting instant notifications, sometimes I have to unlock phone to receive them. Excluding apps from battery optimization does not make any difference
I use the phone and Newton for almost one week and I did not see any notification from the app at all and I receive a lot of emails daily.
Do you guys have blocked play services for backrgound connections?
I had done that and didnt recieve any notificiation anymore.
The Doze mode from developer options is the one causing it.

And how we fix that? I've got the same problem with the OnePlus 3 using Deviant Art app and I'm worried to have the same issue with the 3T!

have you noticed any improvement after updating to 3.5.4?
Try the following:
Step 1: Go to Settings > Battery
Step 2: Go to "Battery optimization" option from the top-right menu icon.
Step 3: Select "All apps" from the options to bring the list all the apps on which doze mode is enabled.
Step 4: Choose any of the apps on which you need to disable doze mode.
Step 5: Tap "Don't optimize" and then hit "Done".
This was my first thing to check - unfortunately didnt worked.
i need 10:crying:
Just wanted to bump this thread and see if there's a fix? Getting push notifications on Nine is extremely important for my job. I only get them reliably if I'm actively using my phone. "not optimized" for aggressive doze does not seem to help.
only the stock rom has this issue i was using grond zero rom but since i got my device from last 4 days , but has some issues like GPS and touch issue so i wanted to see if i have those issues in stock rom too or not so i flashed yesterday 4.0.2 and my notifications are also not working unless i open the app

This is exactly the same for me.
Gmail is the main App affected by this problem, but it is not the only App.
I tried the following settings (see screenshots - in French - in the attached file) :
- disable Doze mode in the Developer Options
- In the Battery Menu :
- Disable the aggressive doze and app hibernation option
- Disable the auto-close of "greedy" application
- In the App Menu/Setting Icon/Special Access/Battery Optimisation I white listed my fav Apps (Gmail, WhatsApp, ...)
None of this settings have totally solved the problem, which is really anoying for Gmail as I miss some important info because of delayed notifications (and sometimes no notification at all).
I opened a ticket at OnePlus : https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/random-delay-with-push-notificatio-ns.500958/
EDIT : I'm running the last version of OOS and doesn't use Greenify or such a kind of optimisation App
"Heartbeat fixer" app in Play Store did the trick for me! Also you have "push notification fix" in Play Store. Gime them a try.
With the way Huawei forces their "power saving" down our throats you are likely not getting all of your notifications for things like news apps and social media apps etc. I like their idea on trying to find ways to consume less battery, but man they are aggressive on the way they do it. Here is a fix that should work on all Huawei branded phones.
Step 1: First go to settings, advanced settings, battery manager and then to protected apps. Look for the app that you want to receive notifications from and then select "protect it".
Step 2: Go to settings, apps, advanced, ignore battery optimizations, then find the app and ignore it. This sounds kind of weird when you select ignore the app, but actually this means to allow it to run....... basically you are telling battery optimization function to ignore that particular app. Also known as "Doze"
Step 3: Go to settings, notifications panel & status bar, notification center, then find the app, then activate "allow notifications" and also "priority display". You must select priority or you won't get the notifications.
Works perfect for me. I spent countless hours trying to figure out why I didn't get notifications from my news apps and it drove me crazy. BTW....I have not experienced any battery drain at all.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO HIT MY THANKS BUTTON!!!

Hi, I have to say that Step 3 is not convincing.
Enabling priority display allow notification to appear during "do not disturb" mode. I don't want to be woke up during the night.

That is correct, but if you don't set priority you won't get the notification . Been there and done that ready. You can try not setting priority and see if works different for you, but when I turn off priority for the app I do not get the notification.
Please let me know if yours works differently as I am interested.

If you are right, then Huawei software developer must be brainless. For god sake, why on the earth getting a simple notification is so freaking complicated??
I'll try to set priority notifications, but even if it works it's not a solution for me.
I'll let you know man.
Thank you.
This one is working for sure, i found this solution out myself.
Push notifcations
To make push notifications work again create a widget (provided with the app) and place it on your home screen.
The widget will keep the services alive, even when you close the app in the taskmanager.
Make sure you toggle them on in the protected apps menu and put the powerplan on performance mode.
This works for all apps that came with the option to create a widget for it.

This sure would have been nice to have had this info prior to my 2 days of trial & error to get things working. As I do not receive or read all news outlets in regards to this phone, as is the case with many others, this was my sole purpose of my posting it here for others. In July I wasn't even considering this phone....actually I didn't even know this phone existed then. Another reason for my posting the info here. Luckily we have this forum as a go to place.

it works! but i have 2 questions :
disabling phone manager Causes problems? second : can i restore back phone manager?
I uninstalled phone manager, the method worked and got rid of it, Now I get better notifications but I'm still having the issue, still some notifications are not shown.
Deleting it does not solve 100% of the problem!
Ever since I've upgraded from Open Beta 4 to Open Beta 5 I can't toggle the option on. It's not greyed out but when I access the setting again, it's turned off. It also doesn't work as I receive notifications about battery draining apps.
The "lock" in recent apps view is not checked for the apps I get notifications for.
I've already wiped cache+dalvik but of no avail.
Does anyone else experience this? Any ideas on how to fix this?
If you need further information just let me know.
Cheers and thanks in advance!

Yeah, you're right. Didn't check that, thanks alot!
I've optimized all apps now - But how does that affect receiving notifications? Especially messaging apps?
I assume that they will still work if I don't use the advanced optimization, am I correct?

For me worked on my EVA-AL10 that you create a widget from whatsapp (the first one with the unread messages) and put it on your homescreen. Now WhatsApp is forced to run in Background and you receive the push notifications.

What other apps do you have ? I think it works with every app that has widgets. I suggest that you make a page with all the widget for the apps.
For me the problem sovled after i debranded my EVA-AL10 to L-09 and flashed BluWei. So I think the problem only existed with the Chinese Rom.
Other methods:
Try Settings>Apps>Settings>Special Access>Ignore Battery Optimization. On the dropdown select all apps and search Whatsapp and click on it. Then select allow. Now it should run in the background.
The last thing that i remember doing is turning Whatsapp (or any other app) in a system app. You need root and i used the app "/system/app mover":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.systemappmover
Just click on the app you want to convert and press ok. Then reboot your phone. The only problem i had was that the /system partition wasn't very big so i could only convert like one or two apps (this changes with different phone/system versions)
If this doesn't work I would recommend installing an other rom like Magic Rainbow, Moonlight, Bluwei (all emui based) if its a big problem for you
I'm a Xiaomi 11 ultra MIUI 12 user ... why doesn't the incoming WhatsApp call appear on the screen?

See permissions in the Whatsapp app from the apps menu in MIUI.

I remeber it was something to do with displaying over other apps i think

Clear cache and if problem persist data
I just got my 11 ultra with cn ROM. Trust me, nothing you do will make it ring. Pretty much just flash to global ROM or eu ROM. I flash to eu ROM and everything works great. Gpay, Google duo, whatsapp calls, all notifications. Save the trouble and upgrade your software. There is a new stable version of global miui 13 just released and apparently it is also great so maybe try that
