**PHONE SPECS**
OnePlus 3t~ ver. 8.0, storage is only half full, no water damage or any damage of any kind
Like the title says, my phone is just restarting over and over again. This happening out of no where yesterday. I simply put my phone to charge and when I came back it was like someone is holding down the power button.
What I have tried so far is get to screen with the Chinese letters,^sorry ^I ^don't ^know ^what ^this ^screen ^is ^called .^All ^I ^know ^is ^that ^you ^hold ^volume ^down, so I can factory reset it but, the phone quickly restarts so I was not able to.
I also tried using a oneplus3t unbrick program I found while searching for possible answers but that program was unable to work on my computer. Hopefully someone can help with that
The good news is that I was able to back up my phone so I have no problem resetting it.
All help is welcome; Thank you!
If you hold the power button for a long time does it shut off and stay off? If so. That is the time try and enter recovery. While it's restarting it will be difficult. Try with the phone off. If you can get to recovery you should be able to either restore to your backup or flash a diff build. I would also download the latest stable build to your PC first. If you can get to recovery and connect your phone to the pc and have it recognized by the pc, you should be good.

Sorry for the late reply, I was in class
When i hold the power button it does not turn off it just continues to restart. The only way it "turns off" is when I plug it in to a power source or my computer. But it will turn on and do a bootloop at random intervals and at random times. When it is plugged in my computer, I can not find it in the device manager. And when it appears, it quickly disappears.
Speaking of downloading a build onto my computer, how would I go to do that? Is there a detailed tutorial I can follow.
Can you get into fastboot (power & volume up)?
If you can you could clear the cache via command line to see if something in there is the culprit.
Update
Out of frustration of nothing working, I left my phone to die for 3 days straight( i didn't touch or move it) and on the 3rd day I charged it. And it works now!! Idk if it was hardware or software but it works and I hope it continues do so.
Just as a note this phone as no water damage and very minimal physical damage so I have no idea what happened. Thanks to everyone who pitched in ideas

Hello All
I did search the forum and still not answer for the stranger reboot loop.
I got a phone call, and answered it. The reception was crappy and hear no voice. I then looked at the phone to see if call had dropped and it was frozed on the incoming call screen. I then pulled the battery and pressed the power button to turn on the phone and It would not power on. After multiple battery pulls and many many power button presses, still nothing. It was like it was out of battery. It was stitting on the home charger before i left the house. Prior to this the phone worked fine. Over the past week or two I had to do a battery pull may be 3 times.
I got to my car and plugged it into the charger and the orange charge led came on, on the front of the device. I then pressed the power button and it vibrate once as normal and then went to the multi-colored nexus "X." he screen went black and then vibrated once again and and was back at the mulit-colored "X." Then the loop starts.
In between the restarts I try to get it to boot into the bootloader by using the "vol down and power" and the "trackball and power button" and the white screen for the boot loader flashed for a milisecond the goes to black. As long as I hold the "vol down" button the while bootloeader or recovery screen flashes every 4-5 sec for a milisecond. As soon as I let go of one of those button, it automatically goes to the full reboot loop.
THis all happens when it is plugged into a power source. As soon as i unplug it, it goes back to the power button not responding. Again it acts as if it has no battery power. But it is in the 90%.
So i am unable to do any other step as in reflashing, and or doing a recovery.
ANY IDEAS any one.
I was running Cyanogen RC3. the latest rom with amon RA 1 7 1, korean radio 5.0.8
It was running perfectly up till today. when it went into its loop.
ANY HELP WOULD BE AWESOME
THanks in advance
DD
Plug it in to the USB, adb reboot recovery, reflash rom. Or even wipe and reflash if needed.
Sounds like it could be hardware the way you have to hold the keys down and you said it wasn't responding to the power button press.
ok thanks, ill give it a try.
here is my only issue. I am not using my original computer Mac. I just sent it out to apple for repair. So i am using my companies computer. I need to set up the AndroidSDK to be able to talk to the nexus. Since the phone will not turn on i can not load the drivers. and ive tried every way and it has not installed and i cant check because it wont stay on. it just goes to the loop. and it wont turn on if its not plugged to a power source.
Any ideas or suggestion.
SOrry I am an noob, so could you please be specific in your instructions.
I as of right now have insalled the Android SDK and i am unable to see the serial number (working on an old dell, running XP sp3) because it wont turn on.
It cant manually install the drivers because I cant turn the phone on to specify the drivers.
and
I using USBDeview, the phone also has to be on to erase all HTC previously installed drivers. i think. but there were none in the usb log...i think becuase they didnt install...agains because it would not power on...:-(
any ideas...please
DD
Also
Sorry excuse me if its a sort of a duhhh question...
even if i am able to load the device bridge, if the phone will not boot can i still flash another rom, or do a recovery. The phone is not getting past the Multi-colored "X" ???
DD
It should still read the commands when it's trying to boot. You don't need to turn the phone on at all to be able to install the ADB drivers, they are independent of each other.
As strange as it started, is a strange as it went.
This morning open the phone to pull the sd and the sim to put it in a throw down phone. I replaced the battery and cover and just hit the power button. The phone does a full boot and it appears to be working properly. the sd card and sim are fine. I the odd thing is i did this multiple times yesterday and last night. I pulled both sim and sd, replaced the battery and tried to boot with the same issues as named above with nothing different.
I left the phone on charge last night and it was charging for close to 8 hours and it was still showing the orange charging light.
So after it booted this morning, and i checked everything. It showed the same amount of charge as yesterday, right before it froze, which was 75%. So that is another strange occurance.
I plan on reflashing the rom and seeing how things go.
I thank you for your assistance and time.
appericate you helping out a clueless noob.

When I tried to disable the voodoo lagfix my phone froze, after about 20 minutes i decided to pull the battery and now the phone freezes when trying to boot and even after plugging in the charger, it freezes on the battery load symbol. Unfortunately, the 3 button way to get to the recovery menu doesn't work. help me please??
I'm having the same problem - phone just hung on the kernel load screen (firebird 2) after trying to shut off lagfix - although I can get to a red recovery mode menu. Not that it's helping at this time. It would be nice if I could recover without a clean wipe of the phone.
Anyone have any ideas. I'll be scouring the threads...
You could try making a jig and flashing to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841512
how are you getting to the red recovery menu?
i have the same kernel and i'm running the firefly 1.5 rom
I can't boot into anything and the only solution i have so far is to make a jig or buy one and not have a phone for a little bit, which is going to suck..
I've tried the following combinations, just because I know people are going to ask.
1. take out battery, sim, etc.
2. leave out for about 15 seconds
3. plug in the battery, plug in usb and hold two volume buttons-> freezes while trying to load battery status
3.b same precedure as above except plug in usb first hold volume buttons then battery-> still frozen
3.c hold volume buttons, battery, then power button, let it cycle atleast 2 times and let go of power at att logo while holding the volume-> frozen at kernel loader
3.d same as above but with only one volume button at a time, both up and down-> no cigar
3.e all the precedures above while wildly pressing all the soft keys (home, search, yadda yadda) out of frustration -> thinking, gosh i'm screwed
did i miss out any secret other combinations or methods known to work?
I'd really like to do this without hardware, but making a jig kinda sounds like a fun project and i do have a soldering iron in storage somewhere...

I'm afraid not. This happened to someone I know and they told samsung the OTA update bricked it and AFAIK they fixed it for free. They never tried using a jig though, so if you don't want to wait to replace it or anything you could try a jig since it might work and the parts are pretty easy to get (and if you'd be replacing the phone, a jig is ALWAYS good to have anyway)
Just another note to throw in there, the computer recognizes the phone, but strangely my computer freezes while trying to read the media storage drives. I can't tell if the internal sd is mounted because of the ever-lasting wait but i'm almost positive its not.

nope, it says "error device is offline"
You could try ... when the phone is booting and trying to catch it before it freezes is spam the heck out of the command adb reboot download then after hitting the enter button hit the up arrow and keep repeating until either the phone a) hopefully goes into download mode or b) freezes and throws the error.
Who knows.. might get lucky.

it connects even though the phone is frozen. I'm heading over to "The Shack" pretty soon and just making a jig.
Thanks for all your help everyone.
Edit: Just confirming that with much dedication and a steady hand I finally have my captivate up and running with the help of the resistors. I also flashed the 3 button fix stock rom.
Well, I kept trying the least invasive methods first. Tried to reflash Firebird. Then went adb and such. In the end, it was pretty clear that it had hung at the lagfix correction, and I was dealing with a file system error. I was eventually able to get into download mode. The hardest discovery was finding that I had gotten the wrong drivers from samsung. The ones in the [stock rom] odin master clear page were what I should have been using. When I loaded those, the computer recognized that I had a phone and not a "serial gadget" and then I knew I was close. Odin finally saw the phone, and a couple tries at "light" re-stocking failed at file analysis, so I did the repartition (aha, file system error), and it shot through the whole process and I had my phone back and flashed to Serendipity in about 20 minutes.
But I would like to know about the red menu. That was unexpected (blue for standard, green for cwm).
No need for a jig. I had access to some phone functions, most importantly, download mode.
It started as soon as I received a phone call from my brother and we were in the middle of a conversation when the phone suddenly goes off. I tried to restart it, I even removed the battery and replaced it but when I press the power button I get the initial boot sequence showing the htc logo and then the phone would just go of. I thought that maybe the battery is low but when I plug it to a power outlet it keeps trying to boot but keeps switching off and it just does this over and over.
Please I don't know if anyone has encountered this problem before, I really don't know what to do.

Try a Hard Reset using the device buttons:
1. With the phone off. If it’s frozen or unresponsive, pull then replace the battery.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons and power the phone back on.
3. Continue to hold Volume Up and Volume Down until a factory reset screen appears.
Hope this helps!

Well I just did that but the problem persist. I should note that occasionally it does complete its boot up and I can use the phone but it can go off at any time and once it does this, i cannot get it to completely boot up. Once it attempts a boot up and goes off I cannot even restart it by pressing the power button until I replace the battery or plug it into a power socket or the computer at which point it will just keep booting up and shutting down.
Something far wrong there. Get a replacement device.

Hi, I have got the same problem on my HD7 and I am completely noob to many new words Goldcard, jailbroken, etc. Would you please advise me exactly what you did (i mean flahing procedure) and really appriciate any help.
Well if you have got an O2 HD7, then I would advise you to get one of the O2 ROMS from ansar, download it then press and hold the volume down button when booting up your device, connect the phone to your pc and start the app. More instructions in the HD7 development thread.
There's nothing wrong the phone. Don't hard reset or flash it. It happens from time to time, just give it some time and eventually you will see a battery icon appear. Then after awhile it will boot up.
Again, do not flash or hard reset just be patient. I believe it just needs to drain all the way down as it doesn't have enough power to fully boot.
Not booting up
Hi,
My T Mobile hd7 is been restarting after it shows the htc logo..It was all of a sudden after i connected to my pc this happened ...Tried to flash it with ansar tmobile update..problem persists...Dont knw how to use goldcard..please help me out..
Thank u and Best Regards
Hate to be that guy, but alas I am
I flashed my Captivate with the latest Twingerbread ROM. Everything was running nice and smooth until I decided to use a Galaxy S Mod tool from the market place to change my battery icon.
Long story short the phone is now stuck trying to boot. It will run the Twingerbread loading animation for a few seconds, flash a screen that says
Candidates:
Preparing external SD Card
and then continue with the loading animation.
Before this happened I had been able to force download mode using only the volume up/down buttons, that is no longer the case. I have tried using adb to access and force download but the phone isn't found whether powered off or in it's current "loading" state. ODIN is able to recognize it as a COM:7 device but fails to flash it.
I'm in a bit over my head here, anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
Try this:
Open Odin and plug the cable into your computer only not your phone
Remove your battery from your phone
Wait 30 seconds and put it back in, don't turn your phone on
Hold both volume buttons down and then plug the cable into your phone, it should go into download mode.

Thank you for the suggestion but I can't get that to work for me. I tried it multiple times but it simply loads the charging screen. I have heard the term jig thrown around a time or two in here but can't seem to find any more info on it. Would that be my next step?
Yes if that doesn't work then you will need to get a jig to force download mode. Look here....http://www.mobiletechvideos.com/blog/?page_id=100
Good Luck
Nice, I don't have to make it even. Thanks for helping the noob out, jhernand1102. Hopefully this cures my issue.
HELP! My Xperia SP is dead after unlocking bootloader with official way!
It won't turn on even when I tried to boot it up by connecting via usb to laptop.
I tried to charge it, but it's useless
I also tried to force restart it from restart button but it doesn't wake up
HELPP! :crying:
#UPDATE: By some miracle, the phone boots itself up and get working again. All apps are gone (like factory reset). It shut down about 2 hours then suddenly it came back to life. Still don't get it why this can be happening though. But thank God!

Have you tried the OFF button on the back?
You should try to connect your phone to pc, press volume button and keep it pressed. Then without releasing the volume button, press the restart button on the back until you see the led (blue or green depending on the volume you pressed). This means you have at the same time : usb + volume + reset button on the back.
You should keep it pressed during 3 to 15 seconds. If this doesn't work, put your phone to charge (on wall charger and preferably with stock charger) during 1-2 hours and try again.
Try reflash a stock ftf
Please provide more information to the things you did. Did you use EMMA or FLASHTOOL?

I have the same problem now and you made my hopes up. I was on PAC rom, normally working, but when i picked up my phone, it wasn't responding, OFF button isn't doing anything and my PC even doesn't recognize the phone over USB. So i hope it will be working again later. :fingers-crossed:
Edit: 12 hours later and still no signs of life, so im' doiwnloading ftf and i'm going to try flashing it...
Make sure you have the driver installed for your phone.
1. Download, install and run the driver update utility. Here's the link where you can download it.
http://www.driverscape.com/download/xperia-sp
2. If it doesn't detect your phone, download flashtool from here:
http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
Make sure you have the latest ftf image in order to flash to your phone. You can download from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964
3. Make sure your phone is off by force shut down (clicking the OFF hard key in the back)
4. Open flashtool. Press and hold the volume down key and then connect your phone to the computer by USB.
5. The notification bar will light green indicating that it is connected in flash mode.
You can then follow instructions on how to flash through Google search. If you are able to reach step 5 and don't know how to flash, let me know.

Thanks, i know how to flash ftf, but my phone shows no signs of life, when plugged to charger, the LED doesn't light up and i can't go to flash mode aswell. So now it seems that the only thing i can do is to take my phone to repair, as it seems there is some hardware problem...
Dead Xperia SP Also
I have same situation since 21st of December.. I left my Phone on. When I was going to bed. I woke Up and saw this fuzzy blank grey screen, then I pressed the reset button at the back of the phone thinking all will be fine, But since then I've been battling with it. First, No sign of life after plugging, then a day later after I left it connected to my PC, The LED LIGHT turned red, but dead screen. About 15MINS later it goes off, Then comes up again (LED LIGHT) I've tried connecting to PC, it recognises it for about 4seconds and it disconnects automatically, I've tried practically all the method I saw on here.. Rubber band trick, leaving it to charge all night connected to wall charger / PC..All proved abortive, I have been trying to get the MAGIC green LED LIGHT (FLASHMODE) but it never works.. I took it to a repair shop (NOT SONY) He said he only deals with HARDWARE that it wasn't hardware problem, and they then went ahead to flash it.. (I'm out of warranty) STILL NO LUCK.. I'll be glad if anyone can guide me through or come up with a Plausible SOLUTION, 'cause my BREAK has been horrible since my PHONE went M.I.A..... Thank you GUYS
So, finally I'm going to pick up my repaired SP :fingers-crossed:. They thought it was a problem caused by the reset button pushed too hard, but since they've informed me they've changed whole motherboard, the problem must have been somwhere else, maybe they'll tell me where.
(And it seems that despite the fact i've unlocked the bootloader and flashed ROM on it, they will accept it as a warranty repair, because i think they weren't able to get to know that )
My XSP must really hate me. After less than a week since i've picked it up from the repair, it's dead again (everything tried - reset button, leaving it to charge, usb) with no signs of life ... I guess there must be a much bigger problem than just motherboard That means another two weeks with my old slow LG OO. I'm gonna die without it, i've maintained almost a month without it back then, but i had a tablet borrowed for a review. Now it's worse...
Maybe they should give me another XSP instead of trying to repair this one again...
have you considered about the battery?
the battery might be dead for all we know
That may be the problem, but i must also keep in mind that it had its motherboard changed a week ago. Anyway, i took it to the service again, they also said that charger may be causing it, but battery seems more logical to me as there were no problems with charging.
So i have to wait another two long weeks and then i'll know what was it...
