Can't load Android system?? - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

Hi,
after upgrading to the 22Jan2019 version my device won't boot, instead I have a 2 second screen saying something like "Can't load Android system ..." I tried to apply the upgrade again in the recovery mode by sideloading, but it said failed to open driver control and directory was not found after transfer was complete. I tried to start TWRP from fastboot, but the console was ever saying "waiting for device" ... any Idea how to proceed from here?
That would be great!
Cheers

Can't Get Out of Bootloader

Here is my problem. I flashed the HTC Google edition of Android 4.3 using ClockworkModRecovery and my phone then started going through a boot loop (the white HTC screen would repeat over and over). I don't have any other ROMs on the SD card to install and I don't have a backup in CWMR to revert back to my old ROM. I've tried side loading a ROM but everytime I do that, the cmd prompt says either device not found or it will say list of devices but nothing is listed. I've made sure my drivers are up to date, I downloaded the latest SDK and downloaded the tools for 4.3, 4.2.2, and 4.1.2. I even tried putting the stock Sprint RUU back on my phone but when I run that it says that it can't update my phone (and I did lock the bootloader for this procedure). I am kind of at a loss for what to do. Is there anyway for me to get a ROM on the SD card so that I can load it in CWMR without using sideloader? I obviously can't remove the internal SD card and I can't get it to show up as a removable device on my computer because I don't have a ROM that my phone can boot on.
its about time people read before flashing incompatible roms
Yeah I realized that after the fact, any ideas on what to do?

Thanks for the help so far. I've managed to get another ROM on the SD card (using adb push) however, when I try to install it through TWRP, I get the message
Error flashing zip ' /data/local/tmp/CM.zip
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to mount internal storage.
Also, when I try to sideload via TWRP, when I am on my phone and try to start ADB sideload within the recovery, it says failed, so I don't even have the chance to sideload a ROM from my computer.
Also, I tried turning S-OFF and when I use the command ./revone -P I get this message back
revone failed (error code = 1)
Any ideas on what to do next?

Okay I was able to flash a new zip. There was something up with my SD card that was preventing me from successfully flashing ROMs via TWRP, but I went into fastboot on my phone and then from the cmd prompt ran fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
After running that command, I went back into recovery and installed the Cyanogenmod zip and it ran fine.

[Q] Tough time going back to stock

I've been running CM 11 for a little more than a month and have been really enjoying it. So, I have no idea why I decided to download the MythTools and revert back to stock At&t. Doing so, I messed something up on my phone.
To start, I'm using Windows 7 64bit and when selecting option 1 (install ADB-fastboot-apkTools) I get the new cmd window that states "please select install button after new window is opened press any key to continue...." when I press any key the cmd window would just close. Hoping it would help, I then chose option 6 to update my Motorola drivers. When my browser window opened I got the ADB installer window and clicked install. It seemed to have installed fine. I then updated my moto drivers. Thinking I was all set I went for option 2 to flash the stock firmware which I had put in the firmware folder. With my phone in fastboot I started the process and it failed. Reading through the cmd prompts I had noticed it said something like 'you selected 2- instal cwm.img cannot load cwm.img' . I unplugged my phone and tried to restart it and it was stuck on the bootloader screen. I then restarted into recovery and my PhilZ recovery did start up. However it displays "E: could not mount /data to setup /data/media path!" . I was still able to go through the process of a clean re-install of CM 11 but am stuck on the startup splash screen for CM.
I definitely got myself in way too deep and am clueless on how to fix this. Would someone mind instructing me on what to try next? Many thanks in advance.
I am not sure if it would make a difference in your situation but I do everything for my phone on an x86 system. I have had issues with LG and Samsung phones in the past when trying things on an x64 computer.

you said you are stuck on startup splash meaning bootloop? if it is you should try again with rsd lite.
else you may lose all your data in the memory but do a format media/data and sdcard, so that it can mount /data, it worked for me. then format system mount everyting and do a fresh install of any rom you can sideload or just have it in the sdcard.
I'm pretty sure I am doing something wrong with MythTools. When I select option 2 in the tool to install stock firmware the following happens,
- asks for fimware folder example and I select "N"
- asks if firmware files are finished copying.. I press enter and continue
-then it says "the system cannot find the path specified
the system cannot find the path specified
the system cannot find the path specified
'7z' is not recognized as an internal or external command
operable program or batch file
Are you ready to flash stock fimware...
at this point i stupidly hit enter and that was it with my phone. I'm guessing the tool could not locate the firmware .xml file for extracting and I have no idea why. The compressed folder is IN the firmware folder.
One other question with Mythtools, when installing the tools what path do you want them installed in? I did them in the same file the Myth tools are in.

Disclaimer: Even though this worked for me I am not responsible if you brick your phone, I am simply sharing my experience
Okay, this is not for the faint of heart and is going to sound a little backward but it just worked for me 5mins ago. I am running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, so there shouldn't be a problem with your setup. I was having the same problem until I just double clicked on flashing.bat or main.bat instead of running as admin. After all I AM the admin of my PC. Then, it worked perfect...until flashing the tz.mbn file and froze up while writing the file. I thought mmm...it shouldn't take that long to write such a small file, and writing happens on the phone side (I believe) so I hit the phone's power button while leaving the Myth Tools window open, which disconnected the phone obviously. I booted back into fastboot and it continued from where it left off. (Note: I did this a few weeks ago when I lost my radios and manually flashed the modem file, which froze, but I followed the same procedure and it successfully flashed it) Then when it got to the last system.img chunk (it writes it in small chunks of 30mb and the last one is smaller, that's how I knew it was the last one) it froze again. I let it sit for about 5mins just to make sure it was written to the phone the repeated the sequence to reboot manually into fastboot and bang, once again it continued right where it left off. one or two more freezes and voila...it rebooted right back to stock. Any questions don't hesitate to ask.
If this helps you hit that thanks button!

Bricked MemoPad 7 WW_K013 and little knowledge on next steps

I have managed to screw myself by wiping the OS without a backup when I got TWRP up and running and ended up with what essentially is a bricked MemoPad. It said in droidboot mode the version is WW_K013 and the Android it ran before I wiped it was 4.4.2.
I was hoping to install this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/me...-unofficial-lineageos-16-0-asus-memo-t3929600 to get it up to Android 7 but every attempt at installing one of the mentioned archives always ends in failure.
All I have managed to get up and running was TWRP. I did not use an SD card (only one I have keeps saying write protected, and even using diskpart clear readonly attributes doesn't seem to work) so I just dragged the archives into the tablet itself on its internal storage and attempted to install them via TWRP from there. I don't know if this is even possible to do.
Attempting to install the Lineage OS package as is gave me:
E: unkown command [log]
Attempting to Install the ESP 0.3.0.zip simply says
"Error flashing zip '/sdcard/esp-0.3.0.zip' (dunno why it says it's in sdcard when I clearly ain't using one)
And attempting to do a fastboot devices on cmd gives me an empty list even when the tablet is plugged in on my pc (the list was showing up on work laptop earlier, but doesn't show up on pc, so something is missing in this case). I used the Windows Zip for platform tools from here:
https://wiki.lineageos.org/adb_fastboot_guide.html
and added its path to environment variables to recognize fastboot command
What would the next logical step be for me? Every option I've tried has failed thus far. I'm trying to install Android Studio maybe fastboot recognizes the device when the Studio is installed and is up and running, since my work laptop had the full Android studio in place.
UPDATE: Kept messing about, when I exited TWRP and reloaded in fastboot the devices was indeed listed under fastboot when I ran the command (duh). Attempted to run the fastboot flash ESP esp.img but I got a "Can't find OSII index!!" error instead.
Still not sure what to do with that. The tablet itself says FAIL(flash_cmds error!)
Solution to this problem that I just finally did:
I acquired the basic ROM from this resource, quoted below: https://forum.xda-developers.com/memo-pad-7/general/me176c-x-collection-roms-updates-t3012965
WW .182 ROM

It's important to extract this zip file to get another zip file, and then use that zip file to install using TWRP.
To install TWRP (temporarily, have to redo each time you exit recovery) I used the following resource:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
And once TWRP launched, I dragged the file using my Windows pc to the internal storage of my K013 (When TWRP is launched it makes the device accessible on PC)
I chose Install and selected the zip file mentioned above to install. Took a short while but executed successfully. I could once again use my Tablet.
Next up I'll need to figure out how to get it to Lollipop from 4.4.2 and possibly move on to install Lineage OS and get it up to Android 7+ But that's for later. :silly:
i need help
hello i have a asus memo pad 7 k013 which come whit kikat 4.4 i decided to install lineage os 14 but searching in xda get that i have to upgrade to android 5 lollipop well first i installed this TWRP from here
https://www.htcmania.com/showpost.ph...69&postcount=7

Need help - Stuck on recovery screen - Hard brick ?

Hi guys !
I tried to install Lineage OS 17.1 on my Xperia Z3 compact and everything went well until I installed the openGapps (before reboot like tutorial said). I'm now stuck on the recovery screen where this message appears :
"Can't load Android system. Your data may be corrupt".
as well as the following error:
"E: Failed to bind mount /mtn/staging/emulated/media/0 to /storage/emulated: No such file directory"
I can "Try again" or "Factory Data reset" but neither option works! In both cases I'm stuck here again. I can't even turn off the phone or reboot via adb shell either since it is now recognized as "unauthorized".
I read a lot of topics but I have not find an answer.
Can it be an hard brick ? Please help. Thx
Try reinstalling stock ROM using Flashtool.

Question Stuck in Recovery (resolved)

Dear guys,
I'm in a situation where I don't know what's best to do, honestly I was left with android 11 where everything was much simpler.
my xiaomi started from OEM miui 13 on which I installed twrp 3.7 with the " Onekey inject TWRP " method, I understood that the method was wrong with android 12 but the phone worked (in recovery mode it did not read the touch).
I loaded the same twrp from fastboot mode, I do a backup of everything (copied to the computer), and trying to install miui.eu, but the phone gave me the following "error "ERROR: 1 / can not mount system".
I tried with the twrp by skkk, launched from fastboot mode, I started the dirty installation of the miui.eu and when finish to install I pressed "Install Recovery Ramdisk".
I restart the phone but after two restarts it returns to recovery, i thought the problem was the dirty installation, so i went to "format data".
From this moment the phone restarts only in recovery, the phone memory is encrypted and cannot find any content (the phone has no password set), connecting it to the computer I cannot copy any content but it is read from fastboot mode.
The errors that appear on the phone are "Failed to mount '/system_ext' '/product' '/vendor' '/odm' (Invalid argument)"
How should you continue? I have no problem to losing any data.
do you recommend to flash a fastboot rom with Miflash?
Thanks a lot
