Cannot use new roms - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I rooted and flashed an anroid 9. pie but this is too slow to use. what should I do? turning back to stock rom or an old rom like kitkat 4.4.4 ?
I also tried to flash some stock project from here but it didnt work. so pls help!
my device:
sony xperia z3 compact d5803
built no (before root)
23.5.A.1.291

I haven't had a Z3c a while now but try MarilliaDeOliviera's Experience ROM.
It's a Marshmallow 6.0.1 ROM but it is fantastic for everyday use.
Because the screen touch response is fantastic and feels very snappy and smoother compared to other ROMs. None of that jittery or slow heavy scrolling nonsense.

Flash latest stock ftf first then do this.

the problem is stock rom is not working. its on boot animation loop.
what to do then?

Don't know why it's doing that but we don't need to boot stock ROM up in order to flash a custom ROM .
Just enter fastboot mode and flash the latest TWRP for z3c via ADB command.
Then boot in TWRP and connect USB to PC and copy the ROM that you downloaded to your phone and flash it.

I think those old ROMs need a 4.4.4 kitkat base. So there are some instructions for downgrading. I will try then flash stock one
but tools are too complicated for me

You're using Flashtool to flash to stock, or what?

later that, I used a flashtool called "emma" and it flashed to stock marshmellow and made it unrooted!
also my recoveries twrp and cwm gone. I did not mind because it was faster but this time it turned out the old problem again. When i locked the phone, it shows black screen illuminated! what a sick problem it is. I want to flash a old custom rom like kitkat 4.4.4 or whatever stable and faster. but I cant install twrp. how to do?
what to do now?

I can't help you with custom ROMS (not my thing), but if you want to get back to stock 4.4.4:
Get one of the stock ROMs from:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/list-stock-firmwares-d5803-d5833-t2906706 (2nd post)
Then use this Flashtool. It's unofficial, but it is the best Xperia flasher out there:
http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
It's pretty simple to use. The first link has instructions on how to flash using Flashtool. This will remove root/Superuser and remove custom recovery, so you can start fresh.

I used LOS 14 and it was super fast on z3c. The LOS 16 is a bit slower but it is not a problem in normal use..

Xperia Z not booting anymore

Hi People,
I'm new here and I do have a problem over, as the title says, my Xperia Z (C6603) won't boot up anymore.
Yesterday I unlocked my bootloader, I also rooted my phone and installed Cyanogenmod 12 afterwards using TWRP, this was working perfect and stable.
Today I found out my phone wasn't rooted at all after I installed Cyanogenmod 12. So I wanted to start over again using this way (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/guide-how-to-root-10-5-1-0-283-t2872873).
So what I've basically done, I installed Xperiaz_10.5.A.0.230_kernel_only.ftf over the CM12 mod, after this my phone doesn't want to boot anymore, getting stuck at the the 'Sony' logo.
Tried to do TWRP -> Factory reset, but it didn't work.
Should I install a full .zip stock rom again instead of the FTF file to restore my old rom?
Kind regards,
xChillz
My root guide and the files provided there are for rooting the 2 stock roms in the thread title only.
You cannot flash a stock kernel onto a custom rom. This is why your device isn't booting.
You can get your device booting in a couple of ways:
1. Extract the boot.img from the Cyanogenmod rom zip and flash it using fastboot. This should allow you to boot into your CM12 rom again.
2. Flash a stock FTF. This will bring your phone back to complete stock. How to package and flash stock roms in FTF format

Thanks for the quick reply!
Could you tell me where I can get a 10.5.A.0.230 stock FTF or can I just Google it?
xChillz.
Thanks bro,
Installed the 10.5.A.0.230 stock FTF, then I installed CM12 and it works!

[Q] Q: Stock vs Custom ROM on SP

Hello XDA community.
I own an XSP. It's laggy, crashes randomly every now and then, and in general it is a subpar experience. So at long last i am thinking of flashing a custom ROM on it, but the thing is i am a complete newb. I have been looking into it a lot and i familiarized myself with the general steps of a flash but i cant seem to decide between all the roms. Right now i am leaning towards BlissPop 3.5.
So, tell me if the blisspop is a good choice and if it is worth it to transition from the stock rom to a custom rom.
Also i couldn't find a good recovery for xperia sp (TWRP doesn't seem to support SP). Finally, in case i regret my decision, how easy is it to restore the SP to its original stock rom and default configuration?

BlissPop 3.5 have old sources ....and the ROM support is very low ....you can go to AICP...OWN ROM...CM12.1 for sure (just choose one or read their threads to know more)
TWRP is supported ....just flash the t-kernel with fastboot mode and you will have twrp recovery ...then reboot to recovery and flash a ROM from above
it's easy to get back to stock ... :silly:
methods
1- there is a stock-based ROMs but optimized which a good choice and can be flashed easily by any recovery
2-just flash a stock ftf ROM with flash-tool to get your phone all the way back to original factory lunch

CM12.1 was my 2nd choice. My 1st choice was based on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/general/5-0-2-lollipop-rom-reviews-t3093338
Also i couldn't really grasp the instructions on the CM12 thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/orig-development/5-1-1-cyanogenmod-12-1-t3096100
The part about the "updated recovery" confused me.
thx for the info. Also T-kernel is the tangerine custom kernel? Does it have any issues with CM12?

yes it is tangerine custom kernel .....no issues with cm12.1 ROM just read the tangerine kernel carefully
Ok. just a small clarification of the steps. At the CM thread the instructions are like this:
Instructions:
- Install updated recovery (see 2º post)
- Boot into Recovery
- Full Wipe (dalvik, system, data, cache)
- Flash Rom
- Flash Gapps (optional)
- Reboot
A the first step if i flash tangerine will i be covered?

There's a thread in Android Development with a ZIP incliding twrp, philz and cwm. Install this and you have a recovery that works easily and can be installed easily. It's another method than the one the others recommended, but it worked for me everytime.

make sure u already unlock bootloader if not go here
if u wanna use recovery from T-kernel u should flash stock fota with flashtool, stock fota n T-kernel can be found here
if u just want latest twrp with f2fs support can be found here but u should flash it with rashr(from playstore)
now u should be able to flash the roms that T-kernel support eg. cm12.1, if u flash cm12.1 make sure u flash T-kernel zip after u flash rom, cause cm12.1 rom has it own kernel in its installer

[HELP] How to downgrade cm11 to stock 2.1.0.11

Im on cm11, and i want to downgrade to stock. I tried flash the stock rom flashable zip. It boot up but i get NokiaVariantManager has stopped and i cant do anything. It stuck at loading screen(after choose language).
So how can i fix it....please help... I dont have pc
Always make a twrp back up befor flashing a new rom.
Use any stock based custom rom for example, mine.
After that, use Nokia Care Suite and refurbish.

Problem Flashing Offcial Firmware

Hi, Dear xda members
Last week i soft bricked my Sony Xperia Z c6603
After flashing modified kernel, i lost everything
I couldn't reach recovery even couldn't flash one with fastboot(as my device was not recognized)
I tried flashing offcial firmware through flashtool. It succeeded flashing
But After reboot i had bootloob and the ROM didn't boot
Finally I had a solution to get my phone fixed. Here's what i did:
*Reboot to FlashMode
*In flashtool I flashed TWRP Recovery in FlashMode
Now all custom ROMs are working but when I flash an official and other ROM's based on official, I'm having bootloops
Tried to wait. NO result
Could you help me with it?
P.S the modified kernel was made by this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...ot-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605/
When i softbricked my phone I tried to fix it according to this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...rick-sony-xperia-z-c6602-c6603-c6606-t3215134

I have several problems too including not being able to run stock anymore. (endless black screen after experia logo). I tried flashtool (latest stock via xperifirm), Sony's flashtool. Companion didn't even want to flash (UEGetPhoneInfoMissingInfo), and left me wondering wether something is corrupt.
I've been running CM's for a while now and was wondering why NFC was not working. Not sure if it needs an updated firmware or what.
Other problem I've seen is that "fastboot flash recovery" always gives an error. "fastboot flash boot" works (this is how I install TWRP).
Can I try zeroing mmcblk0 or would that brick it? (does it really need to have a TA partition to accept boot connection? How does Sony init it anyways?)
I think I have a mmcblk0 backup from after unlocking (DRM lost though) but perhaps that will give me a somewhat clean situation again. Or perhaps I can compare it.
Edit: dd-ed my old mmc backup and now Xperia Companion didn't give an error anymore, did a factory reset, and after a long wait of the blue waving animation, I got it to work.
Even NFC firmware update started after rooting and deleting /data/ucf folder.
Now I want to go back to Nougat xD

Bricked ??? Black screen after sony logo :(

Hi Friends,
I have played a lot with xperia z and never got into such situation.
So i have been using this resurrection remix 7.1.1 rom 12122016 build, and wanted to switch device so to give this device to my family member i flashed .222 5.1.1 as he is not techy like me and wont be able to fix problems on his own.
now the thing is i am stuck at black screen after sony logo
I know kernel is there there is just some system issue and to fix it i did below things still no success.
1. flashed ftf 6602 (Double checked and re downloaded FTF in case ftf was courrepted)
2. used emma tool and updated phone
3. flash twrp and flashed Xperia_Z_eXistenZ_Premium_v4.0.0
non of about gave me stock Rom and now i am stuck at non system in my phone just kernel mean as soon as i start my phone there is sony logo but after that there is no process.
Help would be great solace.

First of all: read the forum rules. After 1400 posts you should know that the GENERAL section is not the right place to ask questions like this.
Second: Wich file system are you using? If it's any other but ext4 you should format the storage using twrp.
Did you flash with Androxyde's flashtool, or just with Emma?
Hey ! i too experienced the same issue earlier today.. Only the latest build isnt working when flashed ..I flashed the kitkat build via flashtool and it worked.. is there any solution.. ? ive been trying since morning.. And another thing is that recovery also cant be flashed . So im literally stuck at this phase. :crying:
just flash a stock rom from flashtool i always encounter that when i corrupt flashing thru recovery.. like i fully wipe and forgot to put rom in internal lol
Flashed with both Emma and flashetool
Even tried custom lp rom via twrp but the same situation
Have you fixed your issue? I have the same case. I flashed it to stock ROM but the black screen is still occurring after xperia logo.
1. make sure your partition is ext4
2. download proper official Kitkat 4.4.4 firmware (.tft), flash it with Androxyde's flashtool (make sure the .ftf is not corrupted, driver is installed, good usb cable and 75% of battery or above).
3. if you wanna check the device is in good shape, try to boot up (in my case, I'll flash LP 5.1.1 right after flashing KK firmware is done).
4. if the device is boot up correctly, turn off your device and begin to flash LP 5.1.1 firmware
NOTE: somewhere on this forum say about the right version of flashtool to flash the firmware to our device, older version of flashtool. But I'm using version 0.9.22.3 and everything is fine. However, I can see that the flashtool is not using the newest engine while flashing my device (C6603) but using the older engine instead.
Hi,
I have already been in such a situation.
1) Try to flash (with flashtool) official 4.2 Android firmware, boot, then flash latest one (5.1.1)
2) Try to flash official firmware (4.2) with xflasher (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74122327&postcount=212, https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74122295&postcount=2)
Good luck!
still having same issue with my z3, flashing with emma and tft but stuck on sony logo
I also met this problem yesterday.
I use the latest Flashtool and flash the latest firmware but it said The bundle does not match the connected device.
Then I use a older version like 0.9.18 to flash the latest firmware. The problem you said occurred. It stuck in black screen after Sony logo.
Here is how I fix it:
1. Use an older version of Flashtool to flash an older firmware such as 4.4.4_10.5.1.A.0.283 like me.
2. After flashing the old firmware it should be normally powered on. Then power off and enter the flash mode again. And flash the latest firmware, problem fixed.
Hope that my experience can offer a bit help for you.
