How to backup actual MIUI - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

Hi guys.
I d like to unlock my Mi8 and install TWRP and try the unofficial Lineage OS16.
But before I do unlock my Mi8 I d like to backup an Image of my System including all data. Like a partition image of a Windows Partition. Is it possible with an locked and not rooted device?
Or will I have to do a soft backup and save all pics and files on my PC and use some inapp-backup features and save them on cloud like google drive?
TWRP can do such an imagebackup but to install it I have to unlock my device and it says that all data will be erased after unlock.
Is there a Windows10 APP or other way to backup the whole system in present condition?

No it's not possible.

Go to your settings > additional settings > backup and reset > local backup.
You can back up your system settings and most of your apps including data, but not WhatsApp, mobile banking apps etc.
The backup will be stored in the MIUI folder and you can copy it to your pc easily.
Im addition I recommend Google Photos to back up your pictures and videos.
If you want to back up other files (e.g. music, documents,...) you can simply copy them to your computer.

[Q] Titanium Backup Pro willing to restore data at startup [FIXED]

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S III mini VE N, GT-I8200N which is rooted.
Those last days, it was unstable (reboot loops) and decide to reinstall it by reflash it and restore the application data.
For that, I used Titanium Backup Pro, where I created an update.zip file with all applications. And I also did a full backup on the external SD card.
So :
1. wipe the data
2. reflash a ROM from Sammobile
3. re-root the phone + update.zip with all data in recovery mode
4. reconfigure the system settings (I didn't dared restore the system settings from a corrupted system backup, only the apps).
Everything seemed ok, but once I reboot the phone, I see Titanium Backup launches a scheduled restore, that restores everything, including the system settings. And after that, I get the same problems as before : boot loops, application that crashes : clock, Google Play Services, Skype, ...
I am sure the problem is related to that automatic scheduled restore from Titanium : if I do steps 1-4 (skipping 2 because), restore only user apps and data, and fast uninstall Titanium, I can use my phone as before.
I even removed TitaniumBackup folders, but Titanium Backup still seems to find some backup somewhere.
And I see it keeps my settings from previous, because I checked the "persist" setting.
Is there a way to erase all data from Titanium Backup, especially that ghost restore scheduled job?
I don't seem to find a similar problem on the forum or other websites...
Kind regards,
Xavier.
EDIT: FIXED by myself : I removed Titanium Backup related data /storage/extSdCard/data/ and in /data/data by finding "com.keramides" and "titanium".
The app has forgotten its corrupted settings and is working fine now.

How to keep (some) settings between reflashes?

Say I want to ...
try out various images, e.g. CM or RessurrecionRemix
try out different .ZIP updates to them, e.g. various options of TK GApps
experiment with self written rules for TK's "Universal Application Remover"
Obviously this mean that I'll wiping my partitions all the time. And all settings will be lost. But then I'd would have to re-enter and re-enter things like my WLAN passphrase, or my google account.
Q: Is there a thread somewhere that explains how to save important things and provide them in a .ZIP file for TWRP?
Hi, Do you ever use Titanium Backup? Even if you feel the need to fully format your device, you can move your backed up apps as well as all your account login data, + WiFi/Bluetooth pairings onto your computer, a private server, the Cloud... You can create a recovery flashable zip of the Titanium BU app and easily transfer/restore your backups onto your device, restore everything without being logged into your Google account, reboot, profit! (= Shreds set up time, automates the dreaded part of having to set up over & over again.
I should mention all of your accounts login data is considered system-side and is the only system data from a previous ROM that is safe to restore. Do not restore system apps, e.g. a gapps included app.
Once you restore your apps+data, Accounts, WiFi configs, BT pairings, APNS (if you like), reboot your device and you're ready to roll. Check Settings -> Accounts and you'll find you can save a lot of time whenever you want to test a new or different ROM.

Backup a G5S Plus

Hello
I'd like to know how to perform a complete backup of the phone without using the cloud, a program for windows that can save and restore user data and system data. If backing up the system data it's not possible due to root limitation it's ok to perform a backup of only the user data.
Thanks
Have a look on this

After backing up data from twrp, what needs to be done to restore it back after flashing new rom?
Also, will it backup all my data, i mean, including the app data like i open whatsapp and all my chats are there and it doesn't open like newly installed app.
You need to go back TWRP and then Restoring that you backup
Nope, i ever backup with TWRP and then restore, but i need to download game source again. For whatsapp history chat u can use the feature from it self, u can found it by Hold press on the chat / Setting menu (i'm not sure, because my main chat is LINE but i also use whatsapp )
I usually use Titanium Backup, but your phone need to be rooted before,

Question Backup from CN to .eu or Mmx

Hello,
I like to unlock Bl on Wednesday. When unlock my phone will be wiped. Can I make a local backup that I copy to laptop? I ask this because I will be on holiday and i tenet is terrible/bad. So cloud backup is impossible. What/Wich folder do I need to copy and restore to backup apps and data, when wiping. Install/flash TWRP and install custom rom
You can make up a local backup by going to settings→About phone→Backup and restore and then choosing either on device back up (mobile backup) or computer backup. Then copy the backup to PC and after flashing, copy the backup to phone and restore. For me, restoring this way works for restoring home screen and settings flawlessly. However, only some of the third party apps downloaded from playstore work, but others don't. In my experience, this backup method is not reliable for third party apps. I also tried super backup and swift backup from playstore. They also do not work reliably for me.
what is the name off the folder that i have to copy, where is it located

After backing up, connect phone to PC, open internal storage→MIUI→Backup
