Hey Guys,
My first post here. I was on LineageOS 15.1-20180331-UNOFFICIAL-oxygen for a good 4 months and really enjoyed the rom- smooth and fast. A couple of days ago when I turned on my Max 2 it booted into TWRP and since then has been boot looping.
1. So, the 1st thing I did was take a TWRP back-up.
2. Tried to restore backup- no luck in getting out of the TWRP loop.
I decided to flash Arrow ROM by Hard Rock
1. Upgraded TWRP to twrp_mod.img (3.2.1-0)
2. Flashed Arrow-v9.0-oxygen-UNOFFICIAL-20190114 & open_gapps-arm64-9.0-nano-20190122 successfully.
Max 2 is up and running good.
Solution required:
1. What is the most efficient way to restore parts of the TWRP backup i.e. whatsapp, notes, etc.?
2. I tried flashing pietreblekernel_v1.9-pro- don't believe it worked- the kernel version on the phone still shows as 3.18.132-Hardrock_pie-caf-xxxxx.
3. I wanted to install Titanium but that requires Super SU to be flashed via TWRP- tried doing that and, although in TWRP it shows as successful. I don't see Super SU on my phone. Same thing happens when I flash Magisk-v17.3
Please note my knowledge of ANDROID is zero. If you'll could please assist me with the questions I have and/or the correct steps I would truly appreciate it.

need some advice on my new arrived 3T, i have unlocked the phone and installed TWRP and sultan's LineageOS 14.1
but the problem encountered now is, every time i reboot the stock recovery will show up twice and then boot logo
also i can't finish Sultan's update every time i boot into TWRP and flash with the zip, it shows up & run for a few second and returned into main page and nth happened.
I am thinking will all these because of the stock recovery? can i remove it? thx in advance.
How did you unlock the phone and flashed TWRP. Please explain every step to understand the problem because I have flashed the TWRP and installed the custom ROM many a time. I even reverted my phone back to stock completely to receive OTA. Recently two days back, I installed Zenity RR which is awesome and I did not face any issues.
Hello guys!
I'm writing this thread to ask you about an "almost" succesful install through TWRP.
My situation goes in this way:
1. The newest version of TWRP didn't work on the phone, so I used a 3.0 (I can't seem to make work the bootloader in the original thread of TWRP for RAZR).
2. In the installing process of Lineage, there are two red commands that says: "E:unknown command [log]" twice.
3. The gapps install goes pretty well.
4. The phone won't boot and I surely assume is the ROM but can't figure it out what I need to do.
I did a similar process with my Moto G3 and had encountered similar problems, the last thing I did in it was to install a Gapps version that were in the date of the Lineage ROM and was good, but this isn't the case.
I hope I made me clear about my problem.
Good bye!
Edit: Figured out the missing step! Wasn't mentioned on any guide I read, or if it was, I'm afraid it wasn't clear :'( Hopefully this guide helps other people though, I've highlighted the step I added!
Hi Mi9 Forum!
Longtime S7 user here, I've flashed (literally) hundreds of roms over the years, but unfortunately lost my device so switched to a Mi9 (Which is ****ing huge!)
Earlier today, after the (arduous 1-week wait) I unlocked my phone (now reads unlocked on boot up), and set about testing three different roms.
From what I understood, I needed to flash a Vendor image before the actual rom itself, so I installed TWRP, flashed the vendor image, then tried flashing the ROM, but alas, I got kicked back to TWRP.
The steps I've taken a listed below, perhaps I've missed something obvious, or not so obvious, but any help would be appreciated!
UNLOCKING
Unlocked phone with Mi tool (Reads unlocked on bootscreen now)
Booted into Fastbook (Vol down + Power)
Plugged in
Used MinimalADB to push TWRP (3.3.1.42) onto my device
Unplugged and rebooted (Vol up + Power)
Plugged back in and entered into TWRP (Huzzah!)
Pushed two files into my "/tmp/" folder, these were xiaomi.eu_multi_MI9_V11.0.2.0.QFACNXM_v11-10.zip, and Magisk (V20)
Went to Wipe > Format Data > "Yes"
Back to TWRP Home, went to Install, and installed the xiaomi.eu mentioned above, then installed Magisk
Once both were done, I restarted, phone loaded up perfectly fine, and had Magisk installed
It was at this point I decided to try a custom rom:
CUSTOM ROM
Booted into TWRP
[*]Selected to Wipe > Format Data > "Yes"
I wiped System, Vendor, Data, Cache, and Dalvik
Pushed the Vendor 9.8.1 file into my "/tmp/" folder, along with whatever ROM I was testing (Tried with Syberia project, AOSPExtended, and ResurrectionRemix), GAPPS, and Magisk
Flashed the Vendor file
Flashed the ROM
Flashed GAPPS (Where it wasn't included with whatever ROM I was testing)
Flashed Magisk (This began giving me ERROR-1 here, even though it was exactly the same file that worked fine earlier.)
Once all that was done, I restarted the phone, it booted up fine, I saw the "Mi" bootscreen along with the "unlocked" at the bottom...Then the phone restarted.
It went to the same bootscreen once more, before restarting once again, and kicking me into TWRP.
I've tried it several times now, with different roms, both with/without installing GAPPS/Magisk, but I always get the same result.
I've been on these forums for a while, I know usually people post without reading, but that's not what I've done, I've read up on what to do, downloaded all the necessary (I think!) files ahead of time, and documented everything I did (in-case of a cockup!). So yes, I really have tried, and I really have searched
Any help, or direction, or hints, or magic wishes anybody can give me regarding this would be much appreciated!

Using the above steps, I have been able to flash AOSP, and Miui roms.
Though I always go back to Miui because it has the best camera app.
hello, I used to be a custom ROM junkie in the past but after some time i got bored and never did it again.
now looking at my current device which i never installed a customer ROM before its quite old as its running Android 8 and i would like to jump to 10 or 11.
I am confident i understand the process but its been a few years and i have some questions:
-for example this is the 1st device i encrypt so i am not sure if this affects.
-the device has no custom recovery so i have to start there but not sure if i have to remove encryption or if its ok.
-Also i would like to see if you have any advice for me or somehting i should pay attention beside install TWRP, format all but storage and install zip file for custom ROM
Thanks

You've missed all the fun with the upgrade to OOS 9.
So, you'll need to upgrade your firmware to 9.0.6 because all the latest ROMs require it. Take your time and carefully read https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...5-0-8-firmware-barrier-t3941164/post79758055.
You do not need to remove encryption (depending on how you upgrade your firmware).
If you've got a locked bootloader (which I'm expecting you do), them you need to unlock it so that you can flash TWRP. And unlocking will wipe all data from your phone. So backup everything you want to keep to your PC.
If you don't boot into recovery after flashing TWRP and install a patched boot image (see https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...ty-disable-oxygen-os-t3922324/post79357241)or flash Magisk, and reboot your phone, you'll lose TWRP because OOS automatically restores the stock recovery.
So the order is:
1. Backup
2. Unlock bootloader
3. Flash TWRP
3. In TWRP flash patched boot image (remember you're still on OOS 5.x so use the right one!) or Magisk.
4. Have fun moving to a custom rom.

Good afternoon everyone!
A few days ago, I was thinking about installing TWRP on my phone (rosemary with global ROM), but I faced with the issue, that I can't install it, because when I tried the one from "unofficaltwrp", it just didn't boot up due to the fact, that it doesn't support android 12 (as I figured out, but I'm not sure)
Then, I found this guy on youtube, who made a video that really worked to me, but there was an issue with booting, it just booted to TWRP everytime. I consume, I just missed a step, so I repeated it, and finally it booted into the system. The only thing, that I also had to figure out, is my root. I 've rooted the device with patched boot image, and I also installed magisk on it. This time, I decided to go with the original one, and flash the Magisk.zip after flashing the TWRP through the program.
After all, it worked, and now I got back my root permissions, and I also have TWRP on my device as a recovery.
I hope, this post helped to anyone, who 's struggling with TWRP problems. Have a great day people! ;D

PS.: It's also great to have an unlocked bootloader in order, to install TWRP
