Havoc OS Or SkyDragon - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hello,
I will flash customer Pie Rom for My oneplus 3t,
Which Rom is the best in term of battery life & stability ( Havoc OS Or SkyDragon )
And is it support OTA update,
Also any another recommendation Rom?

depends on usage for the battery stats.
However both are good custom ROM.
if like fast update in terms of adding specifications or changing kernel by developer, then use HAVOC
or if don't like so many updates, only security and some essential update then go for SKYDRAGON.
However, I like HAVOC.

HAVOC
No doubt in it..u feel the sweet in that...

Isn't Havoc using Holydragon kernel, which is developed by the maintainer of skydragon?

Statix os is also a nice ROM very minimalistic and stable but as said before battery life depends on usage.

Havoc breaks Volte when you switch network mode by hand, its only so many times you can get lucky but for sure the volte break will happen eventually and the volte fix zip is garbage it never works on any pie rom, iv tried it every single pie rom listed in the 3T pie index thread. Skydragon seems to be doing great with volte to the point that I trust it now, latest update has fixed it. Havoc is awesome and the only other pie ROM I trust for 3T. SkyDragon is best whether you select battery or game mode in while using Spectrum app. I also think Havoc was or still using Holy Dragon kernal too... So basically both ROMs are the same at kernel level. Both ROMs are pretty much exactly the same with customization. Biggest difference is the ROM name/symbols lol. Both ROMs have a Recent button bug where the app listed goes all black and u can't see what app it is and sometimes makes screen entirely black, its worst with all black theme, just swipe up when it all black and app gets cleared. Always CLEAN wipe 3 times to remove any lingering libs from previous rom and use MIGRATE app to backup/reinstall user apps list through Recovery after flashing ROM,gapps, magisk. Don't dirty flash. Up to you dude pick what u want.

recaf - CAF enhanced AOSP for Xperia SP

Hello Boys and Girls,
Everyone at XDA loves AOSP based projects. However AOSP is designed only for the Nexus devices. For most other devices, a significant ammount of extra code needs to be added for them to run properly. For Qualcomm devices, most of this extra code is supplied by the Code Aurora Forums. Here you can find a variant of AOSP that is not only designed specifically for Qualcomm based devices, but it also includes various tricks and enhancements.
So today I'm introducing a little project I've been cooking up for myself, which might also be interesting for other Xperia SP users.
It's called recaf - adding the CAF optimizations back into your AOSP rom.
This is now based on Android 4.4 KitKat. On the surface, it looks almost exactly like pure AOSP as provided by Google. You wouldn't know just by looking at it, but under the surface there are lots of changes to dalvik, the frameworks and the hardware drivers to massively improve battery life.
However, pure AOSP sometimes feels a little bit featureless compared to advanced roms such as CyanogenMod, so I have included a few basic tweaks that I feel make life easier when using an AOSP-like rom:
CyanogenMod camera app - because AOSP camera app is rubbish
CyanogenMod cLock widget - because it's actually pretty nice
Integrated Superuser - it's right there in the settings menu!
exFAT and NTFS - needed for larger SDCards
Multicoloured notification lights - AOSP gives us white lights only
Quick settings - easily accessible by swiping down the right side of the status bar
Advanced reboot - Always available in the power menu
ADB and SU security - root access is disabled by default
So without further delay, here is your download link:
recaf-4.K1-20131212-huashan.zip
recaf-4.K1-20131207-huashan.zip
recaf-4.K1-20131202-huashan.zip
recaf-4.K1-20131129-huashan.zip
recaf-4.K1-20131127-huashan.zip
I assume you will also want to install GAPPS, the version I recommend is the FULL version created by the Paranoid Android team from THIS THREAD.
For your first install you will need to flash the boot.img from inside the zip - SELinux changes for Android 4.4 will cause the zip to fail on other recoveries.
If you want to chat about recaf, join the Freenode IRC chat room #recaf.

Known Major Bugs
Location services are currently broken for certain apps. fixed in 4.K1.
GSM data sometimes (very rarely) randomly disconnects until reboot - I need help to determine what causes this. If you can reliably reproduce this, let me know.
Android RunTime (ART) will fail at boot time fixed.
Known Minor Bugs
WiFi does not connect to WPA secured networks. WPA2 security works as expected.
For Superuser to work you need to change ADB access to apps and adb (in developer settings)
Language does not change in some parts of Android, most notably the Settings app. Most other apps work fine and I didn't touch the language code, so this is a CAF bug I will need to fix.
Custom notification colours for missed calls and voice mail don't work
LED on charging sometimes gets stuck when disconnected until reboot.
These are features, not bugs
Facebook sync cannot be activated.
Quick Settings poll
I created a poll about Quick Settings (discuss it there)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2550027
some feedback,
flashed rom+gapps= setup wizard FC
flashed rom=boot then reboot then flash gapps= profit
seems like integrated SU is not working properly for me though
Downloading...
One question though, did you manage to fix the "Phone" app battery drain issue?
Ahh yes the setup wizard will crash due to the above bug. You can skip it by pressing the four corners of the screen, start top left then go clockwise.

@adfad666 thank you so much for sharing this rom! I have decided to switch to this one as my daily driver, pure stock 4.3 jellybean just the way i like it battery life is significantly better than cm10.2 and lag is non existent. Looking forward to future updates/bug fixes and of course AOSP kitkat roms!
Bug report: The notification light doesnt seem to work when charging via usb but works for notifications. Also, even though ive changed the notification lights to custom color values it still blinks white
ive attached a logcat below hope it helps.
Going to test this out as I'm currently running PAC and my battery ran out in 6 hours with 1 hour tops screen time. Hope this is better like the previous comment stated. Will post a small review afterwards.
Ok first off: battery life seems to be A LOT better than CM10.2/PAC.
Doesn't have SU installed by default, so I had to flash it.
Seems to be smoother than PAC. Might be placebo effect though.
1 question as well. Is there a way to enable facebook sync? I did it on CM10.* with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2064859, but the CM10.2 apk doesn't work with AOSP

I noticed it works if you change the default notification colour, so I must have missed some part about the custom colours for apps.

Super user is for sure installed, but I think you need to enable developer settings for it to work. It's the exact same code as for CyanogenMod ( I didn't even fork it I just link to their projects) and I think super user is hidden and disabled there until developer mode is enabled. I'll add the code like CM has to hide it unless developer mode is enabled.

undoubtedly the best work so far
the ram and the battery is what most pleased in this rom
but heating in many aspect
I did return to the stock expecting some solution
or next actulizacion
SuperUser is working fine for me .
-I've some force closes in Drive app; but i disabled this app so the force closes are gone.
-I suffer a reboot when i start the camera for first time -> The screen turns purple and like "melted" and after that turns off. And later turns on again (reboot). Note: i've this bug in CM10.1 and CM10.2 when i was playing HD videos.

Resurrection Remix 7.0.0 [Android 9] - Any experience?

Hi,
I just double checked the RR homepage if there is any Update regarding a new Mi5 Rom. And yes: Since a couple of days there seems to be a new ROM "RR-P-v7.0.0-20190220-gemini-Official" available. I can't found it within the Rom section on XDA.
Do you have any experience with the ROM? Battery, bugs?!
I know: It's very easy to flash and discover on my on. But maybe you can give some feedback or create a Thread within the XDA Rom section (not sure if only the dev's are allowed to).
https://get.resurrectionremix.com/?dir=gemini
Regards
I'm currently using it.
Only issue so far is ambient display that doesn't work.
Other than that it's really really fast
Its blazingly fast and give 7 hours of screen on time
Does ambient display work for you?
Or at least does the screen light up when you receive notifications?

I finally managed to flash the latest Version (20190307) with Firmware version 8.11.22. Ambient light is not working - Screen stays dark. Only LED showing up.
About battery usage I can tell u more soon - Right now it says up to 2 more days.
Performance is really incredible. How fast the apps are coming up after touching them - Nice.
Another thing: I somehow can't manged to set vibration only for the HW keys - Not the onscreen Keyboard. Anybody any idea?

Well, technically everyone is allowed to create threads, but what is expected always is that you use common sense and respect the work of others.
With that in mind, creating a thread for a ROM should only be done by its developer or maintainer or at least always only when politely asking the creators for allowance beforehand.
Review based on 16.03 build
Hi,
the 16.03 introduced new issues like random reboots 1-2 times per day.
The Spotify App isnot working properly as if you press buttons to open a sub-menu it lead into a App crash (Like "More from this artist"/ "More from this Album"/"Add to playlist"). I tried Beta/Alpha/stable App version but always the same.
I had lot of issues with push notifications. They came up like 20-30min after received something.
The battery drain and performance is still incredible. Better than on HAVOC OS on which I'm right now.
Ambient display still not working - Screen show nothing after receiving a notification.
Automatic brightness is not working properly from my perspective - It is much to "aggressiv" switching the screen brightness to high and toggling a lot.
Used firmware: fw_gemini_miui_MI5Global_8.11.22_c5d7ee6745_8.0
Right now I'm struggling with super low mobile data rate around 0,03MB/s. But I have the same issue with HAVOC Rom - So nothing to do with that rom.
(ROM was dirty flashed over 09.03 RR build. I switched now to HAVOC Rom which is much more stable)

Some prefer certain channels.
Some only release on telegram, some only on xda, some on both or more.
If you ask the creator, there might be one, if you want one to be there and feel up for maintaining it.
On Mi5Arsenal telegram a new version of this romm appeared. 20190414.
Has anyone tried it?
Can you check if ambient display works on this new version?
More importantly are random reboots gone in new bulid?

Most stable rom that performs well

I actually really like this phone, except for the lack of good roms. im trying to find a stable one thats atleast as fast as the stock eui rom. i tried lineage os earlier this year and instantly felt slow withing 10 seconds of using it.

After march update i had many problems with P.E
I didn't try latest version.
But in evolution everything is good with many customisation
Gcam 6.2 works so well
I had 3 problem with it
Camera crashes after opening it for 10 - 15 times or when enabling face unlock(needs reboot)
Unable to send WhatsApp audio
My battery standby is poor (i used extensively for 3 years)
If you want most stable then go for stock(good if you debloat it) or small eui or try Android 6 or 7 roms. But you cant use gcam 6+ over there

I recently found a video from YouTube, where they used adb from pc to disable the bloatware. But you have to root the device to completely uninstall it, though it backfires sometimes and crashes system apps frequently.
Small eui is better(no bloatware) but it has aggressive ram and battery management so there are some issues like notification arriving late and longer background apps reloading time and also unable to customise the icons for default launcher

If MIUI 11 turns out to be as bad as 10, which custom rom is the most stable?

Don't want to switch to a rom where stuff randomly stops working, so basically it has to be almost perfect. I guess Pixel Experience is the best currently? Does Google Camera work on every rom exactly like it does on MIUI?
Give me your suggestions!

AOD not displaying any relevant notifications, awful notifications in general, Android System using the most battery(though this might be just me), bloatware(removed it via ADB but still), automatic brightness randomly blinding me at night in bed.
I put Nova Launcher just to bypass some of the horrendous stuff MIUI has.

Just removing the bloatwares will do for a while. But if you're gonna ask for a custom rom. It's good to install LineageOS. I've been using that ROM since I was in Zenfone2.
PixelROM has still too much bugs. And I think all the custom roms will be stable after a year.
I haven't found any custom rom to be stable unfortunately.
Miui 11 is a tad better than Miui 10. But not by much. It's still got the terrible notification system, poor recents layout and overly complicated settings (thank god for search).

Most of the ROMs are stable, however none are without some minor issues, but nothing that stops them being used as a daily. Couldn't comment on all of them, but it looks like the Oxygen OS ROM is the only unusable ROM.
There are a few that are all at a similar level, with PE being just one of them.
My suggestion is look at the ROM threads that are the most active, as they're going to be the ones with the most users, which implies they're the ones with the least bugs. After that it's personal preference as to which you choose.
Unfortunately there isn't a perfect camera solution for custom ROMs yet.
To get the best out of it, you will probably need both GCam and ANX camera installed, as both aren't perfect, but their issues don't overlap much, so between them you get almost everything covered. There are many threads that discuss which versions of each work best.

They have fixed the notifications on AOD and I agree with the bloatware problem and automatic brightness problem. Battery life is better in miui11, at least for me.
I think the most stable 3rd party rom for this device is either LOS16 or Pixel Experience based on 9. I think they will soon all move to android 10 (Official builds) before 2020. But I haven't tried any of them.

General Stock vs XiaomiEU smoothness experience.

Guys i recently jumped from stock Chinese to XiaomiEU. I noticed that the phone became laggy with animation.
This thread for those people who actually tried both choices (stock/XiaomiEU stable/beta)
Besides animation with micro lags on opening apps (a specially if they closed in recently menu) there is other weird stuff, example YouTube started to lags in scrolling. Google keyboard sometimes comes up late. Phone after restarting laggy first 2-3 min.
I switched back to full Chinese stock and im shocked how quick and smooth this phone is !
Please share your statistics if you switch from XiaomiEU back to stock.
In my opinion (with full respect to developer) stock debloted root it rom with adaway bringing you a Pixel smoothness... however I can't say similar about EU rom...
Regards
Yes I noticed it's not as smooth as well like not 120 fps all the time while navigating. Also noticed the YouTube scroll lag. If you turn on show fps in developer settings when you load up the YouTube app it drops to 60 fps only.

Oh I read above you had lag with animations on Xiaomi.eu ROM. Im now in waiting period until I unlock my bootloader but I will install Xiaomi.eu after unlock, do you know if GetApps is installed on Xiaomi.eu?
Definitely download getapps as your system apps won't update without it. The EU rom should be coming with it, it shouldn't be deleted it's imperative.

I just finished installing but do not have getapps..time to Google it..
Yesterday, I manage to complete the task of intsalling xiaomi.eu ROM. At first it felt slow but looks like I was spoiled by 120hz on Chinese version. After changing back 120hz, it feels much better.
I will not vote yet as I am stil catching with my apps and awaiting first stable update to see the update process before making any decisions.
All in all, the main reason for this change was android auto for me. I tested and working which makes all this hassle worth for me. I will revert in due course about the smoothness...
Is There still a difference in speed and smoothness or has it leveled out by now ?
