Hi friends, i have a problem while watching 60fps and 4K videos in Youtube. When i set resolution to 1080p 60fps and increase video speed the video starts to lagging and loses smoothness. I try this on Youtube vanced and official youtube app and result is same.
Also in 4k i have same problem.
I am waiting for your answers.
My device
Huawei P20 Pro CLT-L09
9.0.0.163
Latest youtube vanced,
4K 60Fps HDR - 1,5x playback speed (although purpose of 60fps was for slower playback to be honest)
all work fine.
Is your battery saver on ?
Could be down to your Internet speed and not your phone. My phone doesn't have any issue with playback lag at higher resolution and frame rate.

I have no problem on 1x speed but when i switch to 1.5x or 2x video loses smoothness. When i enable performance mode sometimes fix issue. But still i don't understand the reason of this issue
Hello , I have the same problem. Still on 8.1.0.156. Using std youtube or vanced.. when in portrait the video looks awesome and smooth. On full screen becomes laggy and slow in 1080p60. I would like to add it to game suite app but you can't. Still looking for a solution....
SOLVED. Was using Fluid Navigation Gestures App and that was causing the lag in Youtube Vanced. Just add YT to blacklist and now works fine.
The problem is your hardware not the device, To fix this you have to go in developer options in settings and turn disable Hardware overlay on. if you dont have this option update your device, if this also does not work get a new device.

Since our stock camera app does not have framerate settings, I tried to download Open Camera. When I set 24fps framerate, and hit record, it says, device does not support this framerate.
Anyone knows what other video recording apps that can support 24fps or is it a problem for our OP3T? I was actually planning to make a short film using this device.
Anyone?
Filmic Pro works fine so don't worry that the phone doesn't support 24fps.
Hi
My camera record slow motion video but when recording was done and when i want set slow motion speed the setting button not working.
Is there any guide for this?
Thank you everyone
#edit# i have this problem with all video files! Setting button has no functionality!! #
I think it's camera bug or 'slow motion' doesn't support some video formats. In some firmwares there were that problems. You can flash another firmware or install other camera app that supports slow motion.

I want to know is every one phones same as me or not?
please some huawei p10 owners tell about their slow motion mode.
can you change slow motion speed or not ?
I had a similar problem but managed to find the solution. When I got my phone, I uninstalled/blocked all of the bloatware. Amongst these programs was also the Videos application, which I blocked. It appeared that this app was needed to edit the videos. Now that I have it unblocked everything is working fine again.
The slow motion and sometimes video recordings are unpredictable as for performance. I think the SLO-MO is bugus. Never worked for me, only intermittent..
Which video app do you mean ? by title and if I uninstall will the camera app still work. I will not be editing in my phone. I have fabulous slomo at hoghest frame rate but the other 2 speeds do not work. If I remove will ithey now work ? Also slo mo ar highest speed have no control over film captured action duration . Thought it would continue recording slomo till I pressed stop ?
Hope for answers for my P20 Pro
thanks
Just got updated to pie last night. This morning while I was testing camera settings, I noticed that video stabilization is missing in the default camera app settings. in Oreo, I can stabilize videos (except 4k and 16:9), but now, it's simply missing. And test shots confirmed that there is no stabilization (optical or what so ever) anymore. That just sucks. It was very useful to take videos of my kids playing while running after them. Now without it, all the videos gonna be garbage.
Any idea how to fix it? or just simply accept it as it is?
You've got stabilisation in 1080P FHD enabled by default. There is no option for stabilisation because it's enabled by default in supported resolutions.

Which makes is quite useless for pro use with a gimbal or other situations where you want stabilisation off. Great camera hardware by Sony, lousy software to control it by Huawei.
When you dont want ois and want use gimbal, then use another resolution
4k example

This was my thought too at first. Then I tried Full-HD 30 FPS with my gimbal and it works fine! Also FHD 60FPS and 4K work too, as expected.

? Not doable due to after processing constraints.
I'm still on Oreo, I just extracted the Huawei Camera APK with APK Extractor Lite. Can someone on Android Pie try to install the old camera apk (if installing is successful) and look if stabilisation is working again?

Ois works for 1080p 30 fps / 16:9 only.
It works in:
- 720p 30fps
- 1080p 30fps (both 16:9 and 18:9)
There is a workaround, if you want to shut it off. Go to video mode ( not pro mode), turn on beautification. The OIS stopped working, but you're stuck at 720p 30fps.

I think it is the EIS (software stabilization) because the OIS is built into the lens, it seems to work in all resolutions.
The EIS crops the video a bit, and tries to reframe it to cancel harsh movement. But it compensates (in my P10 phone at least, which model seems also affected with the bug) to wrong direction turned 90 degree. If You move up-down, it compensates left-right for me, causing more fake shake recorded.
Hello! So reading this feed, it sounds as though the stabilisation is still working for the Huawei P20 Pro cam, but just the option to turn this on and off has recently disappeared. Weird. Why would Huawei do this? Is the stabilisation definitely still working on all resolutions barring 40? My eyes suggest otherwise.
Hi,
When I record a video (with stock camera app) in 4k that is longer than a minute in the photos app it laggs (1-4 fps), the sound is playing normally. When I try to play a 30 sec 4k video it runs smoothly. In other resolution everything is fine.
But, when I play that video in an other app (like Filemanager's built in video player) it is fine.
I deleted app data, and cache, still doesn't work.
I also tried to record a 4k 1 minute long video, wich is about 300MB, then I recorded a 10 minute video in FullHd wich is 1.6 GB, the FullHd video runs smoothly, so I don't think it is a problem with size. What could be the problem?
Same here brother. After i stabilized the video the vudeo become choppy. Or if I see recorded 4k video the video stuck at some piont and show like slidesjow of photos.
For the last 2 days, that is what i am frustratingly suffering. It was not sth existing a few days ago. I was wondering what caused this and saw your post. Appreciate all kinds of recommendations.
If anyone have a solution please let me know, I still have this problem. After June update all of my 4k videos are broken and I can't play them in Google photos.
Are you sure it happens only with videos longer than 1 min? I have the same problem but it's random.
Sometimes videos longer than 1 or 2 minutes play OK, sometimes very short videos lag.
Haven't tried less than 4k, though.
Super annoying - using VLC now.

I am facing the same problem
Hi, so I tried a few things, and it works.
Disable the app. If it asks to replace the app with the factory version click "ok". After that, enable the app, and DON'T update it, even if it asks to.
This worked for me, no problem at all, the 4k works, the slowmotion videos can be played without stopping too.
@Thuyamo so you lost the improved interface, dark mode and all that?
I am just afraid it will cause sync problems or something.

I'm currently on version 4.11, the newest in play store is 4.19 so it's not that old. For me this downgrade didn't cause any sync problem. Since the screen is so dim I don't want to make it harder to see stuff on my phone outside the house?, so I don't use dark mode at all. But yes, I lost the dark mode feature. The improved interface is there, I didn't lose it.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
I'm on 4.18.0.250747830 version, 1st play of recorded video was playing normally, smooth, but 2nd and so on lagging like hell

Try the second or the third one, please let me know if it works.
I don't care if it is working or not, to play videos I'm using MX Player Pro.
I created ticket [9-1423000026724] with Google One Support. Let's see how that goes.
Guys, this is a secret so SHHH don't tell anyone.

(Because, I mean, who in their right mind uses Google-anything. Just joking, but srsly.)
Ok, here is an update on ticket [9-1423000026724] with Google support.
Long story short, they said Google Photos cannot play 4k videos.
So I said that was not true and sent them screenshots of Photos running on an iPhone and on a Motorola Android phone, including the information pop-up that shows the video resolution.
They replied they did all they could and closed the case.
I am so dissapointed with their service. I did not expect a quick solution, but I thought they would acknowledge the bug.
What do we do now? I think opening more tickets with them is all we can do. Hope you guys can help me on that.
I'm running on Miui 12.5.2. I noticed that the phone runs in 120hz on ui,instagram and when using chrome(but when watching a video on it it goes to 60Hz).But on Youtube,Netflix and in games it goes to 60Hz again(including opening youtube inside chrome). This 'Variable' Refresh rate is quite bothering and ruins the point of why i got the phone to watch movies etc in 120hz. Has anyone managed to fix the Refresh rate to 120hz? Any Stock rom or custom rom solutions?
P.S flickering occurs due to this random change in refresh rate too.
I did it bois. This works Fine.

Loll
All movies are at 30 fps and YouTube is capped at 60fps 120fps on YouTube does nothing in terms of video if you want the YouTube app to be 120hz install YouTube vanced but YouTube video playback will never change 60 or 120
