1.Is there any way to modify the fingerprint long press shortcuts?? The provided ones - qr scanner, calender and search - I never use these.
2. If that is not possible, is there any way to atleast change the search to chrome search instead of MI Browser search?
(Note: My default browser is chrome and it still leads to mi browser. I tried uninstalling MI browser and it takes me to play store - item not found page)

I want to know this too. Last I read somewhere, the option to customize it was planned to be provided in some update. But I guess, we don't have it yet.
I have removed most of the Mi apps via adb. So, I get the item not found page for all shortcut items

I think it would be possible if there was some app that could redirect activities - like for example 'if com.mibrowser.search opens open Google search instead' I don't know if it is possible but I'm just guessing based on the 'assistant shortcut app'.
*Wrong topic*

I have the same problem... I mean in the end it's just a link to an apk. You could probably change that to another apk somewhere in the root files. But I don't know where you would look for that...
I made xda account just to post this. Youtube tells us to update from Play Store but it is already the latest version. Apparently there's several posts that had the solution ,but hard to find. and I'm sure some people are still clueless. This is the workaround that I found, just follow step by step to be safe.
Android Version : 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich
Possible Devices: P7500,P7310,P7300
1. UPDATE all your Google Apps. i.e. Gmails, Google needs to be up to date, including YOUTUBE APP (if you uninstalled it already).
2. Go to Settings -> Applications -> All -> Disable Google Services Framework
3. Go to Google Play services , Clear Data, then Force Stop it.
4. Go to Youtube app, Clear Data.
5. Go back to Home screen and run the Youtube app. You have to wait for quite some time in order for it to set.
6. If it pops up displaying "Youtube is not responding". Just close it. and Run it again. IT MAY TAKE SOME TIME SO BE PATIENT. Repeat until it shows the youtube home screen.
7. You be able to run Youtube now. :good::good:
It worked, but now there is another problem. It shows error 400 when opening youtube.
*SOLVED*
Hello to everyone who stumble upon this thread. All the solution given does not work for a long period of time. However there is another better way to use without hassle.
1. Download Opera / Opera Mini and install from Play Store.
2. type in m.youtube.com on search bar and press enter
3. Then can use.
This is the most viable solution without having to think of the workaround as saves your time. With Opera being quite a lightweight browser. It is just as better as trying to run Youtube App.
Thank you everyone.
Hey all,
After days of testing and comparing older APKs, I found the ideal version of Google Maps for the Huawei P40 Pro without GMS:
-no Google Play missing error on startup and/or when starting navigation
-allows saving searches locally on the device instead of having to sign in
Ideally, I wanted to find a version that doesn't come with the annoying "Nearby Places" bloat. Unfortunately this requires using a version 9.xx of Maps which crashes on startup on the P40 Pro.
Get it from here:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/maps/maps-10-29-2-release/
Check my screenshots to see the UI and save search setting!
Also, because we can't create location pins without signing into an account, if the "recent search history" does not suffice, you can create navigation widget shortcuts to your favorite places.
Hope this helps.
I would rather just install microG (quick & simple) ... then install the current version of google maps.
While MicroG is a cool alternative, my idea remains to use this phone without logging into a Google account or bringing back some GMS libraries onto the phone. No app really compares to Google Maps and this version specifically behaves perfectly.
I like the concept .. and I would join you .. if the notifications were reliable with HMS-naked .. but unfortunately pretty much all notifications are unreliable (either nothing or late or random) .. hence I am on the next best thing HMS+microG .. but if Huawei can ever fix the notifications, then I will uninstall microG and join you.

Can you please give details about the Micro G process?

Summary of Options:
HMS-naked (broken/delayed notifications on heaps of apps, even Huawei App Gallery apps)
HMS+microG (simple open-source app for notifications with google firebase cloud messaging)
HMS+GMS (notifications broken)
HMS+GMS+icebox (freeze google play store as required for notifications and unfreeze intermittently for updating apps)
microG
https://microg.org/
1. Perform a factory reset of the phone (as you need to install apps after microG install).
2. Install F-Droid app (search for the apk .. F-Droid is a store with access to search for apps)
3. Add this repo into F-Droid .... https://microg.org/fdroid/repo
4. In F-Droid, then install MicroG Services Core.
5. In F-Droid, then Install MicroG Services Framework Proxy.
6. In F-Droid, then Install the MicroG FakeStore.
6. Open the Microg Settings app. Grant it all permissions and disable battery optimizations.
7. Add your Google account.
8. Turn on Device Registration, Cloud Messaging and SafetyNet.
9. Restart your phone.
10. Open Microg Settings app, check the status under Cloud Messaging. If it says not connected enter the following in the phone app: *#*#2432546#*#* and restart your phone. Check the status again - it should say Connected. (I had to enter the phone string and restart my phone twice until it said connected).
11. Install apps
12. Check connection in microG app for Google Cloud Messaging
All this will give you is push notifications with Google Cloud Messaging (including the Google Firebase messaging).
I also had notification issues caused by either Huawei PowerGenie and Android Doze .. if the notifications work and then suddenly stop after an hour or so, then try these ..

Hi all,
Anybody any idea how to install YouTube Vanced on a stock Mi11?
I've installed the manager and microg from apkmirror but can't install YouTube Vanced as still being blocked.
The previous method of disabling miui optimisations from developer options is no longer there.
.... Alternatively any other way to have YouTube with less/no ads?
Any help appreciated

If your shell can be run as root, search for ad and tracking hosts lists on the net and place them inside of your /system/etc/hosts file.
Also, you could use the app "Blockada".
Those methods will block ads and tracking systemwide, however...
Use puretuber
sorry didn't read the last bit of your question.

You might need to disable MIUI optimization in the developer options. Always work for me. Also fixes a lot of notification issues.

But the MIUI Optimization is not displayed for everyone. For some people, the entry is not there under developer options (like in my case). If you search under settings, it shows the entry but when you click on the search result, it brings you to the developer options where MIUI optimization is not displayed. Seems to be hidden.
Just wondering why for some users it is there and for others not.

Hm I see. I saw the same kind of behavior on the F2 Pro forums before. My only guess is either the region you set, or the MIUI version (globale, Europe, China).
I bought the Chinese version (with region set to France), and the option is there for me.
But yeah, if you don't have it, you either have to use another app/version of Vanced, or deal with the manual installation that requires a PC, Split APK installer and the Shizuku app (kinda a pain to install a single app, but used to do that since I really wanted it on my F2 pro).

Makes sense, thanks for the explanation. I have the global version and the region is set to Germany. The interesting thing though is that several persons bought over the same shop as I did (was a special offer) and some have MIUI displayed and others (like me) do not have it. Maybe phones coming out of different factories or different production lines may cause this.
For now, I will wait to install Vanced. I hope that MIUI 12.5 fixes those things, if not, then I will go the route via Xiaomi EU ROM.
Hello guys,
I have the mi 11 ultra china rom and i do have the option to disable miui optimizations in developer mode.
The problem is that as soon as i do that the fonts look really big and they don't resolve when tweaking the font size etc.
Do you know what are the downsides of disabling the miui optimizations from the developer mode ?
Mind you the rom is working flawlessly so far , i have all the notifications and functions ok.
Thanks !

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone outside MIUI developers will be able to say in details what MIUI optimization really does. All we have is a "global idea" and guesses from experience.
As you experienced, disabling optimization may affect the way MIUI look, mostly the default launcher and fonts. Your icons may look a bit different as well.
Some people report that disabling optimization improves their battery life, while others say the opposite. Same thing for floating windows: for most people it still work, but a few reported that the feature is no longer working while optimization is turned off.
So disabling it may or may not break MIUI-specific features, it really depends on your device from what we see.
Overall, we can't be sure what it will do on your specific device/version. You'll likely have to test by yourself.
Even though I always disable optimizations when I'm on the official ROM, just know that some developers, specifically the devs at Xiaomi.eu, recommend you to keep it on.
Thanks for the info @Eidenz , will keep it on and monitor closely the battery life as well the behavior of the aps.
So far I'm pretty amazed that everything is working flawlessly.
I'm not sure I want to switch to xiaomi.eu but will see..
As a workaround I'm using blokada with some youtube ads blocking list.
It's mostly ok but I do see the ads at the start and sometimes at the end of the video, but not the ads during the video.
Cheers !

No worries. There are even more workarounds if you're interested:
You can disable MIUI optimization to install Youtube Vanced, and then turn it back on. The app will keep working, the problem is only in the installation process.
You may also install Vanced manually using your PC by following the official tutorial: https://www.reddit.com/r/Vanced/wiki/installation
Or you may use that "Pure Tuber" app that got mentionned at the top of this post. Not as great imo, but does the job.
I found out that once I installed YouTube Vanced and enabled optimizations back, Vanced didn't want to work.
Basically it loaded but was faced with a continuous loading screen on each tab of the application.
Tried pure tuber but from what I saw it does consume a bit more power and also the navigation isn't as good as in YouTube Vanced , plus the video resizing is kinda wonky.
Hm, that's weird. I guess it got worse than it used to be on older MIUI versions (and devices).

Thanks again !
I flashed Xiaomi EU rom and I can install YouTube Vanced via Vanced Manager now.
You can also use NewPipe:
NewPipe - a free YouTube client
newpipe.net
With my Redmi Note 10 (EU version M2101K7AG) I was able to install YTVanced after disabling the MIUI optimizations. I enabled them right away after installation and until now I haven't noticed any difference.
Then I updated the system to MIUI Global 12.0.3 and lost the possibility of disabling the optimizations in the developer options.
The only issue I notice sometimes is when opening YTVanced it keeps saying there is no internet connection. I have to go to microg settings and disable the battery optimizations for that app.
I hope that MIUI developers fix this soon cause it is so annoying having to research for workarounds just to install an apk. If I knew this before, I think I would have went with a Realmi instead.
Hello,
When I changed my phone to the mate 40, it transfers the app from my old phone to itself. But I don't receive the notification from the app.
For example I can't receive notification for twitter, Discord, Revolut, or some other apps.
I've eared that you can install microg to have that, but I have micro G vanced, and it doesn't work at all. Only YT Vanced have notification.
Do you have an idea ?
Cheers !

Vanced microg is not the same, you need to follow the instructions to install MicroG not vanced microg. Once you've done that notifications will start coming through. It's the only reason that I've put up with the phone for 4 months!
But can I still use Vanced Microg et MicroG together ? And I have the internationnal version so I can install it ?

There are guides on here, just look. From off the top of my head.
1. Go here https://microg.org/download.html
2. Download Service Core, Services Framework And Fakestore
3. Install them in that order, don't open anything yet.
4. Open the MicroG Settings App (once installed)
5. Click on Self Check and tick everything that is setable (some won't work)
6. Goto Google device registration and toggle to ON
7. Goto Cloud Messaging and toggle to ON
8. Goto Google Safteynet and toggle to ON
9. Exit app and restart your phone, Cloud messaging should still be set when you open up the settings app and show registered apps. When you install/run an app for the first time it should appear in the list (if it uses CMS)
If you find that every now and then your phones battery saver kills the service you will need to open it up and toggle the Cloud messaging switch again. To avoid this I uninstalled powergenie - but that's something you'll have to decide if you want to do or not.
I've installed Auroura store which spoofs the Google play store and gives you access to download apps that you need - a lot have limited functionality because they require GSF but most work fine. Again use at your own risk, I'm ok with using it myself.
