How is the U.S Cellular Model? - LG V40 Questions & Answers

I just bought a U.S Cellular V40 on Ebay for $350. I currently have a U.S Cellular V30 I've been using for 10 months on Verizon and T-Mobile with zero problems. Apparently, all current U.S Cellular phones are factory unlocked. The V30 has no branding anywhere, no bloatware, etc. that you would think it's an unlocked model. I would also be using this V40 on Verizon and T-Mobile as I'm not even in a U.S Cellular service area.
Is the U.S Cellular V40 also free of branding, bloatware, etc?
Does it have any quirks, etc. compared to the other carrier models? Thanks!!!!

It sounds like your V30 was flashed to an unlocked KDZ, the US Cellular devices are definitely full of bloatware on the stock rom. I have a Sprint and my SO has USC, no bootloader access, and bloat on both.

[Q] Why should I buy the TMO model to use on TMO?

Why should a TMO customer buy the TMO Moto X over an unlocked ATT Moto X?
I have 2 Moto X's now on VZW and my fiance and I absolutely love the device. For a battery of reasons however I'd like to switch to TMO soon. I am going to do a TOL, sell the devices, etc. No big. The question of whether I should buy an ATT vs TMO version is for a few reasons. One, I can find a much larger selection of used ATT models on eBay and other sites, so I have more to choose from. Two, is that as far as the bands each are capable of, the only TMO band the ATT model doesn't seem to support is AWS for HSPA. The area I live in is re-farmed already, and within the coming months every market will be re-farmed, so I really don't care about that disadvantage unless I am missing something. Furthermore, the ATT model supports more bands overall, and because I do travel internationally from time to time, it would seem more advantageous to have the ATT version.
Thoughts? I appreciate everyone's time.
Verizon: unlock it and u can use it, probably wont get LTE tho, only band 13 supported.
AT&T: works but it has some bloatware, slightly delayed upgrades, and really only about 100-150 cheaper used
T-mobile: the best, no branding or bloatware, customizeable & new

The bloatware aspect is a fair point, as while it doesn't bother me too much, the WiFi alerts would.
As far as the cost, $100-150/each means $200-300 total, which is a pretty big difference. Customization means little to me as while it's very cool, I will end up with a case on it anyways.
This in mind it still comes down to the bands. If everyone is being re-farmed, then is there any disadvantage to an ATT unit? It has far more bands which is a plus for travel. I'm largely made up, just want to make sure I am not missing a key factor.
AT&T can't be bootloader unlocked.
He doesn't seem to care about that. His biggest concern is radio compatability.
Go with the AT&T X. Save the money and get better use internationally.

XT1058 (AT&T version) does not have AWS UMTS, so you will be seeing EDGE on T-Mobile in places where they don't have LTE yet (for example San Diego, even though it has LTE, has some areas where they haven't switched it on yet, but their HSPA+ works great as long as you have an AWS UMTS compatible device). Eventually this will be a non issue, but it can make your T-Mobile experience worse than it can be. Just keep this in mind when you're suffering with slow data speeds.
You can find an XT1053 (T-Mobile compatible model) on eBay from Nextel Mexico that does have the AWS band for T-Mo. It doesn't have a lot of bloatware, and it has a locked bootloader (even though Motorola says all Latin America Moto Xs can be bootloader unlocked, this XT1053 is not allowed yet. They say they are working on it). Update timing is unknown at this time, but it is about $400. Everything else is exactly the same. I have one and it works great on T-Mobile.
I am a TMobile customer who has used both the XT1058 (att) and XT1053 (TMobile). I live in Kansas City, MO, which is a TMO LTE area. For the most part, both phones work well. However, I have noticed a difference when traveling outside the KC metro area. The XT1058 would mostly be on edge and the XT1053 would be on 3g. The XT1053 ensures I can get HSPA+ in the areas I have been that do not have LTE yet.

[Q] Non Contract 399$ Moto X will work outside US (GSM)

Hi
I have ordered Moto x through my friend in US and i am planning to use in India with GSM network
I have confirmed with Motorola help desk and they confirmed saying it will work with International GSM providers.
Is anyone using it now, buying non contract 399$ phone and using it in India or outside US?
Me along with many other forumers that post around here. Using mines all good in The Bahamas. You will be fine.

It's all about the frequencies that your country/carrier use.
Isn't it a little late to ask this question now when you already have bought the phone?
There are many different Moto X models. Not all can be used internationally. In addition you might need to buy SIM unlock code
Thanks a lot for your replies
I have purchased the unlocked one only
Anyone using in India?
Get the T-Mobile version, it supports the most frequencies, and it's carrier unlocked. That's your best bet.
If you want to make sure, here are the MotoX variants, you can compare the bands they use to your carriers used bands.

Actually the AT&T version supports the most LTE Bands. Though it's downfall is its carrier locked and comes with AT&T bloat and branding on the back. But unlock codes can be purchased for it though.

[Q] I dont know which moto x to pick for straight talk

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about getting a moto x but I dont know which carrier version to pick.
I currently have a droid 4 on verizon and I'm looking to ditch verizon in favor of straight talk in june.
My issue is that they're having a sale on the moto maker site and I dont know weather to choose a Verizon one to use untill my plan stops or if I should get the T-Mobile or at&t version so it will work better with straight talk when the time comes to change.
Something to consider is that 1. T-Mobile has pretty spotty coverage in my area 2. I dont think the moto x can be activated as cdma for straight talk.
Some other questions I have are 1. will a T-Mobile version work just fine on at&t? 2. are there any reasons I should pick an at&t branded one? 3. Are there any reasons i shouldn't pick the verizon version?
thank you for your time
Correct me on this if needed, but all Verizon phones are sim unlocked and work with GSM per FCC agreement. So you could get that version, but I would check it first when receiving it to see if it work with a GSM sim, if not you can get an RMA for a refund. The Verizon edition have the 3G bands to work with ATT, it lacks T-Mobile AWS 3G band (1700). Also it only support LTE band 13, it doesn't support LTE bands 2, 4 or 17 that come with the GSM unlocked version, so you will not get LTE on ATT or T-Mobile.
There is zero reason to get the ATT version what so ever, none, zilch. It's sim locked (though you could ask ATT to unlock it I guess), cannot unlock bootloader. The T-Mobile version is actually the unlocked version, it support every bands required by ATT, both 3G and LTE. T-Mobile version have unlocked sim and bootloader, doesn't have carrier logo nor carrier bloatwares.
Then there is the unlocked GSM Developer Edition which allow you to unlock bootloader without losing warranty, is similar to regular T-Mobile unlocked edition, except that it lacks T-Mobile AWS 3G band. You can get the Dev edition for Verizon as well which have the same bands support as the regular Verizon version. You can not unlock the bootloader for the regular version of ATT and Verizon.

So you're saying I could get the Verizon Dev Moto X, and theoretically toss a ATT SIM in it and it will work on ATT (3G-only)? Has anyone tried this?
I can't guarantee it, but that should be the case, all new Verizon phones have unlocked sim on the GSM side, if they don't they would violate the FCC agreement.
We had a discussion on this, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551692

N920I vs N920T for T-Mobile (US)?

I'm looking to buy a Note 5 outright (no contracts, not buying through a carrier, etc.). There are a few variants I've looked at, including the N920T (T-Mobile's variant) and the N920I (international variant). I don't want to purchase a phone locked to T-Mobile, but I also don't want to buy a phone that could possibly not be 100% compatible with T-Mobile's network. Will the N920I be able to completely take advantage of T-Mobile's US network like their N920T, or does the N920T support unique bands and/or protocols not found on the N920I?
Own a n920i and working on 4g tmobile Holland.
I guess it would depend on which carrier you're going to use . Not all carriers use the same Bands for LTE.
you can check this on the website
Willmyphonework.net
I ordered the 920i for use on At&t, as the 920T was missing one of AT&T'S bands.
How's the phone working for you. I'm looking at buying a tmobile note 5, but was planning on using it on at&t.
How has your experience been on AT&T's network with the 920i? Any issues?

Tmobile G6 unlocked support AT&T radio bands?

So I am thinking of buying a LG G6 Tmobile unlocked. Will it work on AT&T's network? Just asking, looking at the radio bands they appear to be the same on both phones.

Yes my SIM unlocked T-Mobile LG G6 works on AT&T. what you lose is the ability to use Video Calls and AT&T Wifi calling. if you plan to use these features, then it would be best to stick with the AT&T version.
