requerements :
- android pie latest update
- odin flasher
- enable oem unlock
- remove any lock screen
- flash magisk_boot.img.tar via odin
- reset device, all your data will be lost
- install latest magisk manager
- done
can i get your image to flash via odin or do we need to extract boot.img you can give detailed instructions on how to get the boot.img.tar image Thanks for our a8 star device is not supported on xda

My a8 star
Its easy to root.
You just download twrp for g885y , its work to g885f.
Ubl_install twrp_flash magisk.
Tested on my a8 star oreo and pie.

If your phone is branded you most likely can't.
It has to be factory unlocked.

Can I install this with the phone already updated to Android 10?
If my phone OS is already Android 10, can I still flash this boot image tar file?

Thanks. I have since decided to directly root the phone using Magisk without having TWRP on the phone.
What I did was to download the latest stock rom, then let the Magisk manager have the file that starts with "APxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" and let it generate a patched file.
Then I flashed this patched AP file, together with the other untouched parts of the stock rom like BL, CSC, etc on the phone.
It works!

Are u trying to install custom rom
I wanna root my phone and as far as I've been told Magisk seems like the best option right now but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I have the Magisk Manager APK on my phone and the ZIP file too but I don't know what to do after. can someone please help me?

1. Install odin Download Odin
2. Install latest TWRP Recovery Download TWRP for J500h using Odin
3. Install the (latest .zip of Magisk) from TWRP Recovery. Download Magisk
4. Reboot to system
5. Install latest Magisk Manager v8.0.7

It's easy. Just download the exact firmware package for your phone and get the boot.img file out of it by extracting. Then download magisk manager app to your phone and you can patch magisk binaries into your boot image using boot patcher of magisk. Finally flash that patched boot image to your device using ODIN (if samsung) or ADB. That's it. But more importantly remember you need to unlocked your bootloader to do it.

I rooted to my galaxy s10 G973F via magisk. I would like to install recovery 3.3.1 and then flash a new custom rom but odin crashes.. I think I followed all the steps correctly: download twrp img, patch via magisk, turn files into tar with 7zip and finally flash with odin... I'm ing screen

So, should I flash the whole rom with the patched boot.img, or can I only flash the patched file ?
If for some reason install fails, can this damage the hardware or only soft-brick will happen ?

Is it safe to flash boot.img with ADB ?

Flashed *.tar file, there is root and apps work, but in magisk app, SU is inactive, can't press it...
