Workaround for call recording without root? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I recently updated my exynos note 9 to android pie. To my despair i realized that I can no longer record phone calls. I use my phone for interviews, so I need the function. Are there any way you can still record calls? I know the note 9 had a build in recording app, but I can't find it.
If it doesn't work are there any way to down grade your phone to Orio again?

Yes you can revert to Oreo
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/help/downgrading-pie-9-0-to-oreo-8-1-t3894230
as for incall recording

I use ACR call recorder from App Store
you have to be on Oreo for it to work.
get it before they update the the app to google specification.
the support is very responsive and they actually notified of googles policy change
as long as you don't update the app once the update comes out or use pie you will still be able to record

Having ACR 30.2 on 8.1, today updated to Pie with OTA my European note 9 exinos. After that, ACR still records but the only issue I found is a lower level of the voice of who's talking to me but not mine with the phones mic. I aspected that the app didn't work at all, so I think that only the volume issue is acceptable like this. Having recording source in automatic and I didn't try what happens with more dB (left at 0) in volume with m4a. I know that this release of ACR (30.2) should be the last one still having call log permission that the next one won't have in March for Pie so, in March, may not work any more. So, having this and not updating any more ACR maybe should solve.

yes sir

try on Pie with EU firmware and report back in

With THL trick as described in earlier posts _ try searching_, you have native call recording from both sides. You have wifi calling and VoLTE, too. The only thing that I missed is the RCS chat messaging.
Chat messaging is working with Google's android messaging app , but not with Samsung's.
Can anyone, who made the THL change, confirm if he has RCS chat message working?
Samsung Note 9 EUR/THL, EUR/EE
And is amazing that OTA updates are working normally!

Xperia Z3 Compact Android 6 Call Recording

So I am using ACR which I bought about a year ago and it worked perfectly.
It worked even with LP on the same phone. But now I have updated to Marshmallow concept and it stopped.
The software dev says Sony has discontinued call recording features in Android 6. Is there a way to bring it back?
In the software, there is a list of "sound sources" I can select from. I used to use VOICE_CALL which worked fine
but now only MIC works so the recordings only have one side (mine).
Maybe there is a way to bring some library from LP to MM?
I'd love to see this fixed on MM as well. It sounds like the developer is well aware of the issues, and is trying to figure out how to make it work. But it'd be nice to just flash something to fix it on our end. Another thread mentioned Skvalex's call recorder works. I tested it, and it does. It asks for root, which ACR does not. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60567345&postcount=49 details how to get a builtin recording button up to lollipop. Not sure if that'd make ACR work or not, if it were ported to MM.

Is there any working call recorder for mi 9t pro exist?

Hi, I am using mi 9t pro global edition with google dialer. I have tried more than 30 call recorder app and none of them able to record call in my phone. Is it possible to record call in this phone in any ways without root? Please write yes or no ?
Rom Xiaomi.eu record calls
Why don't you just root your phone?
It's incredibly simple, these days. Just use this nifty little app:
Great Tool
Still, even after rooting your phone, not too many call recorders
work out of the box. They either only record one side, no side at all
or don't record over BT headset. However, there's one fantastic app
that actually works 100% with our phone/ROM: Skvalex Call Recorder.
Sure, it's pretty darn expensive, but in my opinion it's totally worth it.
Without root, I doubt you'll have any luck, finding a working one.
Just my 1½ cents....
:good:
I'm using this app on my Mi 9T Pro global version with MIUI 11:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boldbeast.recorder
No root needed, it's free, and it works good enough.
Instead of rooting, I would recommend to wait for Xiaomi to release the updated Phone app that will include call recording again.
I use Callrecorder from Skavalex but you have to be rooted to get it to work flawlessly.
It has a module for Magisk and installing that module will let it install the correct app but it is not for free but works perfect.

You're correct - Boldbeast works fine on our phone.
However;
It's definately not "free". If you don't pay up, you have
to manually start recording, EVERY TIME! Sure, it may
be ok to many people, but certainly not to my taste.
To me, a call recorder MUST start automatically!
And about the built in Xiaomi recording;
No one knows when (if) it'll be available on our
phones. Also, as seen on certain ROM's where it
is already available today, the function has almost
no useful settings at all. With Boldbeast / Skvalex
you get the option to choose from an array of good
features; where to store recordings, which calls that
will be saved (in detail), what quality / format you
want to use etc etc. To me, the built in recorder is
just not good enough. But to each, his own.....
Hopefully, the upcoming built in recorder will have more
useful features, better options & better functionality.
But as of today, no one knows what to expect.
Happy Easter to y'all! :good:
Use indonesian rom for call recording
You can still have call recording feature of mi in new phones by replacing your rom with indonesian or indian version. For details contact me at +92 3357402491

So far, none will work unless of you get the specific firmware(?) that allows native call recording.

I refer you to the thread below, it is not something I have tried personally, but people report that it does work.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/pie-call-recording-wip-t3905737/amp/
You could also flash a custom rom where most if not every stock based rom already has call recording, this obviously trips Knox though.

How To Guide Enable Call Recording on Xiaomi MIUI EEA roms

<Moderator Edit>: Removed self-promoting YouTube video.
Hi guys,
you know how this goes, if you bought a Xiaomi phone in Europe, chances are you ended up with MIUI EEA - which ain`t bad but it comes with google Dialer and Messages. The last two have some great options (RCS messages) and block sapm calls (Dialer) but they are missing call recorder.
Now most of the folks would unlock bootloader and put up xiaomi.eu or china rom or another rom to get stock MIUI dialer and get call recording back... but in case you just lazy or dont want to go that path you can simply replace the diailer with one that supports call recording and it will do the job.
I used TruePhone dialer and it works just great, need some tweaks to get to best audio quality (formarts and etc) and also some visual overhaul, I did a video about it, you can check it here.
What other dailers or call recording tools (like ACR Cube) do you use on EEA?
I am also using this dialer, it is relay cool.
U mnie truephone nie nagrywa. wczesniej mialem lenovo z6 pro tam dzialal ale tel byl zrotowany. Proszę o jakies sugestie.

MOD EDIT: English Translation Below
For me, the truephone does not record. earlier I had a lenovo z6 pro there, but the phone was rotated. Please give me some suggestions.

Not working for Xiaomi note 8 pro global.... how to enable it?
Ask in the Note 8 pro forum, not here.
I've been using this dialer for a while, it never worked on my Note 9 but now call recording works perfectly on my Mi 11
Doesn't work on renoir with MIUI EEA 12.5.5, all recordings only contain silence. The EEA ROMs do not have the necessary system hooks to enable (any) call recorders to work. So good job EU with your stupid regulations. Xiaomi of course must comply to sell their phones here. But they should enable us to get this feature without losing others (i.e. unlocking and flashing a ROM with call recording and losing warranty/find device/certification/stability and so on).
I root my phone (for other purposes) and re-enable call recording on my Google Dialer. So no need to switch.
Admittedly Xiaomi's own call recorder is easier to use, but I am sticking with Google Dialer since it works.
does it work with bluetooth headset? @velqn
Google dailer can record phone calls, i have Mi 11 with Google dailer i have that option.

Yeah, well thats true, but it can do it.
I updated the EU ROM to Indonesian ROM and got the record option. But the folder is always empty.
I put the above dialler and its folder also stays empty. NO RECORDINGS!
Any idea? Should I change something else along with putting record automatically?
Is like I got only the buttons... not the functionality.

I can recommend the app
True Phone Dialer
& Contacts & Call
Recorder
I already bought ACR but, Google fuxed it up so it didnt work anymore unless on Android 5 to 9.
then I actually found one of the comments on Play Store that Aptoide version works.
I tried it on Android 12 and now on Android 13. It records both sides of conversation.
Just be advised that you the instalation package will need to install Aptoide Store first, which, once inside, takes you to install page of ACR.
IMPORTANT: TURN OFF Updates inside the ACR app Settings, so that Google doesnt interfere.
You are welcome.
If you have root your phone, the best soluton is "
