Hi everyone, just got back to another Moto X series again(Rooted X2 ->stock G5 plus -> now X4 A1). Got really used to fingerprint sensor onenav and now with X4 A1 felt quite a step back. Which way would you guys recommend to get it on X4 A1?
Root -> add build prop or?
Root -> Moto stock firmware?
Moto is been keeping the firmware pretty light over the years that I have no problem sticking with Moto Apps(and I actually like them, get quite a few swag points from chopping for flashlight and twist for camera). And I'm not a heavy phone user(just communicate for work mainly, and some light facebook/chrome browsing on lunch break, and some google music via bluetooth while commuting). But OneNav would be pretty critical for my use(now I constantly typed everything wrong as the navbar is present)
Any suggestions which route I should go? Thanks!
Just READ another threads before posting.

that'd be one of the two method I asked up there(root -> build.prop change with magisk). Just wonder if anyone went through similar thought and comment it's better with Moto stock firmware or build prop change
My guess is you should be fine with editing the build.prop, is far less work.

I've done several searches to no avail so, forgive me for just asking outright but, here goes:
Does Netflix (any version) work on any of the custom ROMs that are available for the Moto X at this time? Seems like there's always some issue with it for some reason or another, and so far each time I've tried to get it working it's always the same result on custom ROMs: half the screen is greyed out (usually the bottom half), the top 1/3 is out of place and shifted to one side more than the other, and there's a slice of what should be at the bottom through the middle of the screen...
It's the oddest thing I swear.
Anyway, there doesn't seem to be much about it here in the Moto X subforum, nor anyplace else for that matter so, I had to ask. I can live without it on a custom ROM, but since I'm paying for it each month (primarily the Wife using it a great portion of each day), it wouldn't hurt to use it myself sometime.
If anyone has any clues or info, I'm interested.
Guess I didn't notice till you mentioned it. I never watch on my phone though I use Chromecast all the time

Hello, I recently bought the "Google Cardboard" and I noticed that all apps I tried were shaking a lot (Even if I just leave the phone on the table). It seems to be an Gyroscope issue.
Noticed the same in Google Camera (360ยบ Picture Mode). It doesn't happen in Google Street View as it seems to apply some kind of filtering. Is there any fix for this?
I've been told that the Samsung Phones doesn't suffer from that kind of shaking
Is there any way to calibrate the Gyroscope? Or at least to apply some kind of shaking filter globally to all apps?
Can somebody please confirm if they have the same issue (And if this issue has been fixed on Android L)? [I'm on Android KitKat]
Greetings.

I have the same problem.
Interface of Google cardboard is very shaky.
Google camera's lens blur doesn't work for me; it says device moved too quickly whereas i didn't even move it a cm. (Kitkat)
Everyone should have this problem I think so.
I think the gyroscope is not calibrated correctly

Fixed? Where? In Android Lolipop?
I have Moto G 2014 European version so I still haven't received the Update.
Or is there some other fix? I'm very interested in this.
Okay that message was because a thought this was solved. Anyways it works on lollipop very well. Its very steady but if i try to hold steady it shakes a little. On KitKat my gyroscope reacted very sensitive (slightest movement even registers) So my suggestion is maybe use lollipop? or try this app: A thread about how to recalibrate the gyroscope sensor
Anways hope it works wish you much lucky

I am using lollipop on my moto g 2014, and videos are still shaky!

I'm having the same problem. Mine was working, but I flashed a new ROM and it stopped. I deleted that ROM and went back to stock, but the problem is still there.
When I start moving left, the phone thinks I'm moving right and vice-versa. It hardly detects any movement, even if I do a full 360 rotation.
I am also unable to view VR photos in Google Cardboard correctly. This is really frustrating and I have no idea how to fix it.
Have you had any luck?
I found the same, infuriating problem in all the ROMs I tried.
I read in another thread (possibly another forum, I can't remember now) a post from a Moto dev who acknowledged the issue and stated they would fix it in the next update. I installed the latest 6.0 soak test and the first thing I checked was the gyro, which appears to have been fixed.
Google cardboard runs as smooth as butter, with no shaking or anything.
In CM13 devs have fixed the sensors also added some new ones.
gyroscope is working correctly on CM13 too
Hi all,
I have searched for some info on this on the forum, but couldn't fin any.
I have just bought a Moto G (2014) via Amazon. I am super happy about the phone, and I haven't experienced any of the problems listed in many forums.
However, I do have one: basically, my keyboard sometimes works great, other times it feels like every letter is shifted down by a few millimetres, so I can't write almost anything. It seems to happen randomly at times. I installed two different keyboards, which also allow for calibration, but the difference between OK and bad at random times remains.
As this isn't always there, I would exclude is the hardware specifically. But what's the problem then? Android?
I would greatly appreciate any tip on this.
Many thanks!
G.
So I'm thinking about getting an LG G2 on Verizon, and I have a few questions about it. Is the bootloader unlockable/can custom ROMs be installed on the latest stock OS? Is battery life good? What is your average screen on time? Have you had any problems with the G2?
Thanks for your time.

My experience: xlnt screen, long battery life, easily bootloader-unlocked by Stump v1.2, TWRP is good custom recovery,
and there are lots of good roms being cooked up. See XDABEB and other great dev's work in dev sections here.
On the two I own, both had GPS issues. I took xlnt advice from others here and opened the case, located the GPS antenna,
and put a bit of black tape underneath it to hold it up to the connection on the caseback. Second part of GPS repair is
installing Play Store app called 'GPS Status". It runs in the background and keeps your GPS honest. I had another issue
caused by flashing several roms in a row: lost double-tap-to-wake which is essential on this phone for me. The fix sounds
kinda complicated, but it's done in 20 minutes and now tap to wake is perfect. That fix is also here on xda.
It's a great phone that seems to do everything well.
Thanks!
The reason the GPS gets goofy is because the backplate clip isn't springy enough. I've owned a few Verizon models and never had an issue with GPS.
Later versions (seems fixed now) of Maps would mess up my compass heading at a stop. I never taken my phones apart.
Best phone ever. I love the stock rom. Been using G3 ports lately
So I've had this problem since I bought the phone a few months ago. When listening to music on Spotify or Google play music with the screen turned off the sound begins to stutter randomly, sometimes when I touch the finger print sensor and sometimes it happens without me doing anything. This also happens when the screen is on but less frequently.
Are you having the same issue? If you are, feel free to reply and perhaps post a solution to this problem.
I am, posted it in the official support forum and some rep told me "they will look into it", did you manage to get it working? thought it was an antenna issue (mine doesnt support my carriers LTE basebands but works fine on 3G) but it happened even when I put the device on airplane mode

Nope, I haven't been able to fix this issue. I even flashed resurrection remix custom rom(which is very stable) by zormax but even he couldn't fix this problem.
My device's model is XT1771 btw

Damm, must be an issue with the fingerprint reader and/or pocket detection, it happens less when I'm holding the device or put it "backwards" in my pocket (screen not in contact with my leg)
Did you have the problem with the original stock rom? I upgraded as soon as I got it and according to some posts in the official forum it wasnt an issue before.
Or maybe the xt1771 model is just crap (I have the same one)

I had the same problem with the stock rom. I think there maybe a way to fix this by completely disabling the finger print sensor. Basically the system won't be able to detect the fingerprint sensor at all. I think it might work but I don't know how to do it.

Maybe using a flip cover could work, personally I cant stand them but they should at least cover the fingerprint sensor.
Apparently this model is the only one that has that issue, doubt we will get another OTA update that fixes this but who knows. I issued a bug report, but it will be a miracle if they even read it

Honestly I wouldn't go back to stock even if they fix this issue. Resurrection Remix offers so much more and is so much faster than stock rom at everything. Games run smoother and camera app is way better with built-in filters and more recording options. And the customization is just amazing. I really recommend u flash it if u haven't already.

If u need help flashing just PM me
Btw the stuttery 60fps youtube problem on stock rom is fixed in ressurection remix
Thanks, might try it if I'm able to get the unlock code and TWRP running
So far no luck but really haven't tried more than once and probably forgot to enable USB debugging or something like that. Will give it a shot during the weekend

I didn't need any unlock code to unlock the bootloader. I just used the adb command using cmd and it unlocked immediately. Be careful flashing the new rom. If you delete the nvram file u'll lose the IMEI and your phone won't able to detect SIM cards. Tell me if you want me to help u flash ressurection remix.
Ok
