I bought note9 exynos variant so about week ago and have noticed that when I'm playing audio with lot of mid range I hear distortion quite clearly from the bottom speaker even without eq or dolby enabled, is this a defect or is it how akg/samsung designed it to sound like?
In song like Indestructable by aaro only thing I first hear is distortion and crackling from high to mid high volumes. earpiece seems to play without distortion.
What is it? An mp3 (or other format) saved in your phone (or SD card) or from someware alse like from sporty or internet? Because if you saved it, maybe the volume of the file is registered to much high so, with a pc (or app that dose it) you can change the level to about 2 or 3 dB on peaks (first or second red lamp on the old dB meters ) to eliminate distorsions. These types of distorsions may come even at low volumes of the phone (or what ever it might should be playing it) because the song's volume is to high.
From YouTube and from phone it doesnt really matter and some game sounds too depending on frequency

On that particular song's beginning even at little over half volume when I put my ear close to bottom speaker I can hear crackling, but on full volume crackling at beginning is very obnoxious and its not even that loud. Eq is flat and dolby atmos is off.
Bass full drum plays without problems but its some mid frequencies that easily triggers that distortion or crackling

I have atmos off and also my EQ is set at normal.
I listened to it up to 1.36s mark and couldn't hear any crackling as such. But perhaps some hissing, was observing bottom speaker only. Volume was set at 70%.

Oh so is this note9 speaker unit defective? It doesn't sound like normal distortion or so it sound like speaker hits something or so, in some songs like that quite clearly. In some I don't hear any but that because they don't have that kind of frequency lot.
Or it sounds a speaker that's underpowered.

I put a sample of how that beginning sounds from note 9's speakers at 80% volume, eq set to normal and Dolby Atmos turned off
Hi there!
I've suffered from the same issue on my Note9. I sent it in for repair, and it came back with the same issue again. I have a feeling it might be a software issue, or a board issue. Either way, I've found that I can configure the equalizer and Dolby Atmos to mostly mitigate the issue. My Dolby Atmos setting is fixed on Music mode, and I have a curve on the equalizer, with the 250Hz and 500Hz frequencies at the the 0dB line (although there is a slight amount of wiggle-room for these) and I have my 63Hz and 16KHz maxed, with the other sliders forming a "U-curve"
Hope this helps you,
Tom

I've lost my original headphones. They were a bit tired, but still in good shape.
Now I'm going to buy new ones.
Any sugestions about what should I choose for a nice quality of sound?
Thank you!
i think this with blouetoth and FM Radio can be the best one :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ll+Phones+Accessories-_-Sony-_-9SIA07Y02F2115
http://www.klipsch.com/image-S4A-headphones
Those originals were okay but not that great sounding. If you have a best buy, or not, I suggest Skullcandy Titan. It doesn't matter the color, they should all sound the same. Here's a link so you can read about them. I have them and a pair of kickers too. For the money, $40, you can't go wrong with these. Go read the reviews.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Skullcandy+-+Titan+Stereo+Earbud+Headphones+-+Black/Chrome/9825242.p?id=1218178656643&skuId=9825242&st=skullcandy&cp=1&lp=1
These next ones are a few dollars more but have a "truer" sound but no natural bottom end like the titans do. They are very good. If I had to pick one based on not using an equalizer to tweak anything, I'd pick the skullcandy. What might sound good to me might not sound good to you and vise versa. You can't go wrong for 40 or 45 bucks. They sounded almost as good as a old pair of $300 shure earphones I had. Only problem with those were the earplugs came off kinda easy and they got uncomfortable quickly. It's no fun having sore ear canals.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Kicker+-+Premium+Earbud+Headphones+-+Blue/Gold/1997288.p?skuId=1997288&id=1218305392865
If you have voodoo sound installed, the titans can be damn loud. One of the problems with the titans is you'll hear how crappy your overly compressed mp3's sound and how bad some streaming radio, even pandora, can be. With some good and clean sounding flac music files... it's kinda hard to describe and I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, I occasionally gets chills with some music. Weird involuntary responses to good and clean music on a great set of headphones or earphones.
I'm listening to some old 80's crap now and kick drums sound nice and tight... I was watching movies on my galaxy tab with the titans and they sound great with things like rumbling thunder. The lows are definitely there but are tight, not fat and sloppy.
Sony Ericsson MW600+good earphone or IEM+Voodoo Sound+FLAC = another eargasm

you can buy additional cable with microphone also
very good music quality, good basses and treble
In case of in-ear hp, try one of these:
Brainwavz M2, Klipsch IMAGE X1M/IMAGE S2, NuForce NE-700M, Monster Jamz, Sennheiser CX400 II Precision Black.

So far the answer is yes unless you count the upcoming HTC Sensation XE that comes with Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.
I just picked up the Sennheiser HD25-1 ii. I like them a lot, rugged, utilitarian and great sound (better than my Bose over ear headphones). Passive noise cancelling is also pretty good for this type of headphone.
i would suggest the Sennheiser CX 200, not very expensive and great sound with nice bass

Well I dont know if are the only headphones that allows you to control the music player but this one can do it just fine. Baught them from amazon uk couple of weeks ago and am super happy with them

I have these and I love them! These have the in-line mic, but the have another model with out it. I must note that I am using them with the optional foam tips, they are made of a memory foam so It makes them really comfortable and does an awesome job of isolating outside noise. I find that I can listen to music at a lower volume and have better sound quality and listening experience.
These are the tips I use: http://www.amazon.com/Comply-T-200-Black-Pairs-Medium/dp/B004HKIAB0/ref=pd_sim_e3

exactly, very good hp with very good foam. N700 and Comply T-200 - perfect match.

Are there any good headphone adapters these days? There was one from Griffin (SmartTalk) but it seems to be sold out everywhere. To clarify a bit, by headphone adapter, I mean something that provides an in-line remote, a mic and a line out for regular headphones.

this one used for the digital cameras as you know
anyone tested it yet ?
is it working with the camera to get some HD sound as the videos ?
help please
Anyone help ?
I'm not sure what you're asking here, stock roms already have stereo audio recordings in them (although last time I checked the left and right channels were swapped). Plugging in an external Mic should use the external Mic for recording but it won't be stereo, as far as I know.

i don't think it's the needed quality .. i mean HD sound like the digital cams
i already tried the vid recording with my note 2
i found it's almost same as Galaxy s 2 .. not very good sound quality

external mics should perform better but I don't think you'll be able to record stereo audio with them. Maybe if the external Mic is a stereo one, but I'm not sure.

I can't offer any answers to the original question, but what are you trying to acomplish? To record stereo audio, you need two microphones with some seperation. Even if the external mics have two microphones in one package you are not going to achieve much in the way of stereo sound. You need physical seperation off the microphones in order to record in "stereo". Too close together and you get basically the same signal on both mics which would give you basically the same results as a mono mic.
Good Luck!
Jason
simply , i need HD sound same as the digital cameras
because the sound of the vid record with the mobile is very bad sound while there's a good image
no need to get a digital camera if i got this quality of the sound " in my case "
can i do it with a normal external camera stereo mic like the one i posted the photo above ?
I'm not sure how the phone deals with external mics which aren't part of a headset as I've never used them, but plugging in my headset makes it use the external mic on the headset when recording video/audio.
Also the galaxy camera is fine using external mics, so I'd imagine the note 2 works with them too.

Yes i tried the stock headset that comes with the note 2 and it records
but i found the recorded sound is mono not stereo
maybe a usb mic or mic plus a usb dac would enable this, like other posters said if you want quality you probably want two mono mics
Hmmm .. Anyone having usb mic can test it

Hi Guys
I bought the Nokia BH-505 bluetooth stereo headset, it is great for music but awful for playing games as there is the problem of sound delay. So the sound of every click i make on the phone is delayed by around 1 second which makes it really annoying
I came across the Jaybird bluebuds X and the review about them seem to be great in terms of sound quality and comfort, but I am not sure whether they also have the issue of the sound delay.
Has anyone used the bluebuds X and can confirm whether there is delay or not, or even if someone can recommend a good bluetooth stereo headset that has no delay
Thanks
I have the Bluebuds X and I haven't noticed any delay. I just use them when I'm working out so I couldn't tell you how they perform when playing a game. For music they are pretty awesome.

Hi guys
Thanks for the feedback, but my main concern is the audio delay which you cannot detect when listening to music. Can you try a game and check whether there is delay. For example when you press the fire button in a game do you hear the fire sound immediately or do you hear it delayed by almost a second? Thanks

I swap mine with TSX500 last week, first I thought it doesn't fit, hard to put the bluebuds inside the foam, but after couple tries, it went in, better comfort, better sound outputs.
An Alternative
I use these:
http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phone-accessories/lg-HBS700-tone
Unfortunately, after testing them with Inotia 4, I found out that the delay is there for these, too. It's kind of strange, though, since there was no such delay before when I used them on my Sensation XE. And then again, when I used them with my Vita, the audio was delayed, too.
Anyway, if you're still interested, there's a newer version of these, the Tone+ or HBS730.

I ordered a mix pack to test out all the sizes. I ended up fitting best with a medium as far as I can tell so I gave the small ones to my GF and I may or may not use the large ones some more to do more testing to see if the larger ones offer better isolation and retain relatively the same comfort.
Delay is there

I have had the BBX's for roughly 2 weeks now. I have only noticed a delay when my phone is "sleeping." Otherwise this is the best set of bud headphones I've owned since I bought my Soul SL99 last year. Now to get these foam earplugs everyone is talking about to finalize the fit!
Wow. I just checked for these on Amazon.co.uk and apparently JayBird think that $=£, as they're trying to sell them for £170 (almost $260) compared to their $169 price in the US :/
do you still need those little "wings" on the earpiece once you install the Comply buds?

nice, but it would be good if the video shows how is the sound before and after applying the mod.
and, as we are going to use the ear piece to play sounds, does it have any other effects as ear piece isn't designed to play sounds at higher volumes etc..,
It's actually one of the top mods in the Nexus 5 Themes & Apps forum.

They got it from XDA in the first place. Check out the OP to see who's mod it is and where it comes from.
There's also some newer versions in that thread that reduce distortion as well as enable true stereo (separate left & right channel audio).

I wonder if it's actually wise to crank up the volume on the earpiece. Nice thought, but I need my earpiece to work for phone calls. I can always use headphones or bluetooth speaker for music. (which will sound much better)

nice, but it would be good if the video shows how is the sound before and after applying the mod.
and, as we are going to use the ear piece to play sounds, does it have any other effects as ear piece isn't designed to play sounds at higher volumes etc..,

this is a foolproof mod i would say... when headset is connected, phone does what it is meant to do.! only when main speaker works, earpiece also work...
and during incall if you put loud speaker, sound doesn't get mixed! so all works perfectly and does what its meant to do!
like you said, earpiece isnt meant to handle such volumes, which is why during notification arrival, if the volume is set to high, you can hear a creaking sound... but this can be avoided if sound is kept below 60-70%...

It's actually one of the top mods in the Nexus 5 Themes & Apps forum.

thanks for pointing out to the original post.! couldnt find this one!
It is the most interesting mod i have ever seen on android .
since i got my nexus i didn't like the sound quality at all , But making the earpiece to act as a speaker is a nice idea .
Now there is some balance in the sound direction .
Thank you for sharing :good:
Same reason why I also went for this mod!

Yep

This is NOT a true stereo sound, only 2x mono - but still better than single mono.
Thanks for the zip file brother
Awesome mod.
Runs great on stock 6.0.1

I've noticed it's not the loudest but it also depends on where I'm at....It might have to do with the waterproofing. Not positive on that but it wouldn't surprise me if that's part of it...
It's pretty low for me too. Haven't compared it to my note 4 yet though.

Have you gotten it wet, that's when mine gets so low. The earpiece volume is so bad when wet I cannot hear the other person at all. Also the speaker volume sucks till it's all dried out, which takes forever.

thats one of the first things i do when i setup my phone. they are all maxed and still hardly anything. just played need for speed no limits and almost no volume at all from the speaker. headset volume is fine but almost nothing from the speaker itself
Lower then my s7 edge at times but overall i can hear everything just fine.
Media volume and in call speaker phone.

Good to see that you got the the Note7, I am a big fan of yours. Your ROMs on the Note 4 are awesome.

Yeah the speaker sound is muffled by the waterproofing which I was afraid of.
My note 4 and 5 are way better and the nexus 6P light years better with front firing speakers.
Id be happy to get rid of the waterproofing for a better speaker.

Hiya Force, long time no talk to....
Sorry but I disagree about losing the waterproofing. That's a keeper..lol.
Me personally don't use the external speaker enough to where I would give up waterproofing but I guess I can understand if someone else did.
I'm just happy to have waterproofing. Now only if I had the courage to jump in my pool and use it...lol

Yep long time no talk for sure lol, seen you around a bit now on the 7 though
We are definitely on opposite ends of the spectrum here though. I have zero need for wateproofing but use the speaker a ton.
Guess i bought the wrong device lol..axon 7 would be a good one and i still may nab one as they are cheap.
