Hello,
I have strange issue with a sound.
The problem is that when I watch something on youtube aplication with volume on max and when I receive a message from messenger my youtube gets on a very low volume (maybe the lowest) and I have to volume it to the max again.
I am on Pie .195 update.

Hello. That is not an issue. It's a priority for notifications. Even my old P9 does that while listening to music or watching a video on youtube. It does that so you can notice the notification. I also have an Asus Zenfone 3 with android Oreo, does the same.
I think you can change this from settings, but did not look too much into it.
I think you can disable this for the app you want by going to settings/apps/youtube (or music,or any other app you want to keep its volume) and then "notification management",then choose priority display.
I did not test this,I am at work and can't try it right now.

I restarted my phone and it is now like it should be I suppose.
Youtube gets "silenced" for a second when I get notification and then it return to its original Volume.

i have not had any issue like this but could you of possibly damaged the speaker some how and that could be why everything is so low.
what rom are you running or are you on stock rooted.
I am stock rooted
after 5-6 reboot sound is back
motox is only 2 months old and barely used
I will see if it comes back and will call motorola if that comes back

I had a similar experience with the Touchless Controls voice. My phone would have normal volumes, but I could never hear what it said back to me. I contacted Moto Support, and they said this is a known issue, and they are looking for a solution. Until then, the support lady said to use the volume rocker to turn the volume down a few times, then turn it back up. I did this, and the readout voice for the Touchless Controls was back to normal volume.
You can try this... but YMMV.

I've had similiar experiences when I was playing music, then the touchless controls would interrupt to read a message. When it was done, the music would come back on, but much quieter than before. It would usually go back to normal volume on the next song or by switching music apps.

Notification sound too quiet at first

Hi.
I have searched for this problem and haven't found anything useful. When I get a notification from let's say Facebook Messenger, it's either too quiet or doesn't produce a sound at all. After a couple messages get through one after another, it gets louder.
Is there a setting I'm missing?
I've noticed it too. Whats weird is that this happened to my Droid 3. Its annoying. A great example was my alarm this morning. I heard it really lite then it jumped to its correct volume setting. Every, please chime in if you've been noticing this!
Noticed this on alarm. I don't mind ascending volume but it's not ascending volume at all - more like very low and a crescendo to its normal volume.
This is new with Lollipop for me. It happens with all sound. I can even go to the volume settings, and the first time I 'preview' a sound it will do the same thing before it corrects itself (afterwards the previews will then work fine until I pause for a minute and try again.. then same problem).
Bumping this.. becoming a problem. Anyone have a fix or workaround?
In addition to above, I'm also noticing that I have my volume set to max.. but occasionally I'll find it somehow reset itself to "mid" levels.
I don't think this is something that can be turned off or on, most likely it's some kind of bug. Let's just hope it gets fixed soon, it's really annoying
The Motorola forms say it's a safely feature, preventing you from damaging your hearing if it goes off while it's next to you head. It should at least be an option.

I found that if I use the volume rocker to change the volume it sometimes makes the volume turn off. Instead I go into settings/sound and change the volume from there
Same issue here. Samsungs have this exact same "feature" too, drove me nuts back when I owned one. When I create ringtones, I create them with the intent of getting the impact of the song or melody right in those first few seconds, and "increasing ring" completely ruins it. I installed this app for the Samsung back when it was on either ICS or KK, but sadly it doesn't seem to work with Lollipop. Maybe we can all bug the developer to make it work with Lollipop?

I'm rooted, so if anyone knows where to go in the system files to change this, I'd be willing to try it.

I don't think this is an escalating ringtone feature -- I think it's a bug. Possibly it's just really poorly implemented, but I've used escalating volume on ringtones with CM before and compared to that, the volume inconsistencies here are far too sudden and inconsistent. For example, sometimes half my notification is quite (or possibly completely silent?) and sometimes the entire sound comes out at the desired volume.
It also does it for tone it makes when you change the volume (i.e. the first time you click vol up/down, the tone it makes is way too quite, then you have to change the volume a couple of more times to get it play at the correct volume). Hopefully this isn't something they designed on purpose, b/c if it is then that's just a terrible user experience (why would I want the preview of how loud I'm making the volume to come out at the wrong volume?)

After using my Moto X for almost a week, I'm starting to see what you're saying, but I'm not sure Motorola would see it as a bug. I've noticed more than once my phone will be sitting right in front of me, and while the screen flashes on for a notification, no sound follows it, even though my notification volume is clearly up. If I go back in and try running manual tests, the notification sound works fine. It's possible that my notification tone (I picked Tejat) is just so short, that the 1-2 seconds it plays for is enough to get lost entirely as part of that initial volume ramp up.
Also have the same issue as you with the initial press of the volume control rocker as well...this issue also seems to extend to any menus that involve picking a sound file to play (like picking a ring tone). Any initial file played will always have its first few seconds lost, and then all sounds will play fine afterwards. If you exit the selection menu and go back in, same thing happens.
My guess is that the initial time an app plays a sound, the first few seconds get lost...following that, it'll play it ok. If you exit the app, it seems like this behavior is reset...which could be where it feels like the volume is inconsistent. But this overall behavior does seem like a permanent escalating ringtone "feature".
This is definitely a "feature" that's coded in the framework. There used to be an xposed module that would take care of this and turn it off. I think it's highly specialized to each individual ROM/device, but you guys that are rooted could try it and see if it makes a difference. I know I will once I get my device.
This is part of the system I think. Because when I get a message notification although is less than one second I can hear it perfectly loud and clear even with the phone "deep sleep", but when I get a call the ringtone always sounds very smooth and after one second goes louder. I think this should be an option and no a " must have"
I have the same problem with ringtones, notifications and in-app sounds, and it all started since I upgraded to Lollipop, so I don't think this is a feature, because it didn't happen on Kitkat. Also, when using Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger I noticed that the internal sounds of these apps are messed up, they sound very very quiet or they don't sound at all.
I think we should go to Motorola forums to let them know about this annoying bug.

Agreed, this has to go up to software issue. I mainly bought the X over a Nexus 5 due to the front facing speakers, it is quite a shame that the one thing I was looking forward to has a flaw on it (at least with the lollipop update).
I've noticed this issue too ever since the Lollipop update. At first I thought I had done something wrong because I couldn't find anyone else reporting the problem, but a buddy of mine said he noticed it too. I don't see how this could possibly be an intended function, as most stock notification sounds are so short that they finish before the "crescendo" actually gets to a high enough volume. It also doesn't happen on a consistent basis. I can get one notification that is perfectly loud start to finish, and the next will start super quiet or be completely inaudible.
Does anybody know if there's a support thread for this with Motorola?
I just opened up a discussion on the Moto support forums for this issue. Hopefully something comes from it.
Workaround!!!
Settings --> Sound & notification --> Audio Effects --> Turn the Equalizer OFF for the speaker.
Worked for me!

Lollipop broke the Audio?

Updated to Lollipop yesterday. Of course I'm using Sony's official update and not CM12. So yeah I didn't bother to.watch any videos or listen to music because I updated my phone very late at night. But today, I realised the Audio seems broken. How is it broken? Well, I play a YouTube video at max volume. Seems fine but a little soft for being at max. As soon as I drag it down just a bit, it's like impossible to hear anything. When it reaches half volume, it feels like the minumum volume and the minimum volume feels like it's muted. Anyone have the same problem?
Tl;dr: Can't hear jack **** on near max volume

Umm, nope, I can notice cause I consume a lot of media on my phone.
Weird thing is, bluetooth is weird. I use it in my car, and in KK, when I made a call, it'd change to the phone audio on its own. Now it stays on bluetooth audio until the call connects and then switches to the phone audio mode. This was the case even with AOSP 5.0 ROMs :/ it's weirdly inconvenient cause if I'm using the aux, I won't know if the call is about to be connected, cause I can't hear the ringtone on the call :|
I'm using locked rooted Kitkat,
updated via Sony PC Companion without wiping anything
after the updating to lollipop, it charges so slow, even when it's turned off
I used all the chargers here.
I'm planning to go back to kitkat without losing any app data.
I have no recovery and not rooted in lollipop. What can I do?
sound is definitely broken, because xloud is missing, clearaudio+ isnt working neither.

Notification sound too low (mono versus stereo)

Just got the Note9 after have the 8. Nasty surprise when I found out it is almost impossible to hear notification sounds on this phone due to streaming through only the bttome speaker while all other audio is through both. Samsung states its a "limitation of the device".... So that.
Anyone know of an app or other method that would allow me to set the notificatio sounds to stream as rigntone or media to get them in stereo? I tried Lightflow and setting the sound through there as a full ring tone, but it still streams the audio as a notification through the bottom speaker only.
Bump
It's lower than the note 8 I think.
Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk
It's definitely lower than the Note 8. Not sure why only the notifications play through one speaker and all others are through both. An app or work around would be incredible.
Hey guys, having the same issue here. I am using an app called Volume Booster Goodev. No root needed. Just set the volume to go up by 10% and you should be fine. I know I am, cause I missed my notifs before... Good Luck!

I noticed the low volume when playing podcasts. I downloaded the app you recommended, and now I'm happy! With the 10% increase there is no distortion, only loud clean sound. Thanks

Happy to help! The only thing they recommend is not to go over 40% increase. But 10% is enough anyway

Not as straight forward, but if you have used it, Tasker will play the sound through as stereo once set up. Works really well :good:
You re welcome, glad I could help
Hi. Does it also rise the in call volume?
I don't feel like it helps...my calls sound is low
But still it is not activating the upper speaker.
I see this post is quite old. But, wanted to report Volume Booster GOODEV solved *my* problem as well. Thank you *so much* for posting this solution! btw, had to use a tor browser to post this reply (XDA's server won't allow me to register a user *and* post from the same IP in a short period of time??) lol

Speaker quieting itself while playing Media, Ringtones, etc.

I've seen this brought up before other places but I've never seen an answer or a fix. My G6 starting quieting itself after playing a sound for a few seconds. It does this with ringtones, videos, alarms, everything that goes through the speaker. Headphones work fine, and the volume is at Max, even just changing the volumes in settings and it plays and example of the volume, it will quiet itself down within a few seconds however the slider stays at the maximum. I've had the phone for quite a while and it just started this a few weeks ago on oreo. I'm now on Android 9.0 but the issue is still there. Safemode doesn't help and if I do the Moto hardware test it plays at full volume without quieting down at all. Just wondering if anyone found a fix for this at all? Thanks!

I believe the settings are different for Dolby audio in 9.0 but I did not have the leveler on with Android 8.0. It seems like it turns the volume down to around 50% 3-4 seconds into any playing audio through the speaker.

Plug in headphones, you get more options. Don't know if it helps. Might be a defective phone. I only get that when a notification comes through
