Hello,
I have a SM-N960F mobile with version SAOMC_SM-N960F_OXM_XME_OO_0018 XME/INS,INS/XME. Mobile network shows a 4G icon instead of the usual LTE icon. Is it possible to get LTE support without rooting the device?

Did you ever come to a resolution? I am considering picking up a SM-N960F/DS Samsung Galaxy Note 9, installing LineageOS 17.1 with MicroG and use with T-Mobile in the US. Is T-Mobile US your carrier? Thanks for your time.
I don't see the issue as 4G is LTE. Having the Icon changed won't make any difference in performance speed

4G is LTE! So rooting will make no difference! Try this app as it allows you to lock network bands! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.samsungbandselection&hl=en_US might increase performance!
i spoke to soon 4G is not LTE LOL"While 4G LTE is a major improvement over 3G speeds, it is technically not 4G. However, most cellular carriers now advertise their networks as 4G LTE, because it sounds the same as 4G (or even better). In some cases, your phone may even display 4G LTE-A (Long Term Evolution Advanced), which is even closer to proper 4G."

4G stands for HSDPA+
Many Operator in Europe (T-Mobile DE, Vodafone IT) support HSDPA+ with >21Mbit.

True but not exactly, because after December 2010 (ITU changed specs a little), LTE and WiMAX can also be referred to as 4G technology even though it does not meet speed requirements of 4G, that is really confusing since in e.g. USA 4G can mean WiMAX...
With ITU (telecommunication standardising body) it's all about the peak transfer capability if technology can reach certain threshold it gets the 4G tag...
This is a bit illogical since e.g HSDPA+ is not that much technologically different from standard 3G family derivatives as it is from "newer" LTE, or WiMAX ... long live confusion.
hope this helps

Um. Being a dev I still only got that bit :L

the BBC reported today there is going to be LTE testing in selected areas
the gsm 4g in states is HSPA+ or whatever is called . And the G2x or O2X has i think QUAD bands wcdma , so i think that is why you see 4g . The H was replaced by 4G. In states 4g is just for marketing. A real 4g i can say is the LTE from Verizon , but WIMAX , and HSPA are no 4g in my opinion .
http://imgur.com/a/E7wY0 < Pics lol. So My Phone wasn't showing LTE at the top and it's had a "!" with 5/4 bars showing so I panicked thinking I didn't have LTE (Which I did, I don't know why the Symbol went AWOL) so I went into Networks setting and changed Preferred Network Type into LTE (recommended) about 30mins later I got the LTE Symbol back. So Is there anyway I can change it back to "Global" and not LTE (recommended)? I just wanna make sure I can get 3G/2G when needed even tho I normally get 4G LTE everywhere I live hehe. I have bad OCD lol and this is affecting me badly LMAO
Is global really needed if you're in the states? I have mine set to LTE as well but I get 3g.

Hi All
1st time post just got my K3 and have been using this thread as a informed KB, I have rooted and have the latest Vibe rom which is Android 5.0 . I also have the Google app store and play services from , can't post links as i have less than 10 posts
What i am trying to understand is why i don't have a 4G even though the Sim is 4G and it works as 4G in a Galaxy S4 , is this a Rom limitation ?
Thank you

I have the same issue. Have you found a solution?
Not a ROM limitation. Have a look what frequencies your mobile operator uses for LTE. The K3 note can only use these.
Networks:
2G: GSM 900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz
4G: FDD-LTE 1800/2100/2600MHz

So if you're on o2 you're screwed?
Afraid so. I`m with giffgaff which runs on the O2 network but I don`t use 4g as it`s patchy at best where I am. It`s a great phone for the money.
Hi,

I got my k3 note. I'm annoyed by the auto launch app after finished install from Google play.. any idea how to get rid of it?
I've had my phone for two weeks and it's never been able to connect to LTE. Am I the only one experiencing this issue?
ATT has my IMEI in the database and still no success.

You do realize that Oxygen OS doesn't show an LTE icon for LTE service? LTE is still considered 4G service, and as such it's only reported as 4G.
Download LTE Discovery, it will tell you if you're on LTE or not.
Straight Talk MVNO: AT&T Towers
OxygenOS: No, I only get a "4G+" which after a while seemed like it was as fast at LTE if I got good reception. Either icon next to the signal icon means the same thing.
Sultan's ROM: Yes, I see the LTE icon, and I even get the LTE icon indoors where I used to not get it on Oxygen OS. The APN was automatically in the system as well on this ROM.

Take a look at your APN's. If they look right, give AT&T a call.

Already did that, no worky. So maybe the phone is just defective, or OnePlus sent me one for the Chinese network and but the USA.

I might have an answer to this. I recently bought a TA-1005 SS HK 11A1NB21A05 variant. On the box label it lists these LTE Bands 1/2/3/4/5/8/12/13/17/20/28/38/40/41.
This is odd because for some reason Nokia Support when I last checked stated that there were no variants of the Nokia 8 Sirocco available that supported US LTE bands. On the box label it clearly shows otherwise. Other sites and LTE band checking sites are conflicting too.
Do you know if there is a way to check band locking or available bands from a diag menu? I know of the Info menu available from the dialer, but maybe there are other hidden menus to confirm this with.

To follow up on this I see wifi calling and VoLTE provisioning are good. I still don't know officially if band 12 exists but the phone works fine on T-mobile.
