Hey Everyone,
Why is there more Development on Exynos chip-set than the Snapdragon chip-set?
I have the note 9 Unlocked and it has the Snapdragon chip-set and there is basically no roms, and there isn't even ROM with pie along with the one UI.
Out of all the the Samsung phones i ever had the Exynos and Snapdragon usually have about the same amount of people creating ROMS and mods for it.
Because the American Snapdragon handsets are locked and the devs have Exynos phones. Currently running Bootleggers on my Exynos and loving it.

So..it's been like 2 months almost and there is no roms or anything..is there anything I can do to help increase the likely hood of a rom??I'd love aosp rom but for some reason there is none for any s6 edge variants why is that?any help is appreciated
i think i has to do with it having an exynos cpu. and att variant has the bootloader locked.
Hi
I'm going to buy the new Galaxy Note 8, the version in my country is dual sim N950F/DS (Exynos)
I'm a big fan of Snapdragon processors, and i like to change my phone roms and mod it.. So is Exynos version will be enough for me?
Or Snapdragon version will be the best choice!
So i was wondering if anyone can help me to choose the best model i can be happy with
@virus_egypt
I have owned both a Snapdragon and Exynos Note 8. I sold my Snapdragon because I wanted root and have no regrets.
If you take a quick look at the Development threads, you're going to see that Exynos is the preferred choice given that it has an unlocked bootloader out of the box.
Therefore custom development will be more frequent.
So if you want to root, mod, or flash custom development contributions, go for a Exynos.
I'm positive with SamFAIL being released for Snapdragon devices, you will eventually see an evolution in development but potentially not as much enthusiasm.
Please feel free to add on.
Hi guys,
Coming from an Exynos Note 5, I'm about to upgrade to Note 8. As always, I root and flash custom rom to my phone all the times, since I cannot stand the stock rom.
Now, I have this obvious question that a lot of note 8 noobies like me might have - which model will have the best dev supports?
Snapdragon or Exynos based devices??
millions of thanks in advance.
Several people have asked the same question here - you may want to search next time. The short version is that outside North America and Hong Kong, the Note 8 models are all Exynos, and those are easier to mod due to unlocked bootloader. The Snapdragon version does have a root method now, but per history the Snapdragon versions never have as much development as the Exynos versions.
Thank you!
I will search more thoroughly next time. Exynos versions it is then.
I think they use snapdragon in chinese market too.
I'm seriously unsure if it's better to go for the snapdragon, but If buy that version will I get as update as quick as the Exynos version?
No, Exynos will get updates earlier. Also Exynos version can record a calls

What are the advantages of the Exynos variant? Only one I'm aware of, you'll have a larger selection of Custom ROM'S. Snapdragon SoC is now faster, better optimized for gaming, AI, 5G and is offered with an unlocked bootloader. Do you plan on rooting or flashing your device? If not Snapdragon is your best bet.
Yeah, it seems to boil down to whether you want/need an unlocked bootloader. While there have been some unlocked Snapdragon S models in the past, they are in limited markets and have had very little development compared to the Exynos models. For my usage, the Exynos is the only option, and some of the performance difference will be clawed back by custom kernels/ROMs. And since I'm coming from a rooted Exynos S7, the S10e will be a solid performance jump. But if rooting didn't matter to me, I'd go with the Snapdragon.
For some reason I thought the snapdragon models were easier to create roms for but so far I only see roms for the models that have the Exynos CPU. Is this true? Are there any roms for g973u or g973u1 models?
No, it's been known for years that the G973U1 phones are locked down. You're already getting a superior phone with the Snapdragon processor so you'll have to live with it.
Thanks for the info. I've rooted and rom'd every phone I have ever had including my galaxy s7 international. I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to buy a phone that can't be rooted. That said the galaxy s10 is an amazing phone and Samsung's camera app is pretty sweet. One of my main motivations for rooting is for installing the google camera app
My s10+ exynos rooted is for sale
The U.S. variants of the S9 and S9+ just got root like 2 months ago. It'll be awhile before the S10 gets root if it's even going to be possible. A lot people are saying no that root will never come to the U.S. S10 model line.
