Is it just me or doesn't the video recorder have autofocus? I seem to remember that on my SGSII I could point the camera and before starting to record I could press anywhere on the screen where I wanted focus and then start recording.
This works on the Note on the still camera but not on the video camera
Anyone knows if there's a fix for it?
brgds... /Tubgirl
Yeah there is no way to select what you want in focus in video mode. Hopefully Samsung address this in ICS update
I cannot believe how many problems the Note has...I should be better than GS2...
I know that iPhone have this feature. User can instantly switching between front and rear camera to record video. Don't get confuse with dual camera mode, which records video on one file with thumbnail within. A friend of mine was wondering if the Note 3 have this feature or not. I tried to google around but it seems to me that this feature does not exist at all. Can a user on Note 3 record a video via rear camera and instantly switch to front camera and record video? Does anyone know if there is some sort of app to do that? Thanks in advance.
Hello people! I'm trying to record video with my new OP3T, but when I watch the recording, the video frame size (or field of view I suppose) is smaller than what it looks like when I'm shooting. I mean the video resolution is still 1920x1080, but things at the edges of the screen are now out of view. I'm using 1920x1080 @30 FPS, stock camera app, Android 7.0. Same thing happens with other resolutions and FPS settings, and with OpenCamera app for example. But it does not happen when taking pictures, and even when I take a static shot WHILE shooting video, that picture comes out fine.
Is this a known issue? How could I solve this? Is there any modification that could help?

Seems to be a known issue. Watch this video (pay attention at 3:30): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFC9OB85Tpk&t
I don't know if this can be solved as i received my 3T yesterday and haven't had a chance to use the camera yet.

It seems so, yeah. Do you know if this sort of cropping happens during shooting or is it a separate process that's done afterwards? I figured this might be solvable somehow, since you do see the whole picture while you're recording. So it's not a physical limitation of the camera lens or anything.

Noticed that OpenCamera has a function to enable Camera2 API, which fixed the cropping! Also I found that on stock camera app, recording on 4K UHD (3840x2160) doesn't crop the video frame. But it limits to 10 minutes per shot (also workable on OpenCamera due to its restart recording function.)
It's the electronic image stabilisation. It needs to zoom in a little bit to stabilize the video. That's why the 4k isn't cropped, because in 4k, there is only OIS, and not EIS.

Exactly what I thought was the cause of it, thanks for clearing this up ??
Is there any way to disable stabilisation? Different camera app, some mod or something? Even OpenCamera doesn't specifically have a setting for that, but I guess Camera2 API doesn't support EIS or something, which feels like a crutch "solution" at best.

Scan build.prop see if there is some line related to ois or eis.
I've tried a whole bunch of camera apps and so far the stock app is the only one that seems to be able to access 60fps recording. Every camera2 probe app I've tried reports 30fps as the max reported speed the device can use which makes me think Oppo have locked out any other apps from accessing it.
Another possibility I'm wondering is if it's not actually true 60fps at all - and it's actually using frame interpolation at 30fps to create the 60fps - although it does seem more natural playing back the recordings and doesn't seem to have the slightly "unreal" look that interpolation usually gives.
There also seems to be no way to select any other camera besides one of the main cameras on the back and the selfie camera on the front when using 3rd party apps.
It just seems a bit of a f-you to have them tout the camera setup as a main selling point of the device while at the same time locking out other apps from using basic recording features like 60fps and making no mention of it. 3rd party apps also exist to provide additional tweaks and features that the stock one lacks and I was disappointed to find Filmic Pro and Open Camera can't access 60fps and has trouble with the shutter speed to stop the zebra stripes/banding in some lighting scenarios.
Have you tried porting Google camera? I just downloaded a modded port and can record at 4k 60fps. Looks Pretty good also.

Hey any chance of a link to the one you are using?
I have tried a few different apks and the only one that would actually install (or open) is the Camera PX v.8.1.008.341125824.
It suffers from zebra striping indoors and outdoors, pressing on "slo-mo" force closes the app, captures of both pics and video are fairly noisy or grainy, 4k mode force closes as soon as I switch the option and it doesn't have an option I can see to choose framerate.
Definitely would like to try a fully working one.

I used this one, although a bit of searching around and I found a couple of others I will try as well.
Greatness GCam APKs - Google Camera Port
Modified Google Camera app By Greatness.

Here you can enable bottons for the different lenses. Be aware to use the alternative fix as the app crashes otherwise.
I didn't figure out how to use the stream configs though

No, unfortunately not. Only 1x and 2x. But the rest works normal.
Hello,
I have a question, i just bought a Find x5 model and i love it a lot. One thing that bothers me though is the fact that the camera does not save my setting. When i open the camera app and disable the HDR mode it does not save the setting. When i open the camera app again i 30 minutes the HDR is on again. I'm wondering if it's only me or do you guys also experiance the same thing?
