Edge panel - missing panels - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Where did the (shortcuts) apps edge panel go? I have only 5 panels (tools, reminder, weather)...but no apps panel. I wanted to put some of the apps in there for fast access...but since Pie ...i can't.find them anymore!

It's still there for me. Running N960USQU1CSAA, clean install. I don't think they would've removed from the N960F builds.
Make sure your Galaxy Apps are updated.

Not for me... only these 4 and 2 more. Furthermore, i saw some tutorial on YouTube...where a dude had an extra button down next to the settings button... Which when pressed another panel came from button and it had 4 shortcuts....i dont have that button eitherView attachment 4709929

Not sure what to tell you. Maybe look in the Galaxy Store?

I can see my note 9 has that extra button and it has apps edge too where shortcuts are. I'm using android pie on mine with OneUI. Also mine is Exynos Europe version

Possible to add apps to pie controls?

Title says it all really. Is it possible to add apps to pie controls? I've seen pictures, but can't find out how from anywhere.

hi lazy guy...the i-net is full of howto´s. if you use lmt, then go to lmt, on the top hit pie. than i.e. push pie item 1 - than select app and choose your app. that´s it.

Ah, not using lmt. Using StuNNer 2 rom. I would have posted there, but I'm not allowed.

Yup, that's the rom. Really like it, would love if I could add a few apps to the pie though. Know if it's poss? Where's the data for pie held?

So I have to use that. That's all I wanted to know, just thought it would be more efficient to use the one that was already there if possible.
Whats the big deal with the pie control? Its almost useless , you can use your button to navigate, sliding on the edge of the screen and using it almost same with the existing physical button is making your life too complicated

Hard to reach back button one handed on Note for me at least, so I find it very nice to use.

What about phones which do not have physical buttons?

Stock Camera.

What can I do to speed up the camera launch speed. It takes around 5 seconds to launch which is terrible. And please don't suggest I use a 3rd party app.

Sad to say but theres nothing you can do to fix that,,,,
But there is another way to capture photos fast by just clicking the volume down button even if the acree is turned off. , goto the android development section and look for the tiopic called, ( camera mod fast capture enable)
sent from my white xperia z
Or just try to update last firmware. There this problem is solved.

There is currently no fix for this issue, but I'm sure future updates will fix it.
BUT: There is a mod in the mod section that allows you to quickly capture images with volume up

I'm not running the latest firmware and and I'm not sure if the mod will work. A lot if people are reporting the camera app disappearing and that's a risk I'm not willing to take. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Wait for the update.
Camera opens almost instantly from lockscreen now.

Just prompted an update now. Hopefully that's the one.
Can I update with a custom recovery using pc companion? I'm also rooted.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2
Update: received an update and the camera is much faster at launching now. Not the fastest but definitely an improvement.
However, I lost root and my custom recovery. Oh well. The sacrifice was worth it.

5secs? Damn.. Mine takes 2 secs and to me that's fine
Thank god for the update. It takes around 2 seconds now as well. And it even fixed my notification LED issue. It now works with no problems

If you use a launcher like Nova you could use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40084488. It gives a bit faster startup, but only in Superior auto.

The update seemed to have improved the camera boot up speed. But thanks for the tip.
I've also realised that the update made my navigation and status bar black by default. =D

Pull down in full screen apps

On my note 2 (romed don't remember about stock) I could bring the pull down at anytime even in 3d full screen apps. I noticed this is not possible with my one. Aside from installing status bar app, is this a known limitation? It's bugging the crap out of me. Thanks.

I'm able to pull down my notification screen while in apps. What ROM are you running?

I wouldn't call it a limitation... It just doesn't do it.. So yeah in a way I guess limitation is about right.

I am running Renovate latest build. I have the same "issue" on Viperboy's rom. I can do it in apps just not full screen ones.

Yeah, some apps allow you to enable the notification bar while others do not in full screen. It would be nice to be able to do it though.
This is actually a FEATURE of Samsung apps. Literally the one and only thing I miss from my s3, I used it so much I considered not getting the One just for that reason.

Smart status bar in the play store brings the notification bar back by pulling down the top edge of the screen.

Note 8 stock gallery photo effects

Just noticed when I try to use effects like Vignette, stardust etc in the gallery app that there is no adjustment bar for the effects intensity. I'm sure in previous models they were present.
Just wondering , did I overlook something?

Can't highlight buttons like mouse on websites anymore !

The hand icon doesn't appear on websites while browsing and doesn't trigger drop down menu !! It works fine on my Note 8 running Pie but not Note 9
If anyone can let me know if it works with them before i factory reset it would be highly appreciated
Update:
Here is a video showing what I mean. Kindly note that all this happen without touching the screen only hovering the S-Pen. This doesn't happen on my Note 9! All I can do is scroll while hovering and no buttons will be triggered.

Although the video is unavailable, I now understand that you've a problem with S-Pen.
Is Air View turned on in S-Pen settings?
