DeX and One UI - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

Hi boys,
Looking for help, ever since the upgrade to pie, DeX loads, but after a short time, between 30 seconds and 7 minutes, the screen has multicolored pixels, turns black and displays the notice No Signal.
I've tried putting it in DND mode, switching off location, WiFi, anything that might interfere, same result.
On the phone, still connected to the DeX station, switch to screen mirroring, that shows up, then back to DeX, same thing, loses signal after a short while.
Did a factory reset, but loaded everything back from Smartswitch. Same problem.
Factory reset again, loaded Nordvpn, Google calendar & keep along with WhatsApp Plus. Everything else from the rom. I've reinstalled my phone and message data. Same problem.
Changed the HDMI cable, same problem.
Changed the power supply to Note Pro 12.2 charger. Same problem.
DeX station is OEM Samsung, been using it on Oreo for the past 8 months without a problem.
Any solutions? Am I missing a trick here? Any help is gratefully accepted.

Do you have a Samsung store in your area? Try it with their Dex pad and see if it's working... It feels like it could be a bad cable

Same as my note 8 time use pie beta dex is problem, and now i am upgrade pie stable and then dex working is perfectly

Hi All,
After clearing the cache, DeX is now working fine.
Thanks for the suggestions

VR Controller Connection Issue

I received the New Gear VR and Controller and attempted set up on my S8+. Everything went smooth until pairing the Controller. Inside the Oculus app The pairing instructions are displayed, and it flashed a toast message that it connected to the controller. However, from there nothing else will work. Checks for firmware updates for 5+ mins, and randomly will say there's an update available. I attempt the update, and it just sits at downloading 0%, then a toast will pop up that the controller disconnected. So I skipped the firmware update and moved straight to the calibration. Step 1 with the figure 8's generally work fine. Step 2, set it flat displays a green check, and then again the toast that the controller has disconnected. Then another toast message of Unable to connect to the controller. I've swapped the batteries, still the same issues. I was wondering if there was a way to default/reset the controller, and start the pairing process again. I've tried, removing it from paired Bluetooth settings, clearing the cache of the Oculus app, etc. However it seems to instantly re-pair as soon as I put the batteries in the remote, and I'm in the same cycle of connections and disconnections. I've been able to use the Gear VR and everything ELSE is working, but as it the remote is not staying connected long enough to update, calibrate, or use. Any ideas? Thanks!
i have the same. tried uninstalling several times already to no avail.
I was having the same problem. What worked for me was to unpair the controller and pair it again over BT. But don't do it from within Oculus app, because it will not solve your problem. Do it from your phone Bluetooth settings instead.
If you restart your phone the issue may return. If it happens, just unpair and pair it again (always from your phone BT settings...) and you will be good again.

Had the same problem. What solved it for me was to go back to the default theme. I've ran into occasional problems where it turns out to be my theme. You can go back to whatever theme you use after getting the controller to work. Of course, disregard if you're not using a theme.
Thank you Ramer! That solution was the answer to my problem!! Awesome!!
Had a similar problem. Ended up being the batteries after 2 weeks of first use. Just posting in case someone hasnt tried that

Android Auto latest release (5.5.602944-release)

I just got into my car (2018 Ford Fusion with Sync 3) and connected my phone. When I pushed the infotainment "Android Auto" button, the screen went to black and stayed there. I then looked at my phone and saw that the phone was trying to launch AA (in my status bar, I saw the Android Auto icon), then the icon would disappear, and then the phone would try again. This continued repeatedly.
When I got back to my computer, I looked at google play store and saw there was an update yesterday (6AUG).
In the car, I also tried clearing out the data/cache for Android Auto and then reconnecting, but it continued to exhibit this behavior.
I'm wondering if others have noticed this issue.
For the record, I have a Pixel 3xl on the July Security patch.
Edit: I installed August Security Update and all seems to be well now. Strange.
Cheers,
B.D.
I am having the same issue. I have a Oneplus 7 pro and my car is a 2018 VW Golf GTI. When I plug it in to the USB, the head unit just goes black. When you touch the screen you can hear clicks, however then the screen cuts back out "No Communication". I've tried turning USB Debugging On/Off. I've uninstalled android auto, reinstalled..cleared cache, cleared data. I've also cleared cache on Google play services. I've tried older versions of Android Auto and different cables same issue. Any recommendations? I'm guessing it a Google Play Services update causing it.
change your cable.... android auto is terribly picky on the cable.
The only cable working with my oneplus 8 is the stock cable...

Well I've done some more trouble shooting...still haven't solved it, but still... I have tried 5 different cables to no success. 2 other "official" OnePlus cable, a high end cable and another standard cable. So we can eliminate that. I tried an Old Nexus 6 I have around and "bingo" that does work with the cable I've been using my and shows up with Android auto. So I know know it's the OnePlus 7. And after uninstalling and reinstalling android auto, clearing cache to no success. I'm thinking of only two options left
..Either wait for Google to provide an update or wipe and reset my phone which is a HUGE headache...

I was in Beta, and left it...it still doesn't work, unless there is a easier way to roll back to an earlier version of play services.
Play Services Version

I ended up wiping my phone and putting paranoid android quartz 4 as a custom rom.
Android Auto works fine now.

Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G and Uconnect

I'm not sure if this has to do with recent updates to Android Auto or if it's specific to the make and model of my device (I got the new phone around the same time as the latest AA updates were released), but I'm now experiencing endless frustrations with constant connection failures between my phone and my Jeep's Uconnect 8.4 head unit again. I went through a similar thing, as did many others, around this time last year and the year before. It's infuriating.
Most of the time, when I plug my phone into the vehicle's USB port, the Android auto icon appears on the display of the head unit for a moment or two and then disappears. There's a notification in the shade on my phone that says something like "Connecting to Android Auto" or "Starting Android Auto." But then it never really starts.
Occasionally I try clearing the data, storage and cache from the Android Auto app and sometimes Google Play Services. Sometimes I'll also have to go into the Uconnect settings menu and tell my head unit to "Forget device." Every so often, as long as I then turn off the ignition and then restart the vehicle and then reboot my phone, this will bring me back to the Android auto setup screen and I'll be able to use Android auto for a single drive cycle. as soon as I cut the engine and unplug my phone, it's over. When I get back into the vehicle I'm back where I started: with the head unit seemingly able to recognize that an Android Auto device is connected for a moment and then Android Auto just quits out.
It's insane. Seems like Google can't just get this right. As soon as they release a build that works, they follow up with an update that completely breaks functionality.
Anyone else have a similar experience and, hopefully, have suggestions and how to resolve this nonsense?
Used my iPhone with my 2018 Challenger for a year and it worked perfectly. Switched to a Note 20 Ultra last month and it worked for about 2 weeks. Same issue you're experiencing. I'm going back to iPhone.

Question T-Moble S21 ultra Bluetooth controls not working.

After the last 2 updates, the Bluetooth controls have stopped working. Any ideas?
*edit- Should add you can connect, pair, play, and cast like normal but..
No blue tooth device will respond to skip or back for audio control, respond to volume control from phone. Also YouTube through Chromecast will not control volume.
Oddly YouTube through Chromecast will control volume with the app directly open. Same thing with Netflix.
These all worked find 3 OS ago.
I have picked through settings and nothing is amiss.
Right now this phone is about as usefull as a phone, Not $1,100 smart device.
Any idea on how to correct this?
Im guessing rolling back wont work since it has knox and will be locked by boot-loader. Do not want to factory reset phone. Just wish i could control volume and skip songs and what not with media bluetooth controls like it use to and how it always worked.
Now in most cases the app is open on the screen, you can control the volume. But you can still not skip songs and do basic play-pause commands from a bluetooth device.
Right now I primarily use Subsonic, YouTube, Netflix and all are broken for remote control.
Basic Tech of phone:
Model Number SM-G998U
Android 12
Carrier T-Mobile "Works every where you are not"
Base band Version: G998USQU4BUKF
Clear system cache and network reset.
Check the bootloader version, it may be possible to do a roll back.
Otherwise factory reset if you upgraded to 12.
Now you know why I don't upgrade or update if the OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission.
have you tried to unpair the bt device and pair them again?
or try it in safe mode as well
submit an error report if it continues to fail
Galaxy Wearable app > Go to menu (top left 3 lines) > Contact us>> Error reports
I am having this same issue. Re-pairing does not fix the issue. I am able to pause, but then can never un-pause. It's weird, because my phone show the resume, but it never actually resumes. Skip and rev also broken.
Updates break things...
Maybe installing/reinstalling the effected apps might get it.
A factory reset -might- fix it, but unless you can find/correct the root cause* it's the only option left with that current OS if you can't roll the update back.
*if a user hidden option has been altered a factory reset may be the only conventional way to reset it
Unfortunately tmoble with the phone only lets me dismiss the updates a few times then it just shoe horns you into it.
Was an epic day at work, so just now checking back.
I did try to unpair and repair with one of my bluetooth speakers, but it only allows for volume control, which I was able to control with the phone again. Tomorrow I plan on trying it with my other things to see.
I have tried to clear phones system cache and youtube app cache, but still did not fix volume control with it.
If you have the phone unlocked and the app open, you can control it. Otherwise it will just try to control the system media volume. I have not yet been able to find a way to get it stop switching to system media when connected to chrome.

Same for me on the phone shows the controls. I am avoiding every thing I can to factory reset the thing.

Try Galaxy Sound Assistant, probably won't help but it's better volume control is a must have.
Try playing with the bt options in Developer options.
You can use a package disabler or an adb edit to block all OTA updates. It's how I keep my OS firmware where I want it.
Here is the update that I had to do to fix it. I now have chromcast volume control with out screen unlocked and youtube open and full control with and from my bluetooth devices. Also the battery longevity seems to be back!
After backing every thing up on local computer...
Factory resting did nothing to fix the issues. A bunch of other tricks also did nothing to fix the issue. It appears the issues are part of Android 12 and the UI4.0 I do not know if this a Tmoble specific issue or what..
So blanking it out, using odin to flash back to the last version of 11 and factory reset after that has resolved all my issues.
This guys video had a good walk through with working links so you can find the right files for your specific needs.
So using this firmware for my specific tmoble variant.;
Download Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra SM-G998U TMB USA (T-Mobile) G998USQS4AUIR firmware
Fast download latest Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra firmware SM-G998U from USA (T-Mobile) with G998USQS4AUIR and Android version 11
www.sammobile.com
Then Odin, flash it back in bootloader by pressing up and down volume then inserting the USB cord from a computer.
After that fun and restoring the phone from google, used developer mode to disable auto updates so Tmoble does not wreck my phones functionality.
And a side note, I am rather butthurt from having to loose all my customizations and redo them all from the requred factory resets. But hey at least I have the functionality back of 1,100 dollar phone like it should be.

Rule #1, if the OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission, let it be.

Waze / Android Auto freezes regularly

Hello everyone.
I was using UleFone Power 3 (Android 7.1.1) with my RCD330+ without any problems (on VW Golf Mk6 2011 year).
However, phone became old and started developing issues, so I was forced to buy new one.
A few weeks ago I purchased Realme GT Master Edition which runs Android 11.
However, now I am having problems since day one with the phone and RCD330+.
When using Waze, the display on RCD completely freezes for 30-40 seconds every 3-5 minutes. You can pass a few intersections with Waze still showing you frozen far behind. Everything is frozen - map, speed display, etc.
After ~30-40 seconds, it unfreezes and is displayed all fine again for next 3-5 minutes where it freezes again and all repeats.
Could anyone please help me toubleshoot where the problem is?
Only the phone has changed, no configuration changes were done in RCD330+, USB cable also remained the same.
RCD330+ firmware version 5614
Android Auto version 7.6.621703-release
Waze release 4.82.5.1
Another question - what's the best tool to use to switch off Bluetooth after device is being disconnected from USB?
Thank you
I'm having the same problem and I managed to reduce a little bit the freezing. And don't know if it'd work for you.
Enable developers options and go almost to the bottom, under applications there's an option called "Limite de procesos en segundo plano" which might be something like "Limit backgroud processes" and set it to MAX 4 instead of Standard.
It helped quite a bit. Please let me know if you find something else.
