Any S10 battery life (SOT) stats yet? - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Looked around the internet and all I could see is S10+ (4100mAh) battery life review.
Anyone with S10 (3100mAh) able to share your SOT battery life screenshots? :highfive:

We need a one week for the accurate stat. I will have 4.5-5h looks like

3.5 on my S10e exynos... This is bad

4,5h SOT / s10 before i use s9+ time is that same but i also has mate20pro over 3 month and mate20pro and this phone keep battery over 2 full day and im charging battery on 3rd day morning for 30 min to full

Battery currently at 23%. Wifi/4G and bluetooth always on.

About 3.5/4 hrs SOT on my S10e. Coming from a P20 Pro with 8-10hrs SOT (with just a 900mAh larger battery), this is really, really bad

My s10+ exynos
avg. 8.40hr sot

I am getting over 5 hours. Phone off the charger at 5:30am. Go all day. GPS. Music. Messages. Email. Little social media. Plugging back in at 10:00pm with 20% left.

Turn on adaptive battery in settings. Big difference. Remove Facebook app and use browser instead with a shortcut to home screen so it feels like an app.
Sorted.

I agree, i come from a Motorola Z2 Force and the S10e with exynos i get 3.5hrs SoT max. Im reading everywhere complains about the performance, battery and signal on the Exynos variant. I´m regreting in getting this phone. too bad in Mexico, they don´t have option to take it back. So im selling this phone.

S10 (Exynos) - SOT
I got 6hours & 10min of SOT on my Galaxy S10 (Exynos)

7 hours exynos UK soft Xeu

Anywhere between 5.5 & 6.5 SOT for me depending on usage.
S10 SD855 US unlocked version.
My Exynos S10 version is very similar.

Hey guys. i have the S10 Snapdragon. and my avg SOT is only 4-4.5hrs with 4g on during the day. the battery comes down quite quickly than i thought.. i thought it would be better than the exynos. but not really. my settings are- AOD off-only turns on when receive notifications through the AOD app. and also have the good locker to change animations. are these hogging battery? apart from these all regular usage. how are u getting 6-7 hrs??

3 hrs on s 10 exynos variant, very disappointed, feels like I got issues with my battery...
Using night mode ,aod off, 30 mins gaming, max 2 hrs video ...
Anyone with the same??

¡Awesome Battery Life!

Just recieve mine yesterday. More than 10h SoT in a single charge. ¡Insane!
For some reason all the real consumers are having great battery life but it is not reflected in benchmarks tests done by the "reviewers".
Can you compare your battery life with similar usage on the phone you used previously ?

Well only reliable review so far has come from gsmarena.. all other tests are amateur/random tests, but gsmarena has a history/experience and most importantly reliable test pattern judging from my own experience.
Phones which score in between 80-90h in gsmarena battery test (https://www.gsmarena.com/battery-test.php3) are top tier 1 phone in terms of battery performance in real life based on my experience. I change phones almost as often as socks , so my statement is valid.
From my personal experience and usage pattern phones, which score in between 80-90h in gsmarena battery test, have SOT of at least ~5 hours in the heaviest of usage and up to ~8 hours of SOT in more relaxed scenarios. Like for instance OP5 constantly gives ~5 hours of SOT, but when you have long youtube usages together with heavy usage you reach the mentioned ~8hours of SOT.
My usage pattern -> Mostly whatsapp, youtube, chrome, some Spotify and Waze with BT, Location, SYNC always ON.
True the battery life is among the very top league in any case where there are only few top range phones (mid-range phones are not a fair comparison).
That said the we have yet to get an explanation as to why the bigger 4000mAh size battery advantage is not reflected into battery life advantage against other competitors despite Huawei promoting it big that they have a 4000mAh against their competitors. Also why the promised 30% better battery life than Mate 9 is not showing yet. I am eager to read the Anandtech review which is the best in breaking down the details when it comes to explaining all this but on the other hand im hoping they wait 1-2 months for more stable rom before doing their tests.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/battery-life-thread-t3695518
I only use 'daily use' to check the battery life.
I try my best to use it as a normal person and after that i use it how i use it (heavy).
I'm not a fan of benchmark and software to test smartphones, it doesn't always give you the right answer...
Didn't the moto z play get a bad battery review from a benchmarking review site? I used that phone heavy for almost 2 days on a single charge. it was insane!
Even though gsmarena review of Mate 10 pro is not out but they have updated their specs and the battery test score is listed now. Mate 10 pro gets a 96h, making it an undoubted beast in battery life. So if all true, then the FHD+ oled combination did help over the Mate 10 standard. And also for comparison, the smaller 5.5 inch display Mate 9 pro which was QHD had a 87h score.

I had the Mate 8 9 and 10. Have to be honest, the battery on the 9 sucked but the 10 is amazing. I was initially reserved but just the other day i was down to 25% by end of day and i have about 4.5 hours SOT. This was a first for me and i did not do any tweaking. Ive never had a phone go past 3 hours SOT and i have cycled through a ton of phones. So if you're an out of the box guy with only a few simple tweaks like wifi, bluetooth and gps off, this phone is going to be a dream. I left the screen at 2k mind you.
So can we all agree if the Mate 10 gets an average of 5hrs + of SOT then this is what is expected of a 4000mAh battery?
Is SOT the best measure for battery life or is standby/usage hours (eg: 16-18 hours use) the better measure?
I get mixed SOT between 5 - 7 hours max.
My usage is around 17 - 18 hours max.
I would say I am a heavy user.

just learn to ignore that its always been like that (user posting crazy,in-explainable SOT times), even with phones which have the ****-yest of battery life out-there.
I look at this the following way - if my phone has +5.5" screen I am more than happy if I get ~5-7hours of SOT during heavy usage

Even if that were to be true, I don't care as long as I hit ~6-7hours of SOT with my usage pattern.
Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to challenge/refute your statement or the result you can reach. See, usage patterns vary from person to person, therefore I tend to reserve my judgement whether this or that phone is bad in terms of battery life before I actually use it. The only source I do trust judging from my own experience is gsmarena battery test -> any phone that has gsmarena endurance rating in between 80-100hours will be great SOT/battery life performance wise for me. Phones in that endurance rating range have always been great in terms of SOT considering my usage pattern and I consider great any phone that can do ~6hours of SOT on a 5.5"+ screen . That's about it.
p.s. one great example of SOT results was my experience with OP5. With regular daily heavy usage I was getting ~6h of SOT on single charge, but when I mixed in super long hours of youtube that same cycle would be give 10h of SOT, but it would be rather misleading to claim that OP5 is a 10h SOT phone, since its simply better @videoplayback in terms of battery consumption.. usage patterns differ from person to person and the results vary a lot depending on what the particular device is better at..

Seems weird, but I could be on 1 of the 2 things: display efficiency or resolution.
Resolution, strangely, didn't affect other phones that much.
But this can be testes with EMUI by lowering it to FHD, according to other members here.
I can't verify this, but when I buy this phone, if it's possible, I'll definitively lower the resolution. (I can't notice the difference)
The non pro is still almost no where to be found in Europe, right?

Post your battery life

I'll update the OP once I got my first battery stats.

(Copied from another thread) S9 Exynos here.
Second full day (after a half day when I got it) and it's been pretty horrible. I expected it to be average or not great for the first couple days, but this is nuts.
I've got everything on - location, sync, AOD, Bixby, etc - and am losing about 5% per hour with the screen off. Ending the day on 15% with only an hour or two of SOT.
Will be keeping a spreadsheet log of it, including what services are on and how I've used it, so will report back. Hope it improves naturally with everything on though. Reception is also surprisingly average; in the bathroom at work my Pixel 1 had decent enough reception to load videos, but my S9 seems to struggle to even load images. Pixel 1 had 3G in an underground pub, but my S9 couldn't get any data at all.
First full day (Snapdragon)
Haven't actually charged to 100% (except the first charge) and recorded stats. I'll have to do that and see.
But the first night after setting up my phone, during 8 hours of non-use, my battery level only dropped 4%. The next night, with AOD on, it dropped only 11% during 8 hours. Pretty happy with standby battery performance.

My only suggestion is to make sure you have the display auto-adjust and to make sure nothing is running explicitly in the background all day.
Turn off Wi-fi, Bluetooth, NFC when you aren't using them.
2days turn on time with 5hrs SoT!!
Awesome.
You guys are posting some pretty decent numbers, considering all the negative coverage. 6hrs of SOT is pretty respectable and with my usage patterns it will last more than a day
Exynos S9
Used for 1 week
Disabled Bixby, Facebook
WQHD
Power saving mode off
AOD off
Max SOT 3.5 hours
3 times factory reset still no luck
Should I send my phone back to SAMSUNG for replacement?

It's a card game, but it has some 3d elements and animations. It drains the battery 1-2%/5 minutes I think.
However, let me tell you this: I've been using Xiaomi Mi3 before (Snapdragon 800 and also 3000mAh battery) and Mi A2 lasts waaaay longer, so I assume some reviewers just look at the numbers and say the battery is weak
I'm in holiday in Bali and have been in 4G since arrival. I use the maps and Spotify for most of the day, play some light games and still have battery life to spare when we get back to the hotel at night.
The phone has great battery for me, but this is all opinions and your milage may vary. Not every has the same requirements for what great battery life is.
Not a good buy to battery life , only 4 sot to me .
I am switching from galaxy s8+. I am using galaxy with full qhd+ resolution almost full brightness.
Will Mi A2 battery work same as s8+?

in 2018 getting 4Hrs sot is not acceptable from Xiaomi
For as long as people will care about looks then manufacturers will keep making super thin profile phones. If they made them a few mm bigger then could fit a bigger battery.
It's all about deciding what you value the most as you can't have everything your heart desires in one device. Just doesn't make business sense for a company to give you the best of everything at one time.

How much SOT do you get on a S9+? Its around 3-5h. How many times more does it cost? So 4-8h on a 250€ device is fine in my opinion.

I get 6-7 hours before battery reaches to 10 %. Mostly browsing, no games, wifi and 4G mixed.
I come from a s8+ with 5-6 SOT and with the xiaomi I have 5+ SOT, almost the same. Not bad for the price i think
I think 6-7 SOT is possible, depending on what you're doing. If you game a lot or watch loads of movies, then you're really stretching it though. I only got my phone last week, so I haven't tested it that much yet, but so far I can easily get through the day on one full charge.
But I don't play games or watch a lot of YouTube or movies on it. Mainly browsing, emailing, texting, phoning, podcasting, Spotify, a bit of Reddit, etc.
On the plus side, it charges really, really fast, but that's useless if you can't plug it in during the day. Besides that, the Snapdragon 660 is supposed to be more energy efficient than its predecessors. But if battery life is the main issue for you, then you might wanna reconsider buying this phone.
I would have preferred a (slightly) thicker Mi A2 with a larger battery though. 3000mAh really is the bare minimum these days. The phone is great, but it would have been awesome with a bigger battery.
Also, bear in mind, Android One takes up 13Gb of the storage size.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
For my Snapdragon N20U (yes in Korea we finally get the Snapdragon version!), I'm getting quite horrible battery life, whether it's SOT or heavy usage, or background drain. Now I know that with Samsung phones you need at least 1 week for the phone to learn your habbits and make adjustments, however the difference in SOT and standby drain between my N20U and P30 Pro is too large, even considering the lack of usage learning.
For example, if I use my P30 Pro for an hour to take pictures, browse the web, and listen to some music through bluetooth, it will use around 5%. With my N20U, I'll leave the house with 100%, NOT use the phone at all, have a quick 30 minute lunch, and look at the phone and it will also have lost 5%. SOT is at least for me pretty bad also. Yesterday I left the house at 6:30pm, took some pics (around 20-30), did some light browsing, and when I got back home at around 10pm, my phone was at 25%. I slept at 3am, then woke up at 9:30am, and my phone was at 14%. So yeah... it seems to not be that good
I've seen random concerns about this on youtube. Thank you for sharing. Please continue to update us with more data.
My review unit averages around 4-4.5 hrs screen on time with 13-16hrs average total standby time.

Hi,
Note 20 Ultra Exynos version 512Go and 2h30 of SoT on Youtube/wifi, 1h web browsing, 120Hz adaptative and 75% left.
It's seem to be good.
I am not able to understand the Exynos battery life. Some ppl are getting decent SOT and for others, its just terrible. Even many of the reviews which I have watched are similar. Really getting confused here and unable to make a decision.
Have anyone test benchmark on Ultra Note 20 RAM8GB Exynos990?

That also shows you put it on the charger twice to achieve almost 9 hours of screen on time.
It no longer breaks down screen time like it used to. In past Android versions, it would show SOT since last charge. Now it shows TOTAL SOT for the whole day.
I could technically leave it on the charger and play with it all day, and it would show 24 hours SOT.
---------- Post added at 10:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:36 AM ----------
My battery life so far has been pretty bad. For example, it's been off the charger for two hours and I'm down to 75%. Now I've been using it fairly heavily since then with about 90 minutes of screen on time.
But with my Note 10+, I'd still have about 85% battery after using it for an hour and a half. I'm also experiencing stand by drain real bad.
This was after a fresh clean install. Nothing was restored or transferred over.
I can only assume it's the 5G (although my standby drain was while on WiFi), or the 120Hz refresh rate (which also doesn't explain the standby drain).
I'll let it settle for a few more days, then I may start fresh again with a factory reset.

wow I haven't seen anyone claim this much SOT for any version before.
Cant just read screen on time on battery setting.. its not screen on time since last unplugged/charged full
Now it displays screen on time for the whole day, even if u charged during the day.
Use gsam/accubattery
Just done a rolling video test with the Note 8 and Note 20 ultra. Both on full brightness playing the same set of files.
The Note 8 display is brighter and more colourful. After 3 hours or so the Note 20 ultra has 82% left and the Note 8 has 76%
If you look at the difference in battery capacity (4500 vs 3300) and the difference in screen size then I would say the Note 8 performs better even with the brighter display.
4th day in Exynos. Phone has been on for 3 hours, 45 mins SOT consisting of browsing socials, no apps running in background 75% battery remaining ? This is terrible, can't see it getting better....
Note 20 Ultra with Exynos.
Terrible Battery life in 5 days.
I have it for 5 days and it has not reached the end of the day in any case.
100% at 8:30 am and 5% at 7:00 pm.
Without playing, just text on Telegram, browsing with Chrome and 30-40 minutes on YouTube.
Little more than 3 hours of screen.
I have removed Bixby, 3 widgets, I have disabled the mobile line that I had in the esim (I have only left the microsim). I have disabled 5G and left only until 4G.
And I have gotten a little more battery, but it does not reach almost 4 hours of screen.
I repeat. Without playing games, without taking photos, without taking videos.
Very disappointing.
And let's not talk about paying the same price as in other countries with SnapDragon for its Exynos, which is more than proven to be a much worse processor.
In their own country (South Korea) they use SnapDragon. That is, they do not offer their own processor to their own country. That is how little confidence they have in Exynos. Of course, the rest of the world (not counting the United States) endorse us what they do not want even in their own country.

Question How is your batterylife?

I know it depends how you using it and so on. But generally?
I think mine is worse then pixel 4 xl. Have only charged it like 4 times but still. Using some Instagram, Facebook, Spotify, news , youtube.
Mostly wifi and feels like battery is dropping really fast.
I'm getting 7-8 hours SoT when battery hitting around 25-30% left. Here's my thread from my first findings.
Battery life?
So I'm coming from a 3 XL, and I even got the battery replaced April 2021, and I was getting about four hours SoT. My 7 in only two days is blowing my mind. Yesterday I had five hours SoT, and today after a full charge, It went from 100% to 99%...

Today's usage.
its about the same as pixel 6 for me maybe a little less from daily usage...but smoother for sure and the phone is a little bit smaller which is always a plus
My battery sucks ATM. Only had like 3 full charges so might settle and getting better , hopefully
Another quick update. Haven't used the phone that much yesterday or today yet, and I'm happy with standby time. Over 34 hours off the charger with over 4 hours SoT, and still has over 40% battery.

LOL what do you want? 20 hours SoT? Maybe because I'm coming from a 3 XL with a 3430 battery that after 4 hours of SoT, and only being off the charger for 12 hours, not well over 30, my battery would be at 10%, not 40%, but to me this is freaking awesome battery life.

Mine is honestly making me regret buying the phone. Too late, sent my trade in yesterday.
I previously had the Pixel 5a and got around 9.5 hours of screen on time over 24 hours. I think most days I could go about 30 hours before running empty.
My P7 gets around 6 hours of screen time over about 18 hours.
So a battery that's 7% smaller is seeing battery life more than 30% worse.
I'm not very happy with the battery life as you can tell, and I just hope a software update can improve things.

Other than the battery life the phone is fantastic haha. It's not unmanageable, I do keep good high-watt chargers in most places like home, work, car, etc. But sometimes I go do something all day and I'm not near a charger. Guess I'll just get used to using battery saver mode in those situations.
I do enjoy the phone, but the battery giving me anxiety is not very fun.

Yeah. I guess. Working 10 hrs makes me nervous about battery life. Lol.
dont reference your SOT, reference it to your previous phone, everone usage SOT is different, one person maybe have 5 hours SOT but on the camera for 70% one person may have 10 hours but only use it for texting or internet.
What ways have you guys found to extend battery life during normal use? Without having to severely reduce the functionality of the phone, ie 5g or reducing screen brightness a ton. I feel like a modern phone a lot of the point is the screen and 5g so those I wouldn't want to sacrifice
Are there settings or other apps that can help? I'm fairly new to Android and so far I've been a bit disappointed with the battery life of the P7.

What kind of battery life are you getting? I only play around on mine (Instagram, Pinterest, SnapChat, and some Candy Crush games), and my main drain is Clash Royale, and I get around 7-8 hour SoT with 20% remaining. I switched 5G off, and only use LTE because 5G (at least in my area) is bad.
Man, y'all must've been spoiled with like 10+ hours of SOT with your old phones... I get around 6-8 with 30 hrs total which I think is pretty dang good. But like someone else said SOT will be much different from person to person based on device usage. I watched a 2hr downloaded movie from Netflix with airplane mode on and it only dropped 12%. And with adaptive charging, I just charge it all night which it will charge, slowly, till full until my alarm goes off.

Exactly. My experience is the opposite though. I came from a 3 XL, and by the time I switched from it to the 7 my battery capacity was down to around 2800. My 7 is like a God send for me. 7-8 hours SoT with the same use as my 3 XL, and I still have 30% left, when my 3 XL would be down to 2%. I couldn't be happier.
I came from the OnePlus9 and all around the OnePlus9 is a better device.
Google has a great UI experience, but these Tensor2 chips do not compete in performance or efficiency with the Snapdragon 888s or higher.
Theyre missing a lot of the refinement that Qualcomm has done with the hardware and it shows.
For those coming from a Pixel 3-5 series, yes this is a big upgrade, and many got great trade-in deals which is what made me give this phone a shot. It does not however live up to it's MSRP. Im hoping Google is able to refine things to greatly improve efficiency on these devices.
