How to get february update? - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

Hey I'm on Linageos 16 (which is no longer supported)
And I didn't receive any February security patch (or January for that matter) so I'm thinking about removing the rom, getting the patch then flashing Havoc rom
But I'm not always up to the date with the android world (only when I'm about to do a change)So my question is how do I do this safely?
Do I just do a full system backup on titan restore (or apps only?) Wipe my device... set it up on stock os to install the patch then install Havoc Rom then restore titan backup?
If there's any important steps I'm missing or if you recommend another way It would be extremely helpful.
Thanks!

Rooted Stock Major OS Upgrade

The Nexus 6 was my first Nexus. Since I am unlocked, rooted, stock I have been using the factory images to update throughout the life cycle of lollipop. Flashing all but User Data. I have never updated through a major OS revision before.
With 6.0 possibly being released today, would it be ok to dirty flash from the latest 5.1.1 to 6.0?
Probably, though a rooted user should take a nandroid backup and titanium app / data backup too in case a wipe is needed. A Wipe is always best when upgrading a major OS version
Thanks, I do have a nandroid backup and Titanium app/data just in case a full wipe was needed. Just was curious if I should even attempt a dirty flash.
So I am guessing there is different code in an OTA as opposed to the Factory Images to safely migrate settings?
An OTA doesn't do anything special to "migrate data" at all, if you look at the scripts.... and it's for this reason that if I received an OTA ever, I would wipe (Though I've never taken an OTA in 5+ years)...
You can attempt it, yes. I Believe you can flash the preview 3 without wipe
Hi, dirty flash (manually fastboot flash.... everything except user data) worked fine for me, from LMY48M to MRA58K.

Issues with android security patch level

Hello everyone.
I`ve got rooted Nexus 6 with Franco kernel. From time to time it shows system security updates, which I install`s. But I notices on my android security patch level stops on January 2016 and still want to install February updates. Everytime N6 tries to install February updates. Does anybody know whats going on? Maybe it`s because I locked with security password on my twrp? After rebooting twrp show`s and I really dont know are updates installed well. I quess not. Can someone help?
And another question, does this android security updates will remove my root?

Security updates will not work; unless the device is completely stock.
You should look at installing the OTA from this page - instructions are provided. If you want to retain the kernel,TWRP & and root you'll have to re-flash them when you're finished.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/ota
If you're unencrypted (I'm not - I prefer the security to an extra 10 minutes of battery life) do some reading first - I'm not sure how the OTA works with an unencrypted device. Maybe other members can advise both of us on this point.
Thx for answer`s.
Correct me if I wrong, but I`ve got stock rom, but with Franco kernel, and root, but it`s still stock, right? Does this could be a reason? All my data are encrypted, so maybe this could be a reason ( however after every update reboot I decrypt`s my data), I`ll switch off encrypting my N6 and try again update it.
----------EDIT------------
Guess, NLBeev was right. I can`t make an OTA update when my N6 is rooted, only manually method. I really afraid of this manually updates, because of losing something from my phone, or even brick it.
fear is something that xda can not help you with. itll happen through out life, in many situations. the only thing that you can do is deal with it and move on.
I manually update mine every update and have yet to have an issue.
I f you're encrypted (good!) then my earlier concern is irrelevant. Sideload the newest OTA at the link I gave you. I've done it now several times with two Nexus 5s and a Nexus 6. It's quick and simple and doesn't touch your data.
But I still always take a TWRP backup first and copy it to my laptop. Can't be too careful...
Once again thanks for help! I`ll try install them manually, as fast as I make backup by twrp.
Ach, I forgot, last question, which update should I download? I`ve got January system security updates, so should I download every single one by one? Or just last one (July 6.0.1 (MOB30O))?
Regards!
By "manually' do you mean extracting the separate components (system, radio, boot...)? I strongly recommend the OTA sideload method. Fast and simple, with no data loss.
You need only do it once. Download the MOB30O OTA and sideload it. Then if you want you can flash TWRP and root.

Looking for TWRP backup of Android 8.1 Stock (OPW28.2)

Hi all, It would be great if someone here with the OPW28.2 update (Android 8.1.0, May 1 security patch) and TWRP installed could create a backup of their System and Boot partitions, and share it here. Fastboot images for the update don’t seem to exist at all, so I figured I might as well go the nandroid backup route.
Here's mine from XT1900-1 A1 version. I grabbed this after flashing the 8.1 FI image then taking the 28.2 OTA.

How to get security patch updates with root? [Note 8]

Hello dear Community,
so i am running a stock rom with magsik and I obviously can't make OTA updates automatically. But i only want to have the security patches, are they linked to the Android Version or is it possible to have Android 7.1.1 with the security patches of e.g. may 2019? I don't want to make the whole install process via odin again, then i will have to deinstall the bloatware again which is kinda annoying to do every month? Is there a way to get only security patches or do I have to install the whole system again?
Kind regards

The security patches are not linked to the android version (google says) but the reality is that is related, and every monthly securtity patch requires the newest version of the firmware available.
Since you are rooted you can install a custom ROM an have the latest patch, or go to the international firmware and you wont get bloatware, (need to root again) keep in mind that the international version doesnt support wifi calls and VoLTE since those options are carrier related.

Question Android 12 Update Procedure

Hi,
I bought the device last year in December and installed this costum recovery and root. Around that time it was very difficult to install an update without losing data or root so I stopped doing it (I tried with Oxygen Updater).
I'm currently still on Build 11.0.14.14.EB13BA. Now I want to upgrade to the A12 OS.
Can someone recommend a procedure without losing root and the data?
The Oxygen OS internal update feature suggests an incremental update with the size of 104MB. I think this would make me loose root.
Oxygen OS updater didn't work the last time.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
I used this guide for OTA with Root and it worked.
The only thing is that ORang Fox Custom Recovery is now gone.
Does anybody know if there's a working Costum Recovery available for Oxygen OS 12 (ebba)?
