I just received my Galaxy S10 plus yesterday. I am coming from an S8 plus and on it I was always able to see the clock or calendar when it was on the charging stand or just sitting on the table. With the S10 Plus the screen is always dark until I tap it. Is there a way to have the clock or calendar always show up on the display?
Thanks,
Steven

Hi, i need to understand if my Tab S2 8.0 is defective or it's a common bug;
If i set a black wallpaper like:
http://www.androidcentral.com/sites...rs/pure-black-wallpaper-159.jpg?itok=F7s-qzpr
in home screen upper left corner i see a white halo, it's more noticeable in a dark or semi dark room with auto brightness on. The strange thing is that when i watch the same image in gallery or quick pic at full screen there is no white halo, so i don't think it's a defective display.
Here's a pic of what i see. (Live it's more noticeable than in the photo)
Please let me know if you have the same issue.
Please help me, tomorrow is the last day to have a replacement where i bought it (10days)
Nobody can help me? Please set a black background and watch if you see the halo effect in home screen, i don't think it's so difficult
I'm thinking of getting either a Note 9 or an S10 to replace my Pixel 2 XL. Been searching for some info about how screen-off notifications are handled but haven't been able to find it, hoping someone here will help me out. Last time I owned a Samsung device (S8+), I found I didn't like the way the always-on display was utilised as much as I like it on Google devices. Wondering if it's changed with more recent Samsung UIs. When the screen is off (but AOD is on), what happens when a new notification comes in? Does it wake the screen, does the notification show in an "ambient" version like on stock Android, or do you just see the icon and not get the text at all? And, since I'll have the exynos version and have the bootloader unlocked, is there a way to enable the ambient behaviour if it's not stock? Thanks!
I have mine set to not show, I been meaning to get that working so I'll try to get some screenshot tonight and post!
Hopefully maybe someone else will also!

Im used to the led light on my previous samsung phones. The s10 doesn't have one but people were asking samsung to implement the camera cut out light, others made apps and one that was interesting that was the AOD would activate only when there was a notification to open.
As im looking to switch to the s10, are there news on the implementation of the notification light or new apps? Do the current apps work well?
Thank you!
If you're only looking for an LED notification, Samsung has updated the Edge Lighting + settings within the Good Lock app to create an notification ring to display around the camera cut out. I have it set on my phone and it performs exactly to my liking.

Thanks!
I have read and seen videos on it when it was released but it only worked for a few seconds when the notification showed up and didn't keep "blinking" like the led/until you seen or open the notification. Its still like that right?
I'm not 100% sure about that. I rarely see my notifications right away and generally check my phone when I get back to my desk when at work.
Holey Light on the play store...
I have read that holey lights uses quite a bit of battery, i wanted something that didn't use as much.
There was this AOD app that would only show when there was a notification but i don't know how well it works
Led notification

Also it doesn't work for downloaded apps on screen off mode.

Coming from a samsung mobile, i was just wondering if there is any way to get notifications like on the samsung mobiles on the AOD screen, instead of the just red tintet clock, and the 2 analogue clocks?
Bump
Go back to Samsung. This phone has no dev work. We will never have a proper aod.
+1, came from Samsung and I miss the options it had for AOD, would also be cool if we have more digital clocks AOD options instead of the red lines garbage we have now
Bump
Have you tried any of the AOD apps in the Play store? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newgen.alwayson&hl=en_GB

Yes, it's very good and all but the problem with it is that it takes a lot of battery in a very short amount of time, as the screen is "on" all the time in the battery consumption settings.
Hi,
I currently have a Pixel but am considering getting an S10. One of the features I love on the Pixel is the clock app’s screensaver-it means I can prop my phone up by the side of my bed and have a dim display showing just the clock. Does the S10 have anything similar please? Thanks!
I have an non-rooted S10e (SM-G970U). The screensaver settings unfortunately do not offer a clock option - only photos or colors. It's too bad Samsung doesn't have this option. I used it as you described on other phones and loved it. Now I use AOD as a substitute but , of course, it's "Always On" - not just at night when charging.
You setup the always on display to only trigger at night, it'll do the job pretty well if you're looking for a nightstand option. The always on display comes with various clock faces so I'm sure it won't be very difficult to find the right fit. If you can't from the stock ones you could always download good lock for extra clockfaces
Or you could just download any clock style screensaver which will do exactly what you're looking for. Display a clock when the phone is on charge and you let the screen go off on it's own. It's been in Android phones for years. S10 comes with a few built in screensavers.
AOD is the best option though. Minimal battery use.
