Recent apps.. - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Updated to UI One. Now I can't find settings to show recent apps in list mode. Am I missing something?

You'll need Good lock and task changer app to come close to what you want. Otherwise the list view is no more.

weather widget/flip clock stops refreshing

i hope i don't create a redundant thread, but a preceding search (flip clocks) in the DREAM forum only returned 3 existing threads, which all did not discuss this question.
my weather widget/flip clock (donate version) stops refreshing frequently. it is usually trailing for some time, mostly up to an hour or so, until it wakes up again.
i know the instruction: exclude weather widget from task killer (or add to "ignore list")
HOWEVER....
i don't even have a task killer installed....
Toggle Settings has a task killer embedded, but I haven't even activated it (seemed to cause more problems than solving any...)
so... what else do i have to do, apart from that above, that i can't do.
thanks for any hint.
cheers
Download Advanced Task Manager and exclude it from there. You should have a task manager anyhow.
i tried that (with toggle settings task killer (ignore list)) and estrongs task manager (ignore list)... but both didn't change a thing.
that's why i am so confused

correction... i think it was just that.
i tried Advanced Task Manager, excluded weather widget in that one, and now it works like a charm...
but that means many other task killers are just not doing it right....... because they didn't work.
thanks for the help!
Had this issue, just paid the $0.99 for the app and hope this takes care of it.
Thanks all!

yes, all the best! at first it seemed not to work.
i managed it by doing the following:
1. open the weather widget app (not the widget, the app that comes along with it, in which we change settings or themes, etc.)
2. while weather widget app is open, start advanced task manager and add the weather widget app to the exlude list (also to the auto-kill exclude list)
this did it for me. finally the flip clock is on time. ALWAYS
my clock stops working when there is a forcast error and only starts working again when i refresh the weather. I've contacted the dev and told him about it and he said he will look into it.
i just figured out that although adding it to the exclude list of advanced task manager it still "crashes" occasionally.
then the weather app has to be re-started, and then it works again.
something makes weather app crashing, and i believe it's low memory. should extract a log ...
Same problem here. Excluded it from kill list, but still runs consistently behind, when it's not locked up for hours. Quite a disappointment after coming from Beautiful Widgets. Can't exclude from Auto Kill list on free Advanced Task Manager, but shouldn't have to buy an app to make another work properly!
i figured it out, somehow...
i realized that apart from Advanced Task Manager, I had also Toggle Settings, which also kills processes (I find this feature of Toggle Settings is not as intiuitive but it seems impossible to have it deactivated).
so, i have to:
- exclude from Advanced Task Manager
- exclude from Advanced Task Manager autokill
- exclude from Toggle Settings
- exclude from Toggle Settings autokill
... for any new app that has a task manager and autokill function this will have to be done separately
finally i got it working
I've tried excluding it from Taskiller, Advanced Task Manager, Estrongs, etc and it still stops refreshing. After unlocking, it's always wrong, requiring refresh. Hopefully dev can get this app working correctly.

I'm not sure if you are using Cyanogen, but if you go into your apps list open the Spare Parts app. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list of options. The last one should be 'Home app in memory'. This is where the lesser of two evils comes in, at least from my experience. When checked, the Weather Widget clock will freeze and you will constantly have to refresh to update. When unchecked, no problems with the Weather Widget, BUT you will have a lag(2-5 sec) when returning to your Home screen. The delay may not bother you at first, but it will eventually...especially when you are trying to make a call and have to wait for all your icons to show.

How to create new shortcuts in Android apps menu?

Hi there,
Maybe this is a weird question but, is it possible to add new apps shortcuts to the android menu? I have installed (for example) few of the new Good Lock 2019 apps and i know how to run them and how to create shortcuts in the homescreen but i would like to add the apps to the android apps menu, is it possible by using any app or not?
Thanks in advance!

I've done the same thing today... Installed first all the new good lock apps for pie that I needed and then installed activity manager (André De Sousa developer... said this for a lot of apps with the same name) from the play store to make shortcut launchers on my home. Everything works on pie.
If there's something wired, this is the good lock app itselfe working only in a few countries....because good lock is the real app that launches the others that are meant to be activities and not apps by themselves.
Tasker. New task - plug in - secure settings - Actions - launch activity. Export through app factory. Takes one minute.

Question Vertical Recent Apps

Is there any way at all to change the recent app list from horizontal to vertical? Willing to try any mod if there are any available. Thanks in advance.
Edit: I also have the snapdragon version.
Rotation lock on then turn phone 90 degrees ;-)
If you use Good Lock the Home Up module recently had an update that added a Task Changer. This new Task Changer allows you to display the recent apps in grid, list and stack layout. I've been using the new grid layout for a while now. There used to be a separated Good Lock Module that had similar functionality.

Question Task Changer/Manager Alternatives?

Coming from Oxygen, there's still a lot of visual stuff I dislike about One UI, though I will say, it's FAR better than the last Samsung I used which ran TouchWiz.
Running Nova and Theme Park to get things looking/running the way I generally prefer.
The one last piece that I really dislike but can't find a complete solution for is the Task Manager. I have Home Up running, but the part that annoys me is the Recent App shortcuts. They appear to be randomly generated, and the icons are horrific and cartoony. I just don't like it.
Is there an alternative or way to just turn the recent app shortcuts off? Screenshot attached for clarity.
Home up, task changer, disable "hide search bar"
Enter recents, three dots menu in search bar, settings, disable "show recommended apps"
Now you can hide search bar again

I actually discovered that RIGHT as I got a notification of your reply.
Big thanks for chiming in.
While I still generally think One UI < Oxygen, with enough tweaks, I can deal.
Question for you OP. How'd you get home up working while using Nova. None of the settings seem to stick when changing task manager using goodlock homeup when move is set to default.

there is a recent update to One UI Home that fixed that issue for me with lawnchair.
if youre not getting it through samsung, you can sideload it from here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...rience-home-touchwiz-home-12-1-05-11-release/
you also may or may not have to update home up.

Thanks that worked! Looking clean now. I also hated the suggested apps at the bottom. I use a higher dpi and that was not affected by the dpi change. So it looked even worse on my phone. They looked huge compared to everything else.

Hi there
I was wondering if there is any way to apply the new homeup with the task changer on one ui 2.5 or any other good lock plugins for that matter
Samsung is only updating them for android 11 and was really hoping to get them on my phone
BTW I have a note 9 so no updates for me

General Love the new GoodLock (esp HomeUp)

Samsung released their major update for GoodLock and the associated widgets this morning (i got them in UK at least anyway)
The new HomeUp is great ... adds a major element which makes the app tray so much nicer ... VERTICAL scrolling in one long list instead of pages.
I already really like the ability to make the home screen & folders support many more rows/columns -- but this no more horizontal app tray = best bit ever
Makes OneUI finally for me a decent launcher
Why they just don't incorporate GoodLock and the extras into the main codeline i have no idea
What version of GoodLock and HomeUp do you have?
About the vertical scrolling, I can't the "priority app list" on the top of the drawer, why they didn't add a switch for that... Anyway I'm back to Nova hehe

All good lock new modules are now up on apkmirror
Thx 4 info but I need patched one from here https://downloads.corsicanu.ro/GoodLock/12/
EDIT: patched new versions are available. I had hoped for option to remove priority app list but not this time (again)
I use Fine Lock, it's a Good Lock launcher that lets you launch any module and it comes with some additional features like customizing the UI of the app and let you know when a module has been updated.

Yeah, so good change but still unusable, why the hell that part is not optional as it take nearly half of the screen -.-
They even fixed my problem of being unable to save and restore setups - something triggered by the OneUI 4.0 update. Finally sorted out.
Agreed that most of the HomeUp features should be integrated in Home UI settings. I guess Samsung thinks users would be overwhelmed if they cram all the options in.
