Hey
I have an little issue with my car and the bluetooth on my phone
I have a Peugeot 208 and when i'm connect my phone for streaming audio , the level of the bluetooth come back at each connection to the middle , and at each connection i go to the max ...
I don't understand because on my bluetooth speaker(JBL BOOMBOX) the volume of bluetooth go to the maximum ( the phone save the last level of the bluetooth )
It's not the car , because on my s9+ i don't have the problem
I try to download software for change the default volume on my car , but never work ( i don't forget to desactivate the saver battery for this app)
Anybody have the problem? or a solution ?
i try to activate/desactive " disable the absolute volume" but no change
Thanks so much
You could use a tasker profile to set the volume to the required level as soon as you car's bluetooth is connected.

I have this same issue in my Honda with many phones, but nowhere else. I have gotten warnings before when I try to raise volume that "going louder may damage hearing". I assume it is just the implementation in the car and sending data to devices that support it about what should be a default volume level. Only way I found to fix was when I installed a custom ROM on one of my phones it no longer changed the volume like that. So it seems to be a ROM setting that can be changed to avoid this.

I mentioned before how I had this problem in my Honda and nowhere else with other phones. Now after having this phone and playing around with it a few days I can confirm it too has the volume lowering problem in my Honda, but not in my Infiniti or anything else I have tried it on (a couple receivers)
MacroDroid is probably the easiest fix. The problem definitely seems to come from certain devices and certain supported Bluetooth stacks exchanging data about what default/safe volume should be. Any devices that dont support this data exchange dont change the volume.
My volume also auto adjusts to middle or lower when I connect to my car radio.
Didn't happened before so I'm thinking it's was last update

You should activate the developer options and set bluetooth version to 1.6. That should solve this problem. Not my findings, got the tip from someone else and it works

Hi there, is this for music audio mainly? If its for video etc, I dont think there is much you can do. For audio however, I have tried all of the "volume booster" apps including DSP / Beats and they didnt make a noticeable difference to me. However, I downloaded a "paid for" app called Music Folder Player and it has an in-built volume booster which is excellent. I use my Note a lot for music and this is, in my opinion, the most well rounded music app, in terms of sound quality, volume and overall customisation. Worth a try.
I hope this helps. Please hit Thanks if it did.

This may seem like a silly question but have you tried alternative headphones? if you have, and if you have tried using a different ROM ( I experienced volume issues with CM10 based ROMs previously) then it could be a hardware problem, possibly in the headphone jack itself. flash a different ROM (not CM10 or AOKP), try different headphones and if the problem persists then it is probably the headphone jack that needs attention.
I hope this helps. Please hit Thanks if it did.

are you using an AOSP / AOKP ROM? Have you tried a Stock based ROM? does the audio seem ok over bluetooth / A2DP? if so it would seem to be a problem with the headphone jack. I had this with my HTC Hero and it had to go back to the manufacturer for repair.
If your serious about you music google fiio "headphone amplifier" I use one and they are perfect.
As well as giving you the option to crank the volume up untill you blow your headphones and your eardrums
they also do wonders for the sound quality.

I've got too sound problems. At stock ics sound was working normal, but the highest volume wasn't very high. Now tested with some JB roms and the sound slider moves normally but volume doesn't increase when it's above half. That speakerboost app didn't increase volume at all With headphones the volume is quite ok but in car i need more volume because of my amplifier.

Hi guys, I'm on the official LM5 Jellybean firmware, and have a couple of issues to share.
1. When I'm listening to music (speaker or earphones), during quiet portion of the song (ie. intro, outro) the sound doesn't come out when the volume is at level 1, like it'd be dead silent. As soon as the song progresses to louder portions, the sound comes back. This bothers me because I use noise canceling earphones and I don't need the volume to go higher than 1 or 2.
2. Also, another issue is when I unplug my earphones while the music is playing, the phone doesn't automatically pause the music (like it did on ICS), and it would continuing playing thru the loud speaker.
If anyone can confirm the same issues (especially on LM5) that'd be great!
You sure it's not your headphones dropping the sound? Tried others?

I'm almost certain that it's not my earphone's fault. I've tried two pairs, and even when music is playing through the loudspeaker at volume 1, when I put my ear up against it, I can hear silence when the song is quiet.
I don't think it's the mp3 file's fault either because I've tried playing youtube Vevo songs too.
Was the other pair a regular headphone, or noise cancelling as well? Just sounds like some sort of noise cancelling effect. But you never know.
Never noticed it on mine.

I've tried the my Sony noise cancelling headphones, the stock Samsung ear bud earphones, and regular iPod earphones. And as I mentioned, it doesn't even play out of the loud speaker, so I'm sure it's not a hardware issue, more like something to do with the codecs. The relatively quiet sounds just doesn't come out at all when it's at volume 1 or 2.
For me, if I listen to this song's beginning (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb9CuupX5-Q), at volume 1, it's really choppy because of the quieter portion. At volume 3+, it plays fine.
If you have time, can you try it on yours (LM5?). See if you can hear a difference between volume 1 and volume ~5.
What are you using to play? I don't have volume steps as in 1 or 3. Or are you just using this as one notch from mute etc.

Yep -- this is a bug that is still not fixed. It affects wired and speaker audio -- but supposedly not Bluetooth. A lot of people just don't notice it, because of the music they listen to, but try listening to Classical and it will drive you nuts.

It never happened to me when I was on ICS, and now it's here with JB, so I'm kind of disappointed.
It is working on my LT30p with rooted JB. I don't know why.
1. uninstall update of Smart Connect.
2. disable Smart Connect
3. power off then power on the phone
after these step, Walkman works with headset again in sleap mode.
EDIT: Stop playing the next track again. So it is NOT a replicatable solution. Forget it.

Its just because the sleep policy of our JB its still not optimized. Look at teh batterystats. Our device isnt sleeping. And there is mismach wit handroid LMK killer. And if you do some stuff like you mentioned. Soemthing its changed and it starts working. But not for a long time ...
Searching around and I found that there are many people countering this bug too --> http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/408382
The solution is using another temporary music player like poweramp or rock music player, and wait for the next update. Hope this bug will be fixed soone.

When update to JB through sony Update Service, the device does not fall in deep sleep and with a bad battery strain than ICS.
After rooted (thanks to TiMiN8R), disable google now and some location related options of google maps, now it falls in deep sleep every time when screen locks.

Taken on 4.1.2.
It appears to me like the device is, in fact, sleeping normally.
I'm pretty sure Walkman issues are app-specific, otherwise other players would suffer too.

Someone said Amazon Mp3 Player had the same issues.
And the ICS version Walkman in JB had the same issues too.
I did not verify these.
If these are ture, the issue should not be app-specific.
Here's the problem: PowerAMP and DeaDBeeF both play music fine.

Yes i think this was in the sony forums. So it could be something related to the android media server or something. I have never used amazon player, but if we find out whats the difference between Amazon and Walkman and other media apps, i think we can find a solution.
Weird. I never noticed this problem with Walkman on .489 fw (modified - I must say).

Yes, bluetooth plays fine, but couple of bugs there too.
1)volume is low when first connected to bluetooth... (unless you dial a number for even a second and end call)
2)started to notice lately that audio quality (specially bass) is pretty choppy on bluetooth.
Yes, bluetooth volume problem is there. But playing alarm sound in volume settings solves it for that one connection. (no need to make a call)
But how many songs do I need to listen with headphones, to notice that Walkman bug? I tried 3 without any pause.
That Bluetooth volume thing, is that only on walkman? Becausei just tried it myself on PowerAmp and I didn't notice any difference (don't have Walkman on my phone anymore since I got a license for PowerAmp which I think is ten times better)
Not even after a short phone call of playing alarm sound from settings.
Please try it, because if it isn't then I did something in my Rom that fixed it (and maybe I will share CrazyBuild v1.3 a little sooner then)

I only use the Walkman app...so notice the volume issue on it so far. Just reinstalling JB after flashing ICS to test audio quality.. Will have a go with PowerAmp afterwards.
I have PoweAmp license too, but I like Walkman more.
I don't have that bug causing pauses between tracks, but BT volume after connection is always low.
Already uninstalled Smart connect, because it started to be annoying. Now I am using A2DP Volume app. This doesn't help. Volume slider is at maximum, but volume is low. Playing alarm sound by moving alarm volume slider solves this.
I started to do some modifications, but I can test it only in my car.

Reported to Google - Issue 53281
Please star it if you can reproduce the issue!
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=53281
Potential Danger
This can be potentially dangerous for people that uses the Nexus 4 AS A PHONE everyday, or even rely on phoning in his/her job.
In the above example where a user with Headset is unaware of the "Inherited" Highest In-Call Volume from the Speaker mode, the user's ears would be blasted every time he/she makes/receives a phone call.
Phone calls are the essential feature of a phone. Bugs inside the In-Call Volume on a stock Nexus 4 is really intolerable.
This seems to be a small issue like the incorrect battery percentage reporting / buzzing phone speaker / shaking the phone causes sound etc., but this is different, because it can cause human damage!
Again, please help me to catch Google's attention on this by starring the issue, with the hope that they will fix it soon. Thanks!

Well, I don't use it really frequently too. But don't you want to help make the N4 perfect? That is a very basic function and really shouldn't appear on this phone. In addition, I believe it would be a pain for people who makes alot of phone calls every day. Really a pain.
Because there are alot of people don't care, thats why this basic volume bug is not getting fixed.

Well. Sorry to say.
I never used Google stock ROM since Nexus one. Nexus S. galaxy Nexus. And also Nexus 4.
as far as i know. low volume quality earpiece when in call volume happens since Nexus S.
so i always use custom kernel and ROM.
a question. Which one will blast our ears?
earpiece or earphones (headset/headphones).
thats why this basic volume bug is not getting fixed.

For low quality, I can still live with it as long as it doesnt damage my ears, but for this one, it is a freaking volume blast.
I have tested the issue (volume inheritance between profiles) on my maguro and it is not there.
I hvn't tested it with those big headphones. But I believe the effect will be significant in those earpieces that put volumes directly into our ear canals - unexpected maxed volume together with the background noise + low quality output, that blast will be horrible!
As far as my knowledge tells, some earpieces have an overall higher volume (especially those without a mic on the wires, and is especially built for music instead of phone calls) to facilitate better music experience. And those combined with this bug will result in a catastrophe. I have changed my earpiece to those built for phone calls + casual music, and even it blasts, the impact is not as big as the ones mentioned above.
so i believe it happens when u used headset isn't it?
and also headset doesn't include out of the box in Nexus 4.
is it possible some thing wrong with your custom headset?

No, I have tried different ones, with mic, with no mic, etc.
Headsets may be different in their "actual volume output loudness" (how loud ACTUALLY do u hear with the same volume setting, might be different), but the OP is talking about the "software volume output". No matter how quiet your headset is, the bug still happens. (when u plug back in the headset, the call volume output of the nexus 4 still remains the one u set without headset)
It is only a matter of whether it will damage your ears. if your headset's "actual volume output loudness" is loud, then it blasts your ears. if it is very quiet, then it doesnt hurt you.

I have this problem too and it's really annoying. I'm temporarily fixing it as follows:
I'm currently solving this issue using Llama: whenever I plug in my headphones, I set my call volume to maximum and set a variable. Then whenever I'm in call, I set the call volume back to down to minimum (or whatever you want) AFTER A ONE SECOND DELAY (this is important) if the variable is set. The variable gets cleared whenever the volume gets set back down since it doesn't need to be done multiple times.

Hello there!
Since EMUI 12 update I'm experiencing low volume via Bluetooth on my headphones and earbuds.
There's no absolute volume toogle in developer settings anymore.
Huawei removed it. Only they know why.
Tested this on
Sony wh-1000xm3
Sony wf-1000xm4
Soundcore Liberty 3 pro
Is there any other way to increase volume via Bluetooth?
Thanks
I have no problem. You can use phone volume (it will change to BT volume) also.
I know that. It was way louder on EMUI11 because I had absolute volume option. In comparison with my galaxy s10 plus, p40 pro at max volume is near 70% volume on s10 plus. Thanks for replying.
Does anyone found solution for this sound issue? Low volume is even when im connected to my car
Hi
Just unpair device and re-pair will do.
It works on my mate 20x that has low volume after the upgrade

Try the solution above
It was different for me. I had disable absolute volume feature enabled on EMUI 11. This option doesn't exist on EMUI 12, but somehow stayed on. Now I can add more volume by clicking volume up on my headphones after reaching maximum volume on the phone.
had the same problems on EMUI 12, also huawei removed "full volume control over bluetooth" from developer options. besides that i hate the new notification area. so i reverted back to emui11 and will stay there.
but i also had low bluetooth volume on EMUI11 , until i found out that i debloated my device and removed
com.huawei.imedia.sws (Histen. Special sound effects found in the sound settings.)
re-enabled it and now my headphones blasting my ears again
also i changed "bluetooth-audio-codec" (when connected to a device) in developer options from AAC to SBC and immediately switched back to AAC, that seemed to rise the volume a bit too.
I found Sync volume with Phone option in Bluetooth Settings >connected device settings (Mine was Jabra & ASG) that solved my Low Volume issue..

Exactly, open the bluetooth settings, select the device and the settings icon and just choose "sync volume with phone"

I just found out that now, with EMUI 12, you can select "synchronize volume" in Bluetooth menu
for each earphones , clicking on the "engine" icon, you can access to a secondary menu, were there's this option
just verified with my Sony WF-XB700
Also if I use screen recording the volume goes up, can anyone check if it's the same with you?
The synchronize option was already active for me
