Does anyone have a trustworthy source of a Marshmallow or Nougat ROM for the A1-840FHD? I don't want to go blindly downloading. This is my first root, so I'd love to learn from y'all who can be trusted.
Thanks,
Benjamin
I don't think so bro. I been searching for almost a year now, and all that I come across are fake L roms. I was tempted to try them, but forum searches told me they were fake and might brick your device; hence I never tried them. Plus if they were legit, those roms would most likely be found on XDA.
what's the best guide to root an a1-840fhd? 4.4.2 Kernel 3.10.20+ . This is my first android rooting ever.

way 2 worked grate for me
I've just rooted my Acer A1-840FHD after having it for a while now, and I am also looking for a custom ROM, anything over Android Lollipop so I could have the ability to run more apps. Acer really should have distributed an update as the tablet runs at 64 bit and is capable of handling much more than Android KitKat, in the meantime, I'm using an Android Nougat launcher from the Play Store which doesn't really add any functionality, just looks. Every single website that I find is either a cash grab or a cash grab. Hopefully someone can make a custom ROM for this device soon.
I know this has kinda been asked before, but it got misinterpreted as Samsung Pay and it was ages ago. I was just wondering: Has anyone actually got Android Pay and a Note 7 custom rom working together? It's kinda a major feature for me, but the Note 7 roms I've tried all say its invalid. However, the Note 7 roms are so dam good and whenever I go back I miss the features from the Note 7
Pls help
Unfortunately there isn't a way to use Android Pay with ANY custom roms that are based on Note 7 (from my experience).
On a Note 5 based custom rom or stock rooted rom I am able to use Android Pay with no issues. But the only root related issues are Snapchat where I have to remove root before logging in, then re-rooting.
Its now reached android 7 new version from lower versions. It can even go more android versions. This chipset is powerfull. Oreo is planning in chinese firmware.Even price is no so low.Seriously why no custom roms yet?
Leave your suggestions.

Dont know the way to unlock bootloader.I found some one tried porting and falied. This device have a wide possibility if custom roms can also be installed.:silly:
This phone is uncertified and Google are blocking uncertified devices from Oreo onwards so it will have to stay on 7.0.
There's no custom ROMs because you can't unlock the bootloader.
I like the phone but too much messing about setting up Google Play Services and too many problems with Play Protect due to it's uncertified status.
Hi,
Please I am tired and really I need help, I will try to explain my problem In short:
1- I love the note series devices and I feel it's designed specially for me, I was from the first people who bought the note 1 and I remember how people were looking to me in the street or in bus, at that time the note 1 was something different because of it's big display , but because of Samsung stock rom, every year I buy the note and sell it after one month.
2- when I use the note I feel like I am naked in the street, I feel no privacy, why Facebook, Microsoft and some application installed in my system and I can't completely remove them? why these Apps took big space in my Phone? I bought this Phone yes? I paid money yes? why others control something I paid it's cost? why when I search for something in the most private browser (Firefox) I find my searches in Facebook as ads? maybe if Samsung gave me the note for free or 50% discount maybe I will accept this.
3- Now I have rooted note 9 Exynos N960F DS with unlocked bootloader, I tried many custom roms here the most rom I liked the Pixel Experience 9.0, but the huge battery usage made me sad, I was happy again when I found the GSI AOSP 9 and 10, I tried for weeks to install this rom but it's stock on the booting android logo, I searched a lot, I found a kernel they say it will make the GSI rom work on my note 9 but no way.
4- I found a nice uncompleted solution by deleting unwanted apps completely, I installed TWRP and used a file manager inside @dr.ketan (N960F_DS_N_PIE_Root_for_OEM_issue_devices_V5.zip), finally I was able to delete some stupid Apps from my note 9, but then my Note 9 could't boot the stock rom, I must use the root and OEM fix in the @dr.Keta zip file, but this made mey note 9 rooted with some problems in G play services.
What I need now?
1- Is there any way to install the GSI AOSP 9 or 10 on my note 9? it will be great to me.
2- If GSI AOSP rom can't be installed, can I use TWRP with stock rom without root? or can I restore the stock recovery after using TWRP?
2- Anyone has any idea to help me?
Hi, I'm new here and also suck at all things tech.
I recently got the Note 9 and it's just a beautiful phone in almost all aspects. I'm having some problems with it, but that's for another forum. I want to ask here about rooting and ROMs. Can the Note 9 be rooted and are there ROMs available for it? If so, what is the easiest way for me to go about rooting it and installing a custom ROM? Do I look for computer and cell phone stores in my city and ask them?
One of my past phones was rooted and had a custom ROM. It was splendid just because of the ROM and from then on, I couldn't imagine having a phone I didn't root and get a custom ROM for. Unfortunately, since then, all my phones have been ZTE which-- at least for a long time-- didn't have any available ROMs. If this phone can be rooted and upgraded with a custom ROM, awesome. If I can fix the other issues first.
You didn't say what processor your phone has so here goes:
For Snapdragon CPUs: https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/samsung-galaxy-note-9-snapdragon-roms-kernels.8318/
For Exynos CPUs: https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/samsung-galaxy-note-9-exynos-roms-kernels-reco.8016/
There are many custom ROMs, kernels, etc here in the XDA sections. In my opinion NobleROM would be one of the best ones just from what I've read/seen about it.
But do ask yourself if you really need root and a custom ROM on the Note9. I'm a guy who could never imagine having an unrooted phone until I got the Note9 - it has everything I'd want stock and there is also GoodLock modules which are made specifically for OneUI by Samsung and don't require root.
PS: Just NEVER put a Snapdragon ROM/kernel on an Exynos phone and vice versa or you'll most likely brick it.
