Hi,
I was wondering if there was a way to hide the status bar in my homescreens but have it reappear just when I receive a notification (so I can see the preview on the status bar).
Also, is there a way to hide my status bar in my homescreens but have it reappear by tapping the area where it would normally be?
I have looked for a way to do this but I have only found methods of completely hiding the status bar without being able to see it when necessary...
Thanks.
Has anyone found a way to do this?
I don't know if this is what you mean, but I use ADW (the paid one) and I have my status bar hidden and the home button pulls the notifications down when I want to see/check. If I get a notification, it doesn't stay down, but it is simple to hit the home button, check notifications and then slide it back up.
I was actually looking for something that would either:
1) show me the notification alert at the top of the screen even when I have hidden the status bar OR
2) allow me to see the status bar whenever I want (possibly a button press/gesture/etc.)
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Adw launcher or go-laucnher can do that.
hide the notification bar, use gesture to hide/unhide it
Yea ADW- Launcher does this. You can hide the notification bar permanently but then set a gesture to swipe down/up and you get it to pop up like it was always there. Do the same swipe and it goes away.
OK, thats good to know.
Thanks for the help.
Tried a dozen cases and finally settled on the sena case magnet flipper. The only issue is not being able to scroll down from the notification screen to clear calls or updates etc. The top of the case is too low.
Is there a desktop app that can do this?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
If you have adw launcher installed just make a custom shortcut long press on a home screen with real estate -> custom shortcut -> pick your activity -> launcher actions ->open/close notifications.
Then just tap that icon on your home screen and the notification bar should open.
That would work, but you would have to be at a homepage, and with adw you can swipe down anywhere on the home page to open notifications anyway...
I think you can assign different actions to open notifications but i'm not sure how you would get them to work when away from the homepage. Adw will let you assign the home button to open notifications, etc, so that may work.
There are also some tablet tweaks that let you move the notification bar to the bottom of the screen...
Actually danger the swipe down action is another option but it's not default you have to enable it and you can make it do more than just open the notification bar. adw settings -> general behavior -> swipe down action.
That's awesome guys! Been struggling for months and all the cases (with front covers) hide the notifications bar or come down too low. In CM, went to settings / adwlauncher / general behavior / swipe down actions / open/close notifications.
Now can swipe on the homescreen to bring down the notification bar and clear it
Thanks!

Click to collapse
Thanks Dude! xD
I've noticed that the notification symbols disappear if you pull the drawer down, and push it back up without interacting with a notice.
It's frustrating as I want the notification to remain until "I" decide to action it.
Has anybody else noticed the same?
there's a setting
under personalization
untick clear viewed notifications.
What's its function?
I have, yes, but mine has appeared over the "Google" text. It appears to be a "press" animation that is "stuck" or something. I just press on the location and it opens the Google app, then when back to the home screen it is gone. Not sure how to reproduce it.
Am able to reproduce it, by touching the Google search bar on the Google Now page, the far left page, the bubble stays where I pressed.
Nobody else has this?
Really?
I don't have the bubble on the home screen or by touching the Google search bar on the Google Now page. I tried touching the search bar several times and never saw the bubble.
I have it -- only on the 6, no other device [yet]. I can watch it pulse and change slightly and it moves from the center of the bar to the middle of the right half sometimes. Tapping the widget then cancelling input will make it go away for a while. Maybe it's Google's way to remind us to use the search bar since it's something I do not frequently do.
I can reproduce it by touching the Search Bar and swiping down, then the dot will stay where ever you touched it until you press on the widget to perform a search. I've done this when trying to swipe down the notification window but not quite hitting the status bar to pull down the notification window.
I've noticed this on my N6 as well on the same bar. If I tap in the bar and tap away, the bubble will go away. I thought it was a bug in the animation. I can reproduce it by touching the bar and dragging my finger out of the bar.
I rearranged some of the toggles that are accessed by pulling down the notification shade. When I moved a couple of toggles into the upper portion, it moved the "More" toggle down. After closing the shade I am no longer able to rearrange toggles because the "More" is missing.
Does anyone know how I can get "More" back?
Thank you
Update: Continuing to search for a possible solution, I found a thread on discussing a similar (but not self inflected like mine) situation of having no "Edit" or "More" toggle showing. One suggestion was to swipe left or right when the original group shows. For the person with the problem, this did not work. Swiping right did nothing for me; BUT swiping right was the jackpot. There by itself sat a toggle button labeled More, and I was once again able to rearrange the buttons. I have marked this a solved.
