I'm trying to root my g5s plus without installing a custom room or recovery. I want to keep it as stock as possible.
I've tried many one click root methods but they either fail to root my device or say "app not installed" when I run the app
Any replies appreciated

RE: Rogers Moto X root & OTA
I want to root the Moto X. The thing is, I've never stuck with a stock ROM before. Every time I get a new phone I root, install a recovery, and a custom ROM. It's usually the first thing I do before even playing around or using the phone.
However, with the Moto X, the stock ROM is phenomenal. I would still like to root in order to use Xposed and Titanium Backup. I'd also like to install a custom recovery for backup and just in case anything ever goes wrong.
My question: will I still receive OTA updates while rooted on a stock ROM?
If yes, will installing these updates cause problems to the ROM, revoke root access, or remove the custom recovery?
If yes, how would I go about installing an update while maintaining root and a custom recovery?
Reading the stickies is always the first step.
I'll point you to a relevant one. There's more too!

I have a 2013 Moto X xt1060. I recently rooted my phone from android 5.1, the only problem is that this is a write-protected root and won't let me modify system files so I am unable to install any custom recovery, while trying to it through adb, I am getting a "variable not supported" error. I just want some way to flash zips into phone without recovery. I have already tried Flash Gordon. It didn't help.

Thanks brother. I'll check it out.
I'm in a bind and have tried almost everything that your boards have to offer.
I've been trying to extend the life of my Moto X (2013) XT1056 via rooting to do some tasker things.
The recent OTA update came out and I tried to use FlashFire to run it and it has softbricked my phone. Through TWRP, I have tried flashing the stock firmware via sideload and via loading the zip onto the deceive without success. Ultimately, I tried loading a custom ROM (EpsilonProject v3.1) which is working well, except that I have no network connectivity. I've tried almost everything but keep running into the same problem when I try to manually flash the stock firmware:
bootloader variable not supported
I've tried using the help offered in the forums to locate the file that I supposedly need to rename in the /system folder, but that file does not exist.
Any other ideas? I'm not tied to fixing this, as I've extended the life of my phone by about a year as it is. But my Moto X (2013) was working great until the forced OTA effed it. I mean, how many people actually get three years out of their smartphone nowadays? :/
Thanks for the help!
