Never mind i found the answer... Need Nokia own cable / expensive cable to work.. cannot use cheap cable any more

It works for me and I'm using the short USB C cable that came with the Nexus 6P.

Working for me, using cheap 1,5 m cable from DX.com

Philips AS140 will not charge devie while docked

Heads up the Philips AS140 sound dock will not charge the Nexus 7 while docked. I called their tech support and they said that I had a faulty dock and they shipped me a brand new one. I updated the firmware on the replacement sounddock when it arrived and connected my Nexus 7 to the dock.... Still no charge while connected. Bluetooth functionality work great.
I have the same issue with my phillips dock. No idea what the cause is as to why it won't charge the Nexus 7 but it's frustrating
At a guess the socket/adaptor is not configured for high power devices like tablets that need the data pins to be shorted.
Same issue
Have the same issue with Samsung Note 4. My samsung Note 3 charges just fine, but the Note 4 wont ever recognize it. I read on another post that the Note 4 uses 2.4 amps and the Note 3 used 2.1 amps... So maybe it just isnt the right juice for it to recognize it, but it seems like it should at least recognize that its trying to put juice in it.

[Q] usb otg (host) help?: bad unit or doing something wrong?

Hello. Had my note 4 since release and just now trying to use usb host / otg and having no luck. Absolutely no devices are working on my note 4. Tried the otg adapter on my nexus 10 and its fine so unless there is a special adapter needed for the note 4 the otg cable is not the problem. I have tried a xbox controller a mous and a thumb drive and nothing not even led lights showing activation.
So any advice or is my usb port bad? Been using vanilla android for a while (nexus devices) is there a setting im not use to maybe?
solved
It appears my motorola otg is not compatable with the note 4. Tried a samsung otg and all works. Guess not all cables are equal?
No problem here. Using my old otg cable from my Note 2

Maybe cause its samsung otg? Dunno either way i know my motorola otg (from xoom) does not work on my note but works on all my vanilla nexus devices. Either way got it working
my patriot stealth xt 64gb works perfect on my note4.

Android Auto and USB Type C

What are peoples thoughts on the compatibility of new phones with USB Type C and aftermarket head units such as Pioneer? Would it be as simple as getting a new USB Type C wire that plugs into the USB on the head unit? Or do you think it will bork the whole system and we'll have to wait for neither Google or Pioneer to issue and update?
USB-C is fully backwards compatible, because of this I don't foresee any issues?

It should work just fine. You could probably just get a cable like this one and call it a day:
https://usb.brando.com/usb-3-1-type-c-male-to-usb-3-0-a-male-cable_p12379c0032d015.html
Using it fine here (Nexus 6p, USB C to USB A cable, pioneer AVH-X8700bt).

I've got a 6P (stock but rooted) and an 8100NEX. It works just fine. It's a USB 3.1 -> USB-C cable and I've had not one issue.
I've also got a nexus 6p stock 6.0.1 using a pioneer AVIC-F77DAB with no issues. I did have an issue at the start using an aftermarket USB-C cable I purchased of ebay but once I switch the cable out to the one I got with the phone it works like a dream

On a related note, it would be nice if the unit supported Quick Charge

I've got a Pioneer 8100NEX and it works fine with the USB-A -> USB-C cable I bought. I've had no issues and it does the "Rapidly Charging" thing. I would assume all of the NEX series do if the 8100 does.
:good:
Ah, thats good to know! I hope the new JBL unit does that too

Tips for car charger

hey folks, i'm looking for a good (preferably the best) car charger, any tip? thanks
This one works really well. Been using for 6 months USB C Quick Charge 3.0 AUKEY Car Charger with Dual AiPower Ports for LG G5, Galaxy S7/S6/Edge, Nexus 6P/5X & Other USB-C Devices | Qualcomm Certified https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018TGGH4E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2GsxxbY1HY1FF

I agree with that one. Same time of use with it and it's been good. Only thing is it is a bit on the long side and some people complain it pops out of there port. I haven't had that happen to me. Also, with the 5X, no matter the charger, you'll get throttling in charging when using turn-by-turn with the screen one and playing music. It slows down and might not charge at all. I'm able to point 1 or 2 of my AC vents at it to keep it cool and it helps.

Visinc sell a more compact USB C car charger, if you don't want something as bulky as Aukey's. I've had it for six months and it's been working well so far.

I have the Avin Avant-4 with their WCPAA dongle. It connects my Samsung with Android Auto through USB and wirelessly or with USB for my wife's iPhone through Apple Car Play.
