getting ready to buy a deep sea blue note 8 from best buy unlocked version. Just wondering how quickly they get the OTA updates. Do carriers push them out first before the unlocked models? also if I buy the unlocked and flash the carrier firmware via "carrier flash thread" will my device receive the OTA updates from the carrier or do they need to be side loaded?
I purchased the unlocked model and it's still on the August security patches and have not received a single update since I bought it in early September.
Pretty sure the carrier versions are also on the August security patch.

I got an update on my unlocked Note 8 about a week or so ago, brought me to a December 1 patch level.
Still on November security patch.. No latest update yet.
Are you guys with ATT?
With no info about the update... I am not sure if I want to update it lol

Since it is unlocked, U1, the update came from Samsung. not att. It was a minor security patch that brought security up to the December patch.

Thanks for telling them where the updates come from for the unlocked devices.
Carrier branded phones will get updated from that said carrier ok.

That is what I was thinking until if you check the bottom portion of my screen shot it states ATT in the URL...
is this normal?

It’s unlocked etc showing V10b-HKG-XX software version but has 1 December 2018 security patch..will this v40 receive ota updates?..security patch seems old?

Latest patch I have is 1 February. I think, typically, the wireless carrier is the one who releases an update, not the manufacturer. Your phone seems unaffiliated with OE ROM.

Mine is the same December 2018 patch..but as it’s open version it is down to LG I guess..
Supposedly, Pie is dropping sometime this quarter for our '40s.

the same problem i bought europe version Lg V40 but have rom from Hong Kong (soft. ver.: V10b-HKG-xx) and security patch from 1th December. Is some possibility to flash an European rom, e.g. DEC region with czech language (can already be downloaded with android Pie).

Same here now one has to wonder how long the wait will be
I am assuming that Samsung does the monthly security updates...
It's monthly but it is usually not released till mid month each month. I have S9+ and updates I'm receiving are released closer to the end month.

On Sprint fw I had Sept1, after flashing U1 latest is Aug1 as of now.
