Hi guys, I'm wondering if someone else is having this issue.
I have an S10+, navigation with gestures activated and no indicators.
The thing is when I use Gboard and I type the buttons on the bottom row (like the , for example) I get double taps. Only if I type them from the bottom of the button.
So I get ,, instead of , or two spaces instead of one. It's annoying..
I haven't detected this issue with any other app.
I have not tried gboard or swift in years because you cannot get rid of the toolbar. I only like letters and numbers when typing and dont use emoji's. Do either of them support to hide the toolbar yet and look like this?

I use the Google keyboard and I tried the stock gestures, ended up going with fluid navigation gestures instead. Works much better in my opinion.

If by "toolbar" you mean this (picture 1) then yes, it can be removed (picture 2). Just turn off "Show suggestion strip" in the menu (picture 3). You can also disable the Emojis from gboard's settings as well.
Am I the only one with this issue? Can someone try Gboard with no nav bar and no hints and see if this happens?
I'm using google zhuying keyboard, which is like the older version of gboard for taiwanese people.
I don't see any problems.
I would suggest trying a different keyboard and if it happens
It only happens with Gboard. But I like Gboard, this is the only issue I have with it.
Just figured out this also happens with SwiftKey. No one else is having this?

Try fluid navigation gestures. I use Google keyboard and FNG without any issues.
I'm using SwiftKey beta and creating an empty space under the keyboard. It was the only solution.

Does your homescreen rotate? I thought they fixed that in 4.1??? The homescreen on my N7 rotates. Why doesn't it rotate on the X?

Do you have "Auto-rotate screen" checked in the display options?

yes. everything else rotates fine. just the homescreen/app drawer. this was a known miss for several versions, which I thought was remedied.

That is a feature only for tablets. Quite frankly, it would be annoying on phones, but if you want it, Nova launcher.
Download an alternate launcher such as Nova or Apex and you can enable auto rotate on the home screen launcher.

dammit. i hate launchers. i never got the draw. even when i was a victim of the heavy-hand of Blur, launchers never did it for me. i suppose the old method of modifying a parameter of a file requires root. can't really remember the technical details.
anyway, with the USB on the bottom and the headphones on the top, not having a homescreen (or potentially even the active notifications screen) that rotates kind of sucks.
EDIT: that's right... edit the build.prop file, add the line:
launcher.force_enable_rotation=true

I've been trying to figure this out too, but all I want to rotate is the active display.
do you think something like "active display.force_enable_rotation=true" would work?
Hate launchers? Get my xperia launcher & fix.
I really like the GEL. my only gripe is the lack of rotation on the active display and the persistent google search bar.
I've been trying to use the handwriting feature next to the space on the keyboard with the T. I am able to write in the space provided however nothing happens when I write in that space. Is this an issue for anyone else?

I have the same issue on a stock T-mobile note 5
It used to work for me and I think it stopped after the last update.
I use the alternative option by hovering over the text field with the S pen input icon and that way works.

I do use that method now, since Direct Input works. Is there a way to prevent the keyboard from coming up all the time? That's the frustrating part, the phone keeps pushing this keyboard at me and it doesn't work. I can draw on it, but it doesn't trigger any recognition.
I had to add the input language to my phone for keyboard handwriting to work. Even though the keyboard had English(US) as an input language I still had to download it for handwriting recognition.
I went through direct input window and tap held the language button until the options page popped up and downloaded english(us) for that. Then both handwriting methods worked for me.
Is there a way or am I searching it wrong to put the launcher on the left side when in landscape mode? Looking for an app mod or anything? I'm not sure where else to ask this question and I didn't see it while searching.
What do you mean launcher? Launcher is all your home screens and app drawer.. Did you mean dock?
He means nav bar...
Never seen one myself, but perhaps try pie controls? Not the same but let's you swipe you nav controls onto the screen from top/bott/left/right depending om settings.
Again, not directly what you ask for but will let you operate nav buttons with that left hand.
Easiest would be to lookup lmt pie controls 2.5 here on xda, or Google and look for the xda link. You will need root.
Oh, I forgot about nav bars. I've used pie for so long, I forget nav bars even exist. Nasty, screen real-estate grabbing, pointless buttons of crap
Sorry guys im an idiot... II did mean the dock/nav bar where your app launcher and such are. Pie is great but not really what im looking for.

Sorry, dock and nav bar are 2 different things.. Which one do you mean? Can you screen shot?
..or do you mean both?

Ok that is dock.
Again, this might not be something you want but I remove my dock and use glovebox to swipe in from the left.. It's always left though even in portrait.. Then it auto hides.
I'm not aware of a mod to change the dock in stock launcher. I'm not aware of any 3rd party launcher that does it. Can't see a setting on nova.
Hmm good stuff, I wonder if there would be a way to make it persistent but that just might do.
Turn your phone in the opposite direction so the volume/power buttons point down?
I noticed that in landscape mode, bringing up the dock behaves as if the phone has capacitive nav nav keys instead of the onscreen softkeys. Not the most clear photo but on the middle icon the overlap can be seen.
Anyone else got this going on or is there some setting that I'm missing?

Mine doesn't do that.
Reset Nova settings, confirm it works then redo your settings.
You must have edited your padding settings, although just checked and I couldn't replicate. So many settings in Nova so must be something you did.
I'll check it out, I actually restored settings from a U11 now that I think of it lol. That does have capacitive keys...
Can't believe this is the kind if noob mistake I'd make having been here since touch pro 1 -_-

Hm still doing it. Lemme clarify that if I already have the dock out and then rotate,it doesn't do this. It only does it if I have toggle dock mapped to a swipe and I use the gesture to toggle the dock in landscape.

Tested and can confirm that specific "use case" does produce output as per your screenshot.
A small oversight/quirk - notify Nova and they will fix it.
For now, simply rotate back to portrait then back to landscape.
I've been using the Mate 20 for the past 24hours, being first time Huawei/EMUI user, there are some weird experiences going on.
1. Bug - App switcher:
Open recent apps, I'm not able to switch apps by clicking the partially visible adjacent apps (will go to home screen)
The only way to switch apps is by scrolling to the desired app and make sure it shows at the middle of the screen, then click it.
2. Navigation Bar Experience - EMUI? Android 9? :
The navigation keys' positioning is kinda bad. The icons are too packed at the middle of the screen, instead they should be placed more evenly, and the clickable areas should be widen. (I drawn an image below to better explain this)
I'm not sure this is an EMUI thing or Android Pie thing? How to make a suggestion to Huawei?

This is not solution
I agree, the current nav button setup is stupid.
Hope they fix this issue. Until then I'm using Fluidng.

It's controlled by Huawei, btw it's shifted like that because there's a "rotate" button that appears on the nav bar when you tilt your phone and auto rotate is off, you can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWOp1b-5thQ

I see. But that is rarely used. It shouldn't affect the main navigation keys that are the basic function of a phone.
