Hi, wondering if anyone has tried connecting their phone to an external dac? I tried my s10e for the first time to today with my Topping Dx7s however it features popping noises along with the audio. This doesnt seem to happen with my previous phone, so the dac/amp is working fine.
Things I have tried:
disabling wifi
Connecting to usb hub (powered)
Selecting - charge phone only under usb mode in developer options.
Clicking on usb notifcation and trying to select phone usb control (as oppose to usb device control) but comes up with error message changing host failed.
I wonder if it is occuring because the phone is trying to supply power via usb?

Seems to be a known issue. Something to do with the firmware.
I'm having the same problems also when using usb audio out.
Any luck on your end in resolving this issue?

Hello, I'm having an issue with my phone... it freezes and I have to remove the battery to make it reboot whenever I disconnect a USB mouse or keyboard. Moreover I'm unable to use a usb hub (which I know is possible with this phone) that would allow me to connect both together, I was planning to use them simultaneously to take notes but it's unreliable with the phone freezing, and when i use the hub the mouse powers on for2 secs, the led turns on but then turns off and the pointer doesn't appear at all, same with the keyboard (when connected into the hub) by the way my usb hub is exactly this one [well I did try to post a youtube video showing it working, unfortunatelly this is my first post= no right] , but I tried two other hubs with no result , I'm using the original Samsung host cable
kernel: Siyah 2.6.9
tried it with roms: stock, checkrom v 6, latest baptista foxhound
I used both cable and wireless mouse/keayboard (with receiver plugged into usb host, not bluetooth) but I could never get more than one device working and once i disconnect it the phone freezes.
I would be grateful for any advice.
Dear all
I have interesting issue. I was using OTG flawlessly (mount usb memory with micro USB plug, or also regular rush with OTG adapter).
Suddenly that stopped working.
I didn't get any update or change any system settings.
Just I was trying to connect my phone to my car via android auto. I was succeeded and for my second trial I couldn't connect to car.
Then I ve realaized otg also not working. I'm not sure this 2 issue is relevant but it seems so.
When I plug USB to phone, I can see "usb connector connected" on status bar and few seconds later it dissappear and does not mount usb disk.
Do you have any idea what is the reason and how can I fix it?
I'm using stock room (without root) 6.0.1
Thabks for any help in advance.
So I seem to have a very weird issue with the USB connection on my Sony Xperia XZ2 running Android 8.0.0 with the build version 51.1.A.11.51. It refuses to connect or charge on almost any computer. The phone doesn't seem to recognize that it's connected to a computer. The computer doesn't see that my phone is connected either. I tried different USB ports, different computers, and different cables and they all won't connect to the phone. The exception is my laptop, which has a dedicated fast-charging port. When I connect my phone to that port, the phone charges, but it doesn't recognize that it's connected to my laptop and the laptop doesn't see a device connected either. Enabling ADB on my phone doesn't seem to do anything.
The strange thing is that almost all other USB functionality works fine on my phone. The phone charges fine from both a normal power brick and a fast charging brick. Both analog and digital based audio adapter dongles works perfectly fine too. USB based Android Auto does not seem to work, but it still charges the phone when I connect my phone to the car.
I also noticed that if I plug my phone into a computer while the phone is off, it would briefly wake up to the Sony logo and have the charging light come on for a few seconds until the screen changes to the battery percentage. Booting up my phone while plugged in doesn't seem to fix the issue.
The bootloader is locked and it has the stock recovery, so I don't think fastboot works (but I'm willing to try if it fixes the issue).
I've already tried spraying electrical contact cleaner into the USB port and also tried cleaning the port with a small plastic zip tie. I don't know how long my phone has been like that since it's been over a month since I last connected it to my computer. I don't know anything else I could do besides resetting the firmware, doing a firmware update, or sending in my phone to Sony for repairs. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm willing to try it.

Upgrade to the newest stock version.
I recently got my USB-C port replaced by Razer because it was charging right and it out of nowhere stop syncing to Android auto. Now it charges fine but my car still won't recognize the phone, it will for a sec and then it disconnects. Also when I plug my earphones in, the audio still plays through the speakers, in option pops up to change the USB preference but it won't do it.

One thing is that some USB-C headphones don't have a AMP/DAC built-in. This is a common problem with Razer Phone 2 users, as it doesn't have one inside. So, if your headphone adapter or USB-C headphones don't have one built-in it won't work. 2, seems like Android Auto doesn't like some USB cables. Try some troubleshooting from at the "My Android Auto app isn't working" page on the Android Auto help page.
I was experiencing relatively the same thing. I tried cleaning and tightening the usb-c port on my phone. Didn't help. So I tried cleaning out the usb-c charging cable, the end that plugs into the phone. Problem solved. It works fine now, for the most part. Still will disconnect from Android Auto if I move the phone around to bunch. Or put the cable in a bind near the end that plugs into the phone.

Android auto and the adapter for the earphones used to work fine, it just happened out of nowhere before way before I sent the phone to get fixed like 2 weeks ago, the problems started last year but i think there was an update of some sort. It still won't connect, even when using the original adapter and my pc doesn't even pick up that the phone is even connected, it will just charge. I've already check the device manager to see if it was a bad driver but nothing. no matter what device i connect, it will just say "Charging connected device via USB". ive Already tried USB debugging, disable USB audio routing, cleaning it, and apps to manually control it.
Hi Guys,
I'm having problems with A71 (SM-A715F/DS) connecting to car USB, I'm getting "the connected device is not supported" msg on the phone while connecting to my car USB port. I've tried several USB cables, and also tried another mobile phone (S20) which connects to my car with no issues. Someone suggested to check android auto battery settings to be changes to unrestricted but that doesn't help, in any case I don't think AA is the issue here as I'm not even getting to AA and phone is not charging when I try to connect it. Did anyone stumbled upon similar issues with A71 by any chance? TIA.
I've read lots of issues regarding A71's USB-C port. It's a very common failure in this device, so there's a good chance you are experiencing a faulty port.
Thanks for the reply, yeah I suspect new phone is in order and it's not something would be easy to fix, curious tho that its charging and operating well and never had any issues connecting it to my PC or laptop etc. There's always a first time I suppose...
