I am looking for a fast wireless car charging dock. I recently purchased this http://tinyurl.com/zowq69q but it does not fast wireless charge my Verizon S7 Edge. I found that while using apps like Waze when the GPS is on the battery was still draining and the phone got very hot.
Looking to see if anyone has had any luck getting fast wireless charging to work with a car dock and the S7.
How are you powering it? I believe you'll need something like options below:

AFAIK, that should do it...maybe you need to confirm fast charging status via a method where you measure he actual charging level.

The only way to accurately read the input rate into the wireless charger is with a USB multimeter. The S7/S7E will lost about 30-50% of the input current the moment you turn the display on regardless of the charging method. In this case the input should be ~9V/2A or 12V/1.5A (both 18W) in theory. If the charger was pulling via 5V instead there would be a lot more heat, and it might cause some issues if the cable has a higher resistance.

I was thinking of trying different cables.
I was using these cables because I wanted something longer:

It does say they are rated for QC 2.0 and up to 2.5A so I am not sure.

They do work for QC 2.0, I have a ton of them that I use daily. The 6ft ones are good for that extra reach on my nightstand
So, does S7E benefit from Quickcharge 3.0? I know smartphone and tablet manufacturers need to implement the specific circuitry required to make full use of the fastest charging speeds available.

I've thought so. Then how silly of Samsung not to implement it. Since LG's G5, for example, also uses the latest Snapdragon 820 processor and supports Quick Charge 3.0.

It's still quite fast regardless of it being an 'old' standard. Maybe there will be a wya to enable it via root unless there's a hardware controller that is holding it back.
Yes, but what i've gathered 3.0 is more of efficiency over speed. Hopefully, an update would do the trick. Not unless, like you said, it's about a hardware thing...

It is if there's support for that standard. It allows you to ste up/down voltage more granularly so that's why
So I tried the original cable that came with the phone and still the battery drops, even with the screen on and GPS off. I may just have a defective unit. I did browse through some of the reviews on Amazon and it seems there was mixed results with the S7, some people were also having issues with fast charge not working.
According to the first note on the item:

The only reason why the American version of this handset does not support 3.0 is because the Exynos international equivalent does not support 3.0 so rather than create two sets of charges Samsung decided to make 2.0 the standard and not make the international handset owners feel jealous or a certain kind of way. Remember it's a feature offered by Qualcomm and not Exynos chips.

Well I did buy a QC 2.0 adapter, but maybe it only works with their adapter. I figured any QC 2.0/3.0 adapter would work.

Can you post pics of the back of the charger? I see it has a ball mount but I'd like to see if that might be removable and Imight be amps compatible or modified for my existing mount

After messing around with the placement of the phone on the charger it seems to now be working. I was able to run waze, bluetooth and stream audio and the battery climbed and held at 100%. Also I noticed the phone did not get as hot. You have to get the phone in just the right place with this charger it seems. I have an older regular wireless charger on my night stand and do no have any issues.

The chargers just being dumb and will provide power output whenever a circuit is completed.
Even the other side doesnt told it to, like a dog bite into the cable.
Or the other side is a usb power host too and doesnt told it to provide output [this is BAD], just don't try it.
What you need to know is don't connect it to others usb power host.
Then it should be fine. Meanwhile, we waited for Google's proper response or recall.

That's the way it was designed, but it isn't the charger that is controlling that. The phone is the one controlling how much current it pulls, subject to what the charger conveys it can handle or some default rules if that information is not explicitly available.
I have to say that my Nexus 5X charger is dead because the fabric problems with it

I know that the Mi 9 comes with wireless charging but I have read and seen on some YouTube reviews that claim that Xiaomi is using a proprietary induction charging system. So the question is can our Mi 9 use a regular Qi wireless charger? My whole family use wireless chargers, so it is an important feature for me. I really don't care how much longer it takes to charge if we use regular Qi chargers, just having it supported is good enough.
Hopefully someone who already has the device can shed some light on this. I was thinking of waiting for the OnePlus 7, but thankfully it's CEO stated that the latest version will still not come with Qi charging functionality... such a shame.

Yes it does. I have a random one off amazon and whilst it's not quick charge 4, it charges it wirelessly (albeit slower) nonetheless

I think it's only for the new 20 watt wireless fast charge that you will need the proprietary charger,It is QI compatible so I believe it works with all QI chargers as well,but slower

I am quite sure others have had this thought/question cross their mind.
Is the fast charging on these xiaomi phones or any other phone that supports fast charging based on a code that detects what charger and voltage and then applies the charge or is it strictly hardware related? for example
I put my xiaomi 67w charger in my mi 11 ultra its starts charging and switches on fast charge.
I put another fast charger in my Xiaomi mi 11 ultra and no fast charge?
question is, is there a code in the software of the phone that detects a certain kind of frequency entering, which then it unlocks the fast charge rate or function that, a xiaomi charger gives that, that another fast charger might not be giving hence it charges on standard even thought it might be exactly 67w or similar?
if its code related, can this code be found and altered? so those with lets say with previous phones that had fast charge capability and have chargers laying around can be utilised?

It was written somewhere that mi 11 ultra fast charge only activates when it is on. Basically A Xiaomi software is doing trick. So, it can restrict to certain chargers when phone is on. Fast charging doesn't work when phone is off.

No. Even cable matters for these chargers, like OnePlus. It would be unsafe, risky to mess with this.

I tried on 3 different wireless charger same result, thn had a word with Google customer care and they said it's a on going problem with many devices and their tech team is looking into it.
wireless chargers I tried are from brands spigen, unigen, baseus
My P7 just came in and tested it on my three chargers. ALL WORK flawlessly.
Xiaomi 25W. Jootech 15W and another 5/10W unbranded cheap charger.
Soo...either you have a crap case on your device stopping it from charging, or your pixel is defective.

Hey I am from India so tried 4-5 wireless charger available here but none of thm I found working, only one charger I found I shows battery percentage when I keep my phone on it but it doesn't also charge my phone.
But I tried wireless charging other device with my Pixel 7 using battery share option and those able to get charge from my Pixel 7 so this means wireless charging is working fine for my Pixel 7, if I am not wrong.
So I need to get an proper wireless charger, am I correct?
I had a word with customer care for Pixel and they said any Qi enabled charger will work with Pixel 7 but all the wireless charger I tried support Qi enabled devices but thn also no luck.
Any specific charger I need to look for other than Pixel wireless charker it's too costly in India.

Now on my THIRD Pixel 7. What a pile of garbage this phone is. Couldn't get wireless charging working and they replaced it. Now I'm back to not receiving some calls. I never had any problems like this with Samsung . . .

Something is wrong with your device or methods. Are you swapping your Note 3 sim with the Pixel 7 or not registering it correctly with the network? Your frustration is palpable and maybe it's time to just go back to Sammy and cut your losses. Either that or put aside the Note 3 and focus on getting the setup for the P7 working as most of us here have done. The device is not a piece of garbage as you state so start over again with a reset and working sim and ask questions from that standpoint.

Well there have been instances of faulty hardware so perhaps an RMA? Or did you do that already? Oh I just looked and you're on your third device. It would help if we knew more about your setup. Like carrier, wireless charger not working, type of sim (physical or eSim) maybe even country you're in. I would start from scratch and factory reset with a brand new physical sim from the carrier, put the sucker in when prompted and connect to the network. Don't restore anything yet even though it's a pain to reset everything back up. Just make sure it works and perhaps go to a store like Best Buy and test out the Google wireless charger. If you can make and receive calls and texts, get data and charge wireless then go from there. Failing any of those simple things would require another RMA. It's really a nice device so I hope you get it figured out.
