Hello all,
I got my phone when they first came out on Jan 5th and have just ran into my first issue. It seems that the power button has become really hard to press (like it is lower than it used to be). I have to press down just right to get it to register. I know that others have been having power button issues and was wondering if anyone has ran into this? Any suggestions on actions to take? What were others peoples power button issues?
Thanks
Yea, I started to use No lock from the market its free. With this program you can use the trackball to unlock you phone or bring it from sleep mode you will not have to use the power button as often.
Hope this helps
Is your button hard to press or just not registering?
Sometimes I would have to push it more then once. So I don't believe its really hard to push but, more so just not registering all the time.
It's not to often I had that problem. but, I did notice you have to use the button alot so I didn't want to wear it down.
Mine used to be like that and then eventually it became extremely hard to press. Practically took 10-15 tries using force to get it to turn on. I sent it back to HTC and now it's more responsive than when I first got it. Took about 4 days total.
Leo Laport's nexus's power button broke. Just send it back.
It could be just dust under the power button. I just took off the back cover and blew at the space under the power button. It's working every time now. Worth a shot before you send it in anways.
I have the same issue, hard to press and sometimes not registering at all.
Unfortunately trackball wake is not available for froyo yet. This would be a fine workaround for me.
I was having problems with the power button not working well, but it seems to be much better under the new FRF72 Froyo build.

+1 on the excellent suggestion.
The rear battery cover is integral to the power button assembly. It keeps it aligned on the fore aft axis. So dust and crap therein seems to restrict it at times. If you have power button issues, at very least remove the battery cover to see if releasing the friction it creates improves things. The power button becomes somewhat wobbly and loose with the rear cover off.
Anyone having issues with power button being stuck? When I press the power button, it often gets stuck and phone reboots because of it. It's happened over 15 times today... It's getting quite annoying. I didn't spill anything or drop the phone, the power button just sticks and I have to keep pressing to get it unstuck... The volume buttons are fine though.

No problem here. If it were me, I would get the device replaced.
Hmmm. Yea. I'm gonna call them tomorrow. Still debating whether to return it or exchange it... I've been a little disappointed with battery life. Hmmm..
I am also having issues with my power button. It used to click when pressed like the volume buttons. Now I feel no click action at all. It still powers on the phone and screen but I feel that it is only going to get worse. makes me worried. No body else having this issue?
Not me, at least
The volume buttons on my Nexus 4 do the same thing although it happened much later in its life. If you can I would advise getting it replaced because its very annoying to say the least.
Mine just started this.
Last night I noticed my screen wasn't turning off after pressing the power button. All it would do was act like I was holding the power button with the intention of turning the phone off. one time it actually did turn off. This sucks. I'll be going by the Verizon store next time it happens. (because the phone is behaving completely normal right now)

has anyone found a solution to this?
i just received this phone as a motocare replacement for one with a cracked screen. it feels like they sent me a refurbished one someone spilled soda on. i kinda feel like a jerk sending it right back, but the constant resetting sure is annoying! i'm ready to send the phone in, but would much prefer to fix it myself if there's a way to do it. any way to fix it?
edit: nevermind. i sent it back. they sent it like this, they can deal with it. i'm afraid if i mess with it, i'll kill the warranty. still 100% love the phone and can't wait to get it back!!
I've had my Droid Turbo for about three weeks and am noticing the volume rocker seems to be a bit cockeyed. It looks like the volume up button is always being pressed, which is strange. See the attached photo for what I mean. Has anyone else seen this?
Note: It is working fine, though seems a tiny bit loose.

The sim card is hiding under the volume rocker, the above suggestion to pull it out and reset is a good bet.
Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it but it's still in the same position.
I'm in the exact same boat. Reinstalling seemed to help a little bit, but the volume up is always slightly more depressed. Volume up down functionality works, but it is very annoying.
Mine has the same issue, but with the volume down.
Luckily it seems that if it ever gets too bad that the fix would be simple. Just replace the volume rocker instead of replacing the whole phone.
I have the same issue with the volume rocker. It is pressed in more at the top. Is there any way to fix it? Taking out the sim tray and pressing it in does not fix it. I am worrying putting on a case will make changing volume difficult.
maybe a spring is missing in the tray arm
When I pulled out the sim tray, I noticed one spring more pressed in than the other. This causes one end of the rocker to be more popped out.
Walk in to a Verizon store, go to the droid display, pull that one out and put your in... Done!
I believe this is an issue with the ballistic nylon in blue version. When I went to BB to exchange my phone I saw some phones that have the same issue.
I can live with the cockeye, my up volume is a pain. It is very difficult to make it work. I can turn it down with no problem.
I know this thread is old but I just bought one and have noticed the same thing. Both buttons still work perfectly fine but I am a little sceptic. Has anyone ever had this break one of the buttons?
Hey guys
Just wanted to know if there is any way I could fix the power button to make it click. I picked up a Nexus 6 about a month ago used. The power button has no click to it,but I thought that was normal. But just today, I thought I would read into it because I noticed the volume buttons where clickey(never really use them) and that the power button should be too. How or can I fix the power button?
Thanks
hmm the power buttons works but there is no click?
Replace the power button/volume rocker flex cable it's all one unit. Easy to replace.

Hahaa. For you. I'm not opening my ****. If it works don't need no click.
It will fail soon enough.
I'm a technician. When these types of buttons lose the click, they fail soon after.

That's right. It feels terrible to press, plus some times when I press the power it doesn't turn on and I'm not sure if I pressed it hard enough....so usually I press very hard to make sure I don't have to press again. 90% of the time it comes right on.

Well, I did already take of the back to put on a real leather slickwrap skin(with replacement back) and the stock back was really on there(ripped off a piece of the plastic that stuck to the back cover), but I managed to get it off. Sucky part is, I'd have to rip it back off again and I'm not sure it will stick as well if I do that.
I just need to find the part I guess. I do think that eventually it might stop working.
pretty sure you can use a hair dryer or heat gun and get the back cover off rather easily, should be able to reapply it back again. here is a link to the power and volume buttons.

The Note 5 By Far Is Kind Off the Best Phone Ive Used... But Ive Recently Started Having problems With The Volume Button... Need Help With It... Any Fixes... Sometimes My Lock Button doesnt Function... It seems to hold itself down... And so does the Volume Down button... Help Out Please...
I have a two week old Note 5 (SM-N9208) and I'm experiencing this very same thing! All three side buttons have quickly lost their click-yness and are no longer tactile. The volume down button in particular often gets stuck in a depressed mode and I need to give it a few pushes to free it up.
Is this normal? Anyone else experiencing this? Very close to returning it to where I got it to have this problem looked at. Thanks!
Note 5 volume button issue
bought last week, experiencing the same issue.:crying:
Got the same problem on my Note 4.
I have the same issue with my note 5. The power button was not working perfectly since the beginning but then it started working fine somehow. Now the volume down button is having the issue.
So pissed at this issue.
Also, i am having issues with wireless charging.
Sent from my SM-N9208 using Tapatalk
I turned my note 5 off and used a qtip and rubbing alcohol to swab all the side buttons and worked them in and out the best I could then gave it some drying time and turned it back on and it has helped all 3 keys.
Yeah sometimes I have the very same problem then other days the keys are fine. Very annoying in my mind.
Same issue here, my down volume and my power button keys are not clicky like before, i tried the Qtip and alcohol and it works a lil bit.
i have same problem.
It sucks 'coz it was fine a few days ago, got it around January-ish.
For those who have the same problem, do you guys happend to have a wrap(e.g. slickwrap, dbrand) + case on your phones?
I'm having same issue too. I'm having problems listening to music on wired or Bluetooth. The volume cuts out tben comes back on. Anyone have this problem?

I'm having this issue right now with the volume down button, I inmediatly searched on google and here I am, lol. The button works but makes a weird click and doesn't feel like it should. I have a Skinomi TechSkin in the back of the phone since 3 weeks ago and I was using a Verus case without any problem but today I'm using a Spigen Ultra Hybrid Clear Case and now I'm having this issue.
rubbing alcohol and a q tip will temporarily fix your problem.
IT will last for about a week, then the clicky clicky sound will be gone and the button will stick again.
For a permanent solution you need to find watch makers oil and use that instead of alcohol.... the alcohol dries up to quick...
have fun...
Okay guys, I have a quick fix. My volume down key was stuck.
Gunna sound like a troll here but I promise this works. Just looked everywhere for a fix and found nothing (aside from disassembling my frigging Note5).
!TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I'm not sure why this just worked for me.. but place your lips over the key that is sticking, gather a SMALL amount of spit over the key and push the spit forward with pressure. Then click the key 10 or so times and boom. Clicky keys again :-]
It worked for me, I hope it works for you.
Worked for me that spit pressure trick. Lol

Omg this worked for me also! Thanks!
My issue may have been not the typical issue - but I had this problem after I dropped my phone and the bottom volume rocker hit a piece of metal dead on. The button expanded ever so slightly and it would get stuck depressed. I ended up having to get a pair of tweezers to pull it back out, but every time I pushed it back in it would get stuck. At my wits end, I finally tried this:
Lay the phone down on its face
pull the button out as far as it can get
find a good flathead screwdriver (newer one that is not worn - good edges)
place the flathead screwdriver on the side of the button (the narrow side that runs at a 90% angle from the side of the phone, not the face of the button)
lightly whack the screwdriver with a hammer
What this did was expand the soft metal just enough to allow room for the button to move freely back and forth.
I thought I was screwed, but this little trick got my volume button working again (after I had tried other methods and scratched the area up a bit).
Note: This was a desperation move on my part, not recommended if you think your volume or power rockers/buttons are just dirty and sticky - mine was actual soft metal issue.
