Since everyone is unlocking their bootloaders now, should i just wait a little bit for more development or?
Coming from rooting Samsungs, this seems all confusing and difficult for me.

Up to you. I'd at least buy the code now if you're thinking about doing it in the future, as they might become unavailable again.
If you do decide to unlock it and are worried about voiding the warranty or whatever... you can always just flash a firmware via USB method. This automatically relocks the bootloader and no one will know it was ever unlocked. I've tested this myself.

I have already unlocked my phone today.
Has anyone successfully installed TWRP?
FH are doing codes for USD$20 at the moment. Mine took less than a minute to arrive.
There still some stupid people paying for unlock code and the guy above is giving it for free.

... hey guys please sign that petition. Htc's ceo lied and said no more locked bootloaders back in may well the vivid has a locked bootloader. Lets please support our android brothers http://www.groubal.com/htc-vivid-has-locked-bootloader-contrary-to-statements-by-the-company/#sign
I signed it. Seems like it needs quite a few more signatures though.
Didn't they come back and say that the boot loaders would be locked but would provide tools to unlock after you agree to void warranty online? (Similar to what Moto is doing)

yes. and if you own a RAIDER, which is the version of the vivid for every other country but ours, you can unlock it from htcdev.com. the vivid on AT&T is specifically locked down and cannot be unlocked by using their unlocking tool.
This is specific to the AT&T Vivid, and not specific to the HTC Holiday/Raider

to expand on this a little more, the issue stems from the fact that the Raider IS unlockable and the vivid is not. when HTC was asked about it, they said AT&T was to blame, when AT&T was confronted, they said its HTC's decision to lock the bootloader. we are being lied to by someone, and at this point, i wouldnt be surprised if it was both companies lying to us. the bs needs to stop and they need to realize that we are customers, we purchase a device, and we want to be in control of that device. if i wanted someone else to control what i do with my device, i would get an iphone.
Wow that's total bullpoop. So much potential in that phone. Good luck

the bootloader unlock tool came about because of one of these petitions. if i lived in canada, i would have an unlocked bootloader right now because of the petition that caused the htcdev site to exist.
And the unlock of the motorola atrix bootloader came out shortly after one of these was started and had a few thousand signatures.
Not saying these were the sole cause but I'm sure it was at least a factor that helped push the company to unlocking.

The bootloader unlock for the Atrix came to us because someone gave it to us, not because of a measly petition.

I didn't say it did. But it gave statistics to how people felt about it. Specifically over 11,000 signatures. And it got the issue put in front of the media.
http://www.groubal.com/motorola-lockedencrypted-bootloader-policy/
Why do you think motorola released unlocked bootloaders? Positive public opinion = new customers. That's the whole point of these petitions.
Given to us? *Motorola's* update to gingerbread for the Atrix unlocked all the bootloaders. The alternate unlock method made it so you can flash previous sbf's, and that was made possible from the leaked build of gingerbread *motorola* had made.

I don't know if the petition will work, but didn't a good number of people pushed Samsung to update the captivate to Froyo and both companies blamed each other in press statements and soon it was updated?
BTW, I signed

A company listening to their customers?
Rare in this age. Good for people with HTC phones and good for HTC for listening to user feedback of their product.
Hi everyone!
I am wondering if there is still a way for unlocking the bootloader of P20 Pro.
Basically, as you might already know, Huawei has removed the "bootloader unlock" page from its website. The paid service (DU-Unlocker) also does not have the device listed in its supported models.
Is there any working method now in 2019 whether it is free or paid or as a service that can unlock the bootloader of this device?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
I used this guy on eBay:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/fonzdirect
It took him a few days to do it, but it worked great!
Cheers
Steve

Hello, pardon me for inquiring further if you truly meant bootloader unlock code for p20 pro from "fonzdirect" on ebay, the seller you mentioned, as he does not provide bootloader unlock codes. His service only unlocks the SIM card to be used on other mobile phone carriers outside of U.K. "02 network", Vodafone, and perhaps others. I did not find his store to provide the service in which this thread is referencing. For the sake of accuracy, might you be conflating the two?
I have paid MinistryofSolutions the 30Euros on Christmas Day for the p20 pro bootloader unlock; however, that was the week his unlock services went down. I was refunded my money that same afternoon and have noticed the website reflect his no longer being able to provide the codes. I cannot justify paying a cent more for FunkyHawaii for what I will use it for. I simply want VoLTE and VoWiFI to be enabled on AT&T through property flags. Cheers.

What's the cost for your time for root etc?
Why does it have to be remote unlocking? This is effectively giving you control of not just my phone but also my computer. How does one know that you will not take advantage, sorry but your thanks meter is kinda low to trust you like other very respectable developers here on XDA.

Well it has to be remote unless you have a Jtag/Octobox on hand so you can do it yourself and I'm bootloader unlocked i watched the entire process from my end, sure i have no idea if they ran something on their end...but my bank accounts and other accounts are just fine...
Just still too early to jump on the bandwagon for me. I'm not finding any official recovery anywhere from TWRP. I'm not desperate for root. There's a natural backup feature, external SD card, so I'm all happy if root never came.

Hi all,
Back when the P20 Pro was released and Huawei was still offering codes, I obtained one.
However I cannot for the life of me remember what I did with it, now a recent flash (my fault) of a service firmware, relocked my bootloader.
Do you think Huawei will give me my code again? Seeing as they aren't actually unlocking a new device or one out of the grace period back in July?
Who would be best to contact to check?
UK based.
I doubt that. But anyway, Huawei is doomed and so i suggest you wait. Maybe they will reopen bootloader unlocking

If they replaced your motherboard then they changed the IMEI too, which means you need a new bootloader unlock

Ok so, i highly doubt they will give you the unlock code for your phone since they don't provide bootloader unlock codes, but you can give it a try using Hicare

That's correct.
However if you rebranded by funky Huawei then your code will have altered and you won't be able to reuse it..
If you didn't, or you used the guide I worked on then you'll be fine..
Can I ask, how did you obtain the code? What method of delivery did they use?? I've checked every email I own and found nothing..
So it must have come up on screen during the unlock process, im annoyed at myself for not making a note, I didn't imagine I'd ever need it again..
That being said, this is my data which I obtained from Huawei and by law in entitled to a copy of it.
So they are obligated to assist.
