Hi there! Does anyone know whether this method work for the Sprint Moto Z3 Play to acquire carrier unlock privilege following the similar way instructed on https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-force/how-to/free-sprint-moto-z2-force-carrier-t3843824.
also interested in this great project as soon as it has been made available; we will be extremely grateful and can provide funds if needed
no it will not work ( maybe only on first firmware 8.1 - but ones you update - it will no longer be avaliable )

I am having difficulty determining the best route. Since I have the Sprint Moto X are there downsides to unlocking using the motorola unlocker? Is there a root method currently working for this device? If so what software version do I need to be on?
Sorry for the questions but I am having a hard time finding the Sprint specific info with all of the providers devices being listed here.
Could anyone please give me a little help here? I like the Sony Xperia UL SOL22, which is exclusively in Japan, and plan to buy one. For your info, here's the link: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=4548&c=sony_xperia_ul_sol22_sony_gaga_anna
The problem is I need to unlock it so that I could use it outside japan. There's an article on htcsoku.info which guide me on how to unlock it, but I'm not sure if I could trust it since the guy gives link to download & install a specialized app for sim-unlock.net to put the unlock code (cost ~ 32 euro), not just root & unlock.
That's why I want to ask if there are any other ways to unlock SOL22 (and if possible, unlock NTT Docomo SO-04E outside Japan) without needing to install suspicious-looking apps.
I thank you in advance.
XT1052 - European Moto X
So, this device just got released in Europe, and i just received it today in my mail. Searching the forums (obviously) did not return any valuable information on how to gain root and unlock the bootloader on this device (if this can be done).
Does anyone know how to deal with this device? Or if I can treat it as any specific US model and follow the guides for it?
Thanks in advance. :good:
First off I apologize if this has been answered. I have spent a great time searching but has not found an exact answer to my question.
I recently purchased a Verizon Moto X developers edition off Swappa that has the 4.4.4 update with the intention to root it. (For the wifi hotspot)
I know some of the updates have closed some opportunities to give it root, but is it still possible to give the device root with this latest update?
Thank you everyone for your time.

If it really is the Dev edition, all you need to do is unlock the bootloader and flash twrp which will root it. See the one stop shop rooting thread in general - it will point you in the right directions.
If it is not a Dev edition, there is currently no way to root.
Good luck
What did you search for? I find it odd that you weren't able to find any info on how to root a developer edition.
Lmao
No.
I have googled and looked around all over XDA. I cannot find accurate data regarding updating to 5.1 from 4.4.4.
I've been a huge fan of XDA and the devs for years. I've always been able to find what I'm looking for within minutes. But this time.... I can't. The biggest issue is when I do find something, it's either missing details or missing working links. I'm not very good at this and don't know how to find the files needed on my own. Can I get some accurate help with working links on this issue? Thanks guys!
I have a Moto X 1st Gen, Dev eddition. 4.4.4 - rooted. TWRP (can't remember what version) I had Xposed installed, but uninstalled it recently (and the modules). Do I still need to do anything to further remove Xposed?
Is your first gen dev edition an XT1053/GSM model, or XT1060/Verizon model?
I ask because the 5.1 update for the Verizon model hasn't been released yet.
As for conditions to update, see the link in my signature, it explains it all.
