Updating to new roms help - Please :)

Hey, urm new to the rooting business so please bare with my newbness. (i have tried searching)
Can someone quickly run me through updating a rom..
i.e Cyans just released an update, i understand i need to download and flash. But do i need to wipe before flashing? do i need to then re-flash my theme after flashing the new rom? So, does flashing an updated rom loose you all your data?
Thanks, love you guys.
If you're going from one Google based ROM (Cyanogen, JF) then you shouldn't need to wipe. If it's a HTC based ROM, then you would need to wipe.
So go ahead and flash, you shouldn't have any problems. If you find that you get stuck in a bootloop, just boot in to recovery then wipe and reflash.
If you dont have apps2sd and you wipe, you will loose them. If they're on your ext partition they will remain there.

How to Restore a ROM backed up in ROM Manager?

Ok, I have JH3 installed with SuperRooter, Circle Battery & Mobile AP. Everything is setup just the way I like it so I used ROM Manager to backup my Captivate. I want to try out a different ROM but I would like to know the procedure to restore my current ROM if I don't like it.
Can you install it from scratch? Or do you need to install the Rom, then root, then reinstall Rom Manager and then use it to restore the ROM?
Just trying to figure out the easiest way.

From what I understand as long as you have ROM manager installed then you just have to run it and restore it from your backup...No need to reflash to stock first...

Request to Developers - Remove Wipe System Data?

Hey guys,
I have a special request and maybe you can do it and maybe you can't. Is there any way that when you create re releases of your ROMs to not do a data wipe?
My interactions with ROMs in the past has been that you had the choice to do a data wipe or not and a lot of ROMs from similar systems would carry system data from ROM to ROM but some would not. If it failed you can tell ROM Manager to do a data wipe first and then apply the new ROM. Is there a reason that SGS ROMs have to have a data wipe every time? Couldn't we just leave that up to the individual user?
I'll gladly offer up an additional donation for any ROM I use that does this. It's really frustrating having to wait in My Back Up Pro or Ti Bu to restore apps and settings.
Thanks,
Derek

{Q} Updating custom ROM

Let's say i have gignerDX5 installed and want to update to v6. Do I have to backup all my apps and data (sms, phonebook) again?
Simple answer is no, you can just upgrade and it will keep all user data.
You should however make a backup in Xrecovery just in case something goes wrong, if all goes well then either move the backup to PC for later or just delete.
I updated from Froyobread to GingerDX and still kept my data and apps.
I make somethimes fullfactory in Xrecovery,if I switched to new room. It´s not bat to make back up in Xrec.of old room. It´s your game, wher you have back up.I use Titanum backup pro and my acount for phonebook and calendar.I do´nt need anything else for change the room.
Hi...
I have a question, and I didn't wanna create new thread, cuz its related to title
When I flash a new rom, its recommended to do a Full Wipe... Do I have to do that before or after flashing a Rom?
You don't need to do a full wipe when you update GingerDX. Just install it and reboot. I didn't have any bugs by not making a full wipe.

If you're coming from 2.1 to DX do a wipe, I tried first time yesterday installing rom and got stuck on cyanogen mod boot screen. Did a wipe, reinstaled and worked.
So do wipe if coming from other rom

(ask)

hello im new on samsung device
can i install A11/A10 custom rom on Latest A12 firmware
and is this phone doest have a telegram group???
sorry for bad english
First of all i don't think there's the right thread to ask questions..
You can install any custom rom on your android phone if there's created one on your device.
If you're new on flashing custom roms i suggesting you to take a look at youtube videos how it's done because its not hard to brick your device. If you end up so, then just install a firmware trough odin app. Anyway installing a custom rom requires to wipe all of your phones data so make sure you backup files you need like photos, videos, etc.
