Hello everyone,
Xiaomi shocking me a Little bit offering a Special EEA Rom for the Mi 9 in Europe.
I am a Long time Xiaomi user. My last device was the Mi Mix 2 from wich i cam from to the Xiaomi Mi 9.
Overall its a great phone, especially the Hardware parts.
But i am not happy About that there is no EEA Global Beta Version available.
So i thinking about to unlock my Mi9 an flashing the Global Beta und relock the Bootloader after that. (Xiaomi.eu is no Option)
Does somebody had some expierience with that?
The Points are:
- Is it possible to relock the Bootloader after the Flash from EEA Global Stable to Global Beta via miflash or does this brick the phone?
- Is Widevine L1 available on the phone after the Flash from EEA Global Stable to Global Beta?
-Whats are other difficults? Means wich are the generell dificullts between EEA Global Stable and "normal" Global?
Thank you very much for your advices!
already answered the question, read ?

I'm wondering this too, but I want to go from EEA stable to Global ROM stable and then lock the bootloader. I don't think anyone has attempted this yet.

me, I install the version dev global and re-lock the bootloader without problem. I think this is possible also with the stable version.
I did it boys ?
Nearly **** in my pants at first boot, but it worked.
Widevine L1 is there anymore.
I flashed 9.22.3 (only getable Fastboot beta) gpay doesn't work and play store wasn't certificated.
After update to 9.2.4. gpay work with PayPal and play store doesn't show anymore a certification.
Tomorrow I will test if payments really work.
@meuhmeuh51 , wats up with your payments and certification in play store?
Where do you get new Beta updates, is it also OTA like in Stable?

Did you locked bootloader again after flashing beta rom?

nicpas said:
yes, i did.
But i dont see any Benefits with it at the Moment.
Play store ist not certified anyway and with locked Bootloader you cant patch safety net.
But before the massage came that ist not certificated i could bind my PayPal with gpay.
So now i will test today in a shop or supermarket if payments will really work.

Yes. I did relock the Bootloader. "Flash all and lock" via Miflash.
But i dont see any Benefits with the re-lock. Cause PlayStore is not certified. And with locked bootlaoder you cant patch that via magisk (safety net).

Does Mi 8 Global Version NFC work with GPay (Android Pay)? I'm in the UK.
Good question, does it?
Google Pay won't work with an offical xiaomi rom neither official global stable nor china stable or beta and so on ...
This is due to xiaomi's roms doesnt support google pay in their roms.
You'll need a costum rom that offically support google pay like xiaomi.eu.
I'm using xiaomi.eu beta on my Mi8 and i can confirm it works great with this rom in Germany even with magisk root.
Global beta wont work
I tried to use GPay in Germany with official Global MI8. It seems to work, but my financial institution doesn't support this nice feature
Can someone confirm or not that it will work _safetynet pass_ with global rom and Magisk hide enabled ?

Will be really surprised if it doesn't work. Mi 6 with global ROM works perfectly fine for GPay.
Will try out with a Mi 8 next week for GPay and update you whether it works or not.

I've been using it with a N26/Wirecard Master Card, but forgot to mention my phone is neither rootet nor is the booloader unlocked.
there is no chance to get a workaround to relock the bootloader in a chinese device running global rom?
Probably not.... Maybe someone make a hack... but I had Yotaphone and there was option to install RU (global) rom - problem was only with no supporting bands and hacked baseband to partially fix it. But here is the problem... damn bootloader - maybe some one will be able to hack and replace vitaminised bootloader with official ?
Development is still weak, we do not have kernel source code, which is a bit difficult but it should appear in the future.

This is not workaround for the question of the treatd!
I also bought chnina version with global rom and unlocked bootloader
Misled by the seller showing large photo with official global rom, but in description with small lethers:
OS ------------ MIUI, Unlocked Bootloader, Official Global ROM, China Version, Support OTA Update.
(Inquiry is necessary if want to reflash firmware)
I`m still waiting delivery, but after I red what I bought I start looking for solution for relock bootloader with Global Rom. So far, no one manage to make it. As @gugugrp said, we have to wait for solution in future (how long, no one knows).
I have one question too, is it posible OTA Update of the global rom already instaled without locking bootloader?
Hi, why do you want to relock BL with global rom?
I have a CN version with unlocked BL and global rom, but it seems useless to me to lock it, or not?

Some apps don`t work at all or don`t work properly or need third party apps to work. Also, if you use the phone as work one, you would prefer OTA update This is my persional opinion of course. If you are about to use custom roms and to play with the phone, it is beter to leave it unlocked.
The problem is not the unlocked bootloader, but the fact that the MiUI 9 stable play store is not sertificated for this deviece... . You also have OTA with the official global and unlocked bootloader.

Google pay does not work with unlocked bootloader for sure (as far as I know). I red some threads for worckaround with third party apps, but....at your own risk. I`m not a dev, just wanted simple phone with OTA update and decently security. If the problem is only in MIUI 9 and when MIUI 10 Global Official comes out fixes this, I`ll be ok, but anyway...would like to know I can lock bootloader with global rom
That would be my exact question in 12 days. Let me know if you know
Same situation for me, using the Chinese Rom instead which allows to lock the bootloader. I will move to the global one when (or if) this could be done...

I doubt xiaomi will ever rollback on the policy, however if the certification on google play is what u are concerned about, installing an older version of magisk and using the universal magisk patcher can mask the unlocked bootloader

As I said I am using the chinese ROM to avoid having the bootloader unlocked. Therefore I had to install the google play myself . Inside the google play settings, the play protect certification field says: Device is not certified.
I found somewhere that this is the reason why NFC payments do not work.
Do you think that the trick with the magisk old version will fix this?
Other than this the Chinese ROM version is working perfect!

I have Cn version with opend bootloader and Global rom. No problem with Google Play Store.
I think he is talking about Google PAY, not google play.
In my case, CN with unlocked bootloader, 8.8.30 Beta Global. Google Pay doesn't work.
Imma trying installing twrp and magisk and tell u later.
Be careful. I got global version of mi 8 + locked bootloader and with MIUI 10 global beta Google pay/play store certificate does not work as well...need to go back to global stable or wait for MIUI 10 global stable.

Ok, try to install Netflix via play store. Can you? I wasn't been able to do it with global miui 9.5.13.0 and 9.6.1.0.
I'm talking exactly for the play store. Your device is not sertificated, and that's why you have problems with some specific apps like Netflix and Google pay. I was with global miui 9, global beta MiUI 10, and xiaomi.eu 8.8.16/24/30. I know what I'm talking about.
My phone is Chaina version with unlocked bootloader.
I don't have problems with Netflix or Google pay, and my Google play is sertificated with all the xiaomi.eu ROMs I used my phone with.
Imo, Xiaomi.eu is more official than the official global, and it also have better support. Everything is working as it should. The best from the CN and Global + some more tweaks.
It's a big mess with Xiaomi ROMs right now.
Best regards! Take care, since you can brick your phone.

Safety Test is false because its libraries are out of date, try "SafetyNet 'attest' works great and its safe. google pay is also in play store and works fine, i paid two days ago the last time with it.
Maybe google pay isnt rolled out in your region yet?
Even root with magisk doesn't break Google pay or play store certification.

Google Pay does not work because of the root, Raiffeisen bank app also. I use Google pay and Raiffeisen bank app in another country with xiaomi.eu 8.8.30 without any problem. You need to hide the root, if you want to use these apps. I can't tell you how to hide the root, I don't use it and I don't need it.
Hide it with magisk manager, and it will work fine
Last week I purchased a Mi 8 from a mexican version of eBay, and I come from the legendary Mi A1.
I wanna have faith and think the seller did not have any bad intentions when he sold it to me, because it's a chinese version with MIUI 10 global ROM. It obviously has its bootloader unlock.
I'm aware of:
China Mi 8 + GLOBAL ROM + Unlocked booloader = safe
China Mi 8 + China ROM + Locked booloader = safe
China Mi 8 + GLOBAL ROM + Locked booloader = BRICK!
To keep it short, I wanna be able to use Google Pay and Netflix, so I wanna root my Mi 8. As far as I read, I don't need to flash MIUI.eu, only root and use Magisk tricks.
I downloaded this TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-1110-t3869729, and another one from a site that I don't remember.
I didn't want to flash it because I don't want to risk bricking it ot bootlooping it. With the Mi A1 I needed to boot into a "temporary" TWRP and then flash the real thing, so I tried the same thing. The TWRPs didn't boot at all. So, is it safe to flash that latest TWRP? If I root and tinker with Magisk, will I be able to bypass Google's certification?
It is safe to flash that recovery. I'm afraid that you might have to decrypt your phone by formating data. Otherwise I really recommend you to flash Xiaomi.eu, it passes SafetyNet and it has less bloatware, you don't even need to flash Magisk. I was on Xiaomi.eu since RN3 MTK as that ROM is originally from my country and it was the best option and I still consider their ROM as one of the best if not the best.

So, the TWRP is only flasheable and not bootable? I don't mind the bloatware,as I find it actually useful, except for the Mi theme and app store (which I already uninstalled). Is the EU ROM aat the latest version? The day I got my phone I got the 10.2.1.0 update and installed it normally.
To root I have to do the verity dm thing, right?
Lastly. I only want to root and not flash any other ROM for the time being, because I like to edit root/system/media stuff and some build prop lines for fun. That's what I did with my A1 to entertain myself.
EDIT: The formatting data part is really a bummer. It took me a day to set everything up and I don't wanna do it again.

It depends on what are your preferences. If you will be use any custom rom there is not any reason to pay more for global version. Remember that if you would like to has locked bootloader you can use only chinese miui rom ( Chinese and English language only) on Chinese version.
So the EU ROM thread says you have to be on China Rom.

I just want to confirm:
"You can install Xiaomi.EU rom on the chinese model (M2011K2C) if the bootloader is unlocked without any problems"
I am asking again because I recently flashed a Xiaomi.EU rom on my Redmi Note 9 pro, and I had to restore it to stock by flashing it through EDL and had to pay $25 for that.
I don't want the same to happen to my newly bought Mi 11

If you check directly in Magisk - it doesn't work in the moment. Problem that Google changed the API check. Patch is already work in progress. In the meantime you can check with the app "SafetyNet attest" from Playstore. That shows that safetynet is green
Hey so I checked that app. It was green. So I uninstalled magisk APK. Rebooted. Then I installed canary version of magisk. And passes safetynet.
