I'm currently using the MIX 2S with MIUI 10 in combination with O2 / Eplus. The provider does defiantly support the WIFI Call, but MIX 2S does not support it.
What's about MI 9. Does it support in combination with the actual MIUI ROM the WIFI Calls?
Yes, using it with Telekom Germany (D1).
Just enter *#*#869434#*#* in dialer and enable it in phone settings.
Thank you. It's the same approach for Mix 2s, but it' not working with O2/Eplus even if the provider does support the feature. So I assume Wifi-Call wil also not work on Mi 9 with O2/Eplus.
wifi calls working great with SFR (france)
WiFi-Calls on Mix 2S and O2/Eplus are working also great with LineageOS 16.0 too, which is available for MIx 2s. But it's not working with MIUI.
I'm sure it is the same situation for MI9 WiFi Calling. Or have somebody managed to enable MI9 (MIUI) Wifi-Calling with O2/Eplus?
Wifi calling on o2 Germany works after you enter *#*#869434#*#* in the dialer and then check sim settings and enable there. However it is quite spotty, sometimes it does not register after connecting to WiFi or loses the connection after some time, but it definitely works, I performed several calls in flight mode and only WiFi enabled.

Hi,
I open a thread here because I have a really strange problem.
I currently have a Xiaomi Mi5 (MIUI 9 Global 8.3.8 | Béta) and a mobile plan with a French provider. VoLTE is enabled for the provider side and I have the VoLTE icon at the top of my screen after reboting my phone. When I call a French mobile phone (regardless the provider), the call is successfull in VoLTE (I am able to surf during calling). Unfortunately, when I try to call a French landline number (no matters which is the provider), the call is not connected and I obtain the message "Call ended". When disabling the VoLTE, my phone is in LTE, switch in 3G when calling and everything works well.
I have a friend who has a Mi Mix 2 with the same provider than me and VoLTE works well for all numbers he tries to call. I tried to put his SIM card in my phone and the same issue appears. It's my phone fault.
Do you have an idea of what could happen?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
I made a full wipe and I flashed the latest stable ROM via fastboot (MIUI Global 9.2 | Stable 9.22.1.0 (NAAMIEK)) and I have still the same issue.
Does anybody has an idea?
Thanks
As far as I know, both called and receiver must have VoLTE enabled. Your phone's behavior seems quite normal to me...
By the way, what happens if you put your sim in his phone?

I recently purchased the global version of the Mi 9T Pro and I am running stock MIUI Global 10.3.2 with US T-Mobile as my provider. OOTB the phone does not have a WiFi calling option. Since this is useful to me when traveling outside the US or in areas where I have WiFi but poor cell reception, I searched for a way to activate WiFi calling on this phone. I searched the XDA sub forum for the phone, but did not find any relevant threads (so apologies if this has been posted before). I did find a useful thread started by XDA member lightcao in the Xiaomi Mi 9 sub forum:
https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/topic?url=https%3A%2F%2Fforum%2Exda-developers%2Ecom%2Fshowthread%2Ephp%3Ft%3D3917887&share_tid=3917887&share_fid=3793&share_type=t&link_source=app
Based on the suggestions in this thread and other information, I did the following:
1. Ensured that my T-Mobile account had an e911 address listed.
2. Enabled WiFi calling option using the dialer code provided in the thread and activated WiFi calling under the sim card settings (new option appeared).
3. Updated the T-Mobile APN with the APN types as suggested. At this point WiFi calling worked, but only in airplane mode with WiFi enabled. This was because after enabling WiFi calling, the Network Preferences defaulted to WiFi Only with no apparent option to change it (grayed out).
4. Installed QuickShortcutMaker (sika524) from the Play Store. With this app I could access the Network Preferences setting and change it to WiFi Preferred. Although the grayed out setting in the phone is still showing WiFi Only, phone is now working based on WiFi Preferred and I can see the WiFi calling icon in my notification bar whenever I have a WiFi connection.
Although this is specific to US T-Mobile, in the referenced thread people with other providers and in other countries suggest it is working for them as well, as long as the provider supports WiFi calling. Hope this helps others interested in WiFi calling on their Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro.
I used the same method a while ago in mi9t pro to enable wifi calling on O2 uk network but i didnt need to do all the other stuff i just entred the dialer codes and it started working. I think this is the case with most miui based roms because it was the same with my Mi6.
After I install miui 11 the option volte in setting Is missing.
Mi 9 Eu version .
Same here...?
At me is still there and working as usual.
I didn't touched anything before and after new ROM installation so it's really strange.

Here also. As a workaround you can disable VoLTE Carrier check (*#*#86583#*#*). This works at me.
For me it appeared in the settings with the update, but still cannot activate it
I have the same problem pls try
VoLTE *#*#86583#*#*
VoWIFI *#*#869434#*#*
It's work

For my case, VoLTE was operational before the upgrade (using 10.3.11 international version on my Mi9T in Vodafone GR). An icon was displayed for VoLTE on the carrier signal in my mobile's screen when it was connected in 4G.
Now it does not work anymore (upgraded yesterday to MIUI 11.0.1 international version, no icon when connected in 4G networks and actually drops to 3G when performing a call so it gets circtuit switched and not IP based via IMS). Of course it is not a matter of settings to disable carrier checks (as already done/undone several times, reboot etc, since it was in disabled state already and the settings are there to enable/disable VoLTE and VoWiFi).
VoWiFi still works but only when using Vodafone's application for WiFi calling.

Contact Vodafone GR (even their website and use chat to request VoWiFi/VoLTE service for your mobile number), they will handle it. Meanwhile you can also use *#*#VOLTE#*#* and *#*#VOWIFI#*#* settings to check that are in disabled state. You should be able to see VoLTE and VoWiFi settings (enable/disable etc) in your Sim cards & mobile settings (pick your Vodafone SIM settings then).

I have Vodafone in Italy the same problem but I wouldn't know how to insert the writing in the numeric keypad I just slip the symbols.
There're characters below the numbers.
Then *#*#VOLTE#*#* is keyed in as *#*#86583#*#*.
Cheers

Mi 9 miui 11.0.5 volte vowifi dual 4g options missing
Hello ,
Mi 9 bought from Greece you.gr after miui 11 android 10 upgrade, volte vowifi and dual 4g options missing !
Also sms app fails to send sms if the Use GSM alphabet option is enabled!
*#*#VOLTE#*#* and *#*#VOWIFI#*#* solves the issue! i don't no if there is similar code for dual 4g enable or it not needed and just works!
I am using only one sim card cosmote, so i can't check the dual 4g!
Thank u
Dialing the code "*#*#86583#*#*, the message "volte carrier check disabled" is shown. Then I can toggle the VoLTE option in settings, and it works when making a phone call. Look at the screenshots I attached.
Phone: Xiaomi Mi 9
Contry: Italy
Carrier: TIM

Just returned from a trip to Thailand. VoLTE and ViWiFi work on both sim cards, Telekom (DE) and AIS (TH).

Edit : VoLTE is activate...but don't work.....
Hi, I got a Mi 9 SE. I activated volte and wifi call with the codes under MIUI 10 some weeks ago. Volte and Wifi Call worked like a charm.
Now I received the Miui 11 update some days ago. Unfortunately Volte and Wificall stopped working.
Reentering the codes worked, but with enabling Carrier check again ...
Strange thing is that in settings the option to enable Volte and wifi call is still visible and activated - but I can't see the volte logo und it obviously doesnt't work ...
I read in another forum to do a factory reset might help --- but it got a lot of installed apps etc and I am not willing to reinstall everything ...
Anyone an idea how to reactivate?
Thanks for help!
Hello!
I hope someone can help me with this "little" problem that I'm experimenting with my Xiaomi mi 9T Pro running MIUI Global 10.3.3.0 (Stock) I checked everything before buying and the phone is fully compatible with my carrier (I'm from Venezuela), however, I noticed that when the phone is on 4G it switches to 3G/H/H+ in order to make/receive calls (which is pretty normal since my carrier does not support VoLTE). The problem comes when there is an incoming call, it should switch automatically to 3G/H/H+ BUT it does not happen all the time, in fact, I can say that it only happens 25% of the time when I was testing, of course, when it does not happen there is no way to receive the incoming call.
So far I tried:
- Forcing the phone to stay on 3G (everything works great)
- Testing the different network options (it switches from 4G to 3G but not always as it should)
- Switching from SIM slot 1 to slot 2
- At the moment the preferred network type is LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS (default)
Could it be a software issue? or could it be related to my carrier? I haven't tried using a SIM card from another carrier.
After all, I bought a PHONE that does not behave like an actual phone all the time, so, I hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks in advance.
Thank you, I almost thought I was the only one.
I bought my Xiaomi mi 9T Pro running MIUI Global 10.3.3.0 (Stock) a week ago and I have the same symptoms like you.
Im on A1 Network in Austria running default network settings and I realized after hours I couldn't make calls (and obviously did't receive any).
This is the first phone I had this network problems, and I am on A1 network for 20 years with different phones....
I hope someone can share some light why this happens and what are the best settings for European (Austrian) A1 network.
Trying to switch to LTE/UMTS, but that setting is always reset to the default above after reboot.
As its also my work phone it would be very bad not recognizing for hours that I'm not reachable...
Thank you !
A1 supports VoLTE, try to enable it on your phone, I have no issues running a dual SIM config with A1 and 3 .....

Hi! It feels better knowing that I'm not alone.
The fact is that I can actually make calls (it take from 3 to 5 seconds switching from 4G to 3G/H), the problem comes when there is an incoming call, sometimes it works (it switches to 3G/H and when the call is ended, it switches back to 4G) but most it does not. I just tried LTE/UMTS and it does work but not for long, I can see that it happens and sometimes it does not. I found a "solution" which involves forcing to 3G/H but it's not the point, there should be a real solution. At this moment, I haven't found a correct network configuration, all the ones that I've tried just have worked for me for some time, and then the problem is back without even rebooting the phone. Could it be caused by a faulty SIM or it's just a network/carrier issue? I don't want to think that it's a hardware issue.

Whats your ROM Version ?
I alreaddy tried to enable VoLTE, I can switch it on and the VoLTE Symbol appears.
The problem is - I have no caller ID. I don't even see the phone number when someone calls me ("unbekannter Anrufer" - "unknown caller")
That's not conveniant, so as soon as I switched OFF VoLTE caller recognition was enabled again.
Is VoWIFI working at you with A1 ? I can enable it but I don't get the symbot at home in my WIFI network.
So for now I see two options:
- the correct (stable) network configuration for Austria that persist in the phone configuration
- enabling VoLTE but with a solution for a working caller ID
I finally got found the solution
Problem is the notification settings.
This was somehow reset after the update to mui 11.
To fix the issue:
1. Go to settings
2. Click notification
3. Click the notification badges (3rd icon)
4. Find the "phone" icon
5. Enable the show notification
6. Exit to settings and test
Having same problem
Can someone help me I am from Malta and have Xiaomi mi9t pro and from last night stopped receiving calls and incoming . Tried with sim 1 and it worked but it happened again . I tried the notification settings but still the same problem .
I had trouble not receiving calls also...
After looking here, and also on YouTube, I started going through my phone again. I too was not getting my calls a lot, but I have only had my phone maybe 2 weeks, so there's not much on it yet. One thing I am always adding is themes. The theme feature is it's own pre installed app as I'm sure we've all seen. Different one's have been doing/blocking certain features at times on my phone. My husband's calls were being sent to voicemail, and some other important calls. I noticed the other day when I tried a new theme it locked me out of my phone with no preface to get back to the lock screen. I had to take a picture and select send to get back to the lock screen. Remembering this, I decided to go back to the original developer theme for the phone. My phone now rings. Original developer mode also controls the call feature, not just the theme, which I did not know or read until now. Going back to it I believe kind of reset my configuration. I would say give this a try for sure. Hope it helps someone else I love my phone and didn't want to lose it. FYI, I am on TMobile network in the USA.
Hi!
I have a very similar problem on a xiaomi redmi note 8t. I tried various settings, but failed. This is annoying because the phone is relatively new. I think it is a hardware problem.

I have the same issue here in same phone but on EU MIUI 12.0.3.0 .. with the same symptoms u described .. i suspected in sim card and i replaced it with a new one and the issue still there .. did u find a solution for this issue?
I'm not sure if this is the same issue as what's described by OP, but it's somewhat similar (not receiving calls). Sometimes my colleagues will call me on Whatsapp and state that they're unable to reach me via the cellular network. This is what fixed it for me:
Settings - SIM cards & mobile networks - Select your sim card - turn off 'use volte (use volte to improve the quality of voice calls)'

I have the same problem i have a redmi note 9 pro, i can't receive calls in 4G, i only can receive calls in Edge someone could resolve this? I tried all of these methods but nothing works
Hi,
I do not get VoLTE working on my Redmi 4X (last official ROM MIUI Global 11.0.2 Stable NAMMIXM). I tried with two SIM cards (1x Telekom Prepaid, 1x Klarmobil Telekom). Both of them support VoLTE and VoWifi in my father's Redmi 6A, so my 4X is the culprit.
I entered this *#*#VOLTE#*#* code which disabled carrier check and enabled VoLTE in the menu (see screenshot). But whenever I start a call, the phone switches to 2G or 3G.
Should VoLTE work in the 4X or not? I read some information, that Xiaomi morons broke this functionality with an update and never repaired it, but don't know whether this is true.
