I'm an android developer and I need to know if this phone is implementing the depth module from the camera 2 api.
Is someone available to install a very simple apk (attached) that lists the camera capabilities and post the screenshot with the output?
It would mean a lot, thanks.
Sure thing, here you go.

Thank you very much. This is great news
No worries, it will be interesting to see what you plan on doing with the depth sensor. Extracting a z-depth map would be very useful for a lot of different things, photogrammetry being one of those.

Hello there,
I'm pretty new to all this and the P880 is my first Android device.
Does anyone here know if there is an app that allows you to take photos like the normal photo app but saves the raw data from the image sensor? I had such an app for my previous device, the Nokia N900 and really like to play around with raw images ...
many thanks in advance

I don't think this is possible. Just did a quick google:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4514862/android-impossible-to-obtain-raw-image-data-from-camera
Maybe you can ask the the CyanogenMod team if it's possible at all and somebody is interested to look into this... However it would need root then.

thanks for your reply domenukk. Too bad its not possible. These latest BSI sensors really offer much regarding dynamic range but the jpeg compressin makes it impossible to exploid it

Well most current phones feature a HDR mode, so at some point they seem to have access to the data. Probably just needs some hack...

I dont know what you mean by port it, but I can attach the APK from my phone.
RAW support is not enabled through the Camera apk, just the system level software.
Update to 5.1.1 or wait for root.

Thanks man! Didn't work but at least I tried.
Not sure what your skill level is but the current apk might (from my experience it most likely does) have the ability for RAW pictures already. You could always decompile it in .smali files and have a look around. I'll give it a look when I root mine, not sure when that will be though.
I already planned on increasing the bit rates, audio sampling and bit rates, jpeg compression, and a couple other things once I root mine.

Just wanted to see if everyone is seeing this.
I'm on the EVADL00 with firmware version B139
In the Camera app's settings, there's simply no option to save as RAW.

hmm nevermind. You first need to be in Pro mode in order for the option to show up in Settings.
a bit confusing.... but it's there!
Does it give the option to save RAW and jpg?

yes it does. that's the only option- save both jpg and raw format. toggled off, then it's jpg only, obviously.
Thanks for confirming.
I guess it wouldn't make sense for RAW only on a smartphone. Are you able to save the jpg with filters applied i.e. neutral/standard/vivid/monochrome? Just wondering how close they made the camera options to a proper Leica.

yup they have what's called "Film Mode" in Settings, and the options are: Standard, Vivid and Smooth
And yes Monochrome is available in the easier accessible right-swipe Modes.

Cool, they went part of the way there then! The Leica M has the option so save RAW and Monochrome jpg. A lot of photographers like that option as when you are "chimping" a photo you just took, you are only really checking for proper exposure and when you import both into the likes of Adobe Lightroom it can give you a good indication as to which images would be a candidate for full monochrome conversion from the RAW file. I'm happy they've given a nod to what the Leica M does, but I doubt many smartphone photographers would save just RAW and monochrome jpg!

Yes I think very few users would bother saving RAW. but of those who do.. they'll likely find the photo quality lacking to begin with. Such a pity..
Got to believe that RAW has to be better than compressed jpg, by definition?

The problem with the cam is it seems to always need input on what to focus on in Auto mode. Lack of OIS also means blur happens quite often in snapshots
I've not tried RAW / Pro mode properly just yet. It's something else entirely when you're adjusting every little thing yourself.. I'm sure that will yield better results
This Chinese version come with original ROM or Modified by vendor? Thanks.

I can't say to what extent it was modified by the vendor.. but yes it definitely had a vendor boot animation before the Huawei animation came on
I doubt the ROM is modified because I receive and applied official Huawei updates just fine..?

I bought the version EVA-AL00 and if the DL00 has portuguese the AL00 very likely that has also.
I checked and it's compatible with our LTE (here we use band 7-2600mhz and band 38-2600mhz).
Thanks.

nice. have fun!
Sorry for bringing an year old thread, but I can`t find a way to save a picture, taken with the wide aperture option in raw format. It seems a some sort of limitation- when choose the option, the "pro" mode disables and on the right slide RAW is nowhere to be found.. Which is silly- the Wide aperture option is one of the most "pro" things, that can exist.
Hello,
Anyone have found a apps to automatically correct the FishEye deformation when we took picture with wide angle ? (like photoshop lens correction profile)

I've try snapseed but unsuccessfull, correction is bad , have you success ?
If you want to correct those fisheye distortion, you can only use skrwt. Snapseed various distortion correction is not as comprehensive as skrwt.
Sorry but my Snapseed is set in Spanish so it says "perspectiva"... I can guess that in English the option's name is "perspective".
Anyone have success ? b/c i've try without success...
the skrwt app does a decent job in a fast manner. at least that's my opinion
I am used to Lens Correction Manual section in Lightroom, so, this SKRWT is super easy for me. You just have to get used to all the settings.
Who can post correct settings for skwrt?

Can you share the settings that you use in lightroom to fix it?
That fish eye thing is to do with 360° camera and can't be fixed if you look there is on one side two soft buttons one with a single tree the other one with three tree's......

if you go to Lighroom >> Develop >> Lens Correction >> Manual.
All the necessary correction for distortion caused by the ultra wide lens can be done there.
Guys, I just tried Snap Camera, and i found out that the video recording is really brighter when recording on Snap Camera compared to Sony's Stock Application. ALSO,on Snap Camera, i can tap on screen to change focus while recording video, which is something that I am not allowed to do when I use Stock App.
This means that our device(z3 compact) IS CAPABLE of using Touch to Focus while video recording. Is there any way to activate/enable/make use of this feature on Sony's Stock Application?!
Thanks in advance.

Yes of course !
Decompile the stock camera app and code it in yourself.
100% serious answer: judging from your question, no.

Is it possible for developers @mkdmc to do something like this? I mean, since they're making mods, they might know how to tweak the stock app camera to achieve it!

Like I said... It'll be faster if you code it yourself. I know everyone here can do that since it's XDA- ""developers"" after all.
Whether he wants to mod it or not is a different question, better to ask him yourself.

Thought you made a typo ( can - instead of can't) and that's why I didn't catch it. Message sent. Hope he replies!
The question is: Is there a high request of this feature or not? I myself don't have a problem not having that focus, as for real recordings, I better use my "real" camera / camcorder instead of the phone.
@kwstas 13
Thanks for your suggestions. I'll add it to cyberian road map
