Unfortunately here in australia the telcos have blocked dual sim capabilities for this phone as well as blocking us from purchasing unlocked dual SIM devices from samsung themselves under a contract. i however heard from 3 seperate samsung reps that it is a CSC issue which can be resolved by rooting and removing the given telco CSC (in this case optus) and replacing it with an unlocked version. is this correct or does there need to be 2 device IMEI on the phone for dual sim to work??
I've downloaded the XSA firmware for us Aussies and will be uploading it to MEGA soon. But can any one tell me wether it's simply a CSC ISSUE or will I just have to live with single SIM??

I don't think changing your CSC to XSA requires a root. But yet to to find a working solution myself. I tried flashing the XSA stock firmware, but it doesn't change the CSC from OPS to XSA. I'll try flashing another country firmware and move it back to XSA and see if this changes the CSC to XSA.
Apparently you need to put a different SIM in for 5 mins to make it unbranded I'll be trying DR.Ketans rom and see what the difference is than maybe I can get it to work. We still need a dual SIM tray also

Ah cool. I'll try that later tonight if i have time. True that we will need the hybrid sim tray. I wonder if we can get a hybrid sim tray from Samsung to keep the waterproofing intact. Bit worried with the quality of the aftermarket products in relation to the waterproofing of the phone.
I found this thread about changing CSC for Note 8.
https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/for...eo-firmware-downloaded-directly-t3765512/amp/
But everytime I flashed the combination file, ODIN stucked at odm.img.
Let me know how you go.

Hi
You MUST download the combination rom for NOTE 9. DON'T USE THE combination ROM for NOTE8.
You can find the combination rom for SM-N960F via below link.

Hi there,
I actually downloaded the combination rom for note 9 from gem-flash.com. For some reason when I flashed the AP and Home_csc, it always stuck at odm. Tried this several times.
Not sure where I went wrong.
I'll try flashing to another country ROM and then follow the steps on your original thread and flash using the combination rom for Note 9. All i want is to change the CSC from Optus to XSA.

tried to flash AP only and it worked. however, on the factory IMEI, *#243203855# doesn't give me the list of the csc. When I tried to flash the AP and home_csc or csc it always stuck in odm.img. Not sure what's happening.
Did you guys get this working at all? I'm in the same boat with a telco note 9, either going to return it and buy one outright or try get it working. i ordered an additional tray with the hybrid sim slot.
where have you found the various stock australian roms?

Sammobile.com...
Has all the latest Stock ROMs for all regions...
Thankfully I bought from Samsung (pre-order)... Came with Hybrid Sim card holder and 2 IMEI's though I have yet to try...
Cool. I'll give it a go now that I have it and if the new sim tray and flashed stock rpm doesn't work Telstra can stick it and I'll get from Samsung too...
What i've done so far:
Got a hybrid sim tray. Doesn't reject the second sim.
Flashed with odin and the stock XSA rom. Didn't work.
Flashed with Dr Ketan using TWRP. Doesn't work.
Tried to enable the sim manager setting using package disabler. Enables it but no way to access the settings.
Used a shortcut app to try to access the sim manager setting but crashed out.
About to try a different rom...
It seems to be software related only.
If there was a way to access the sim manager setting/software...
Where did you get the hybrid sim tray?
I'd assume the lack of an imei for the second sim would be the issue

Looks the firmware is same for OPS/TEL/VAU and public version.
I believe the logic should be same as Note 8, it's controlled by EFS not only CSC number, you also cannot change the HOME CSC.
So you have to decrypt the EFS, write the second IMEI, then you will have the dual SIM function.

You still cannot connect to network even you can open the sim manager app.
You don't have the second IMEI which is required for network.
The rom is same for Australia and New Zeland, you won't able to change your CSC if you just flash the rom in ODIN.
You have to use combination rom to change your CSC, but I don't think you can change your HOME CSC, you only can your normal CSC.
Dual sim function is not controlled by CSC if the logic is same as NOTE8.
OK, been a little while coming but I FINALLY got around to testing my Samsung bought XSA Note 9 for dual sim cards.
Both sim cards work fine, Just means my sd card is now floating around out of the phone and my backup phone has no sim...
Made and received calls off both sim cards.
So, the dual sim Note 9 bought directly from Samsung Australia with the XSA firmware CAN use both sim cards. It does have 2 different IMEI numbers and both work...
Glad I got the Samsung phone over the Telco distributed phone as it seems they have actually crippled one of the primary features of this awesome device...
Cheers...

To my knowledge you can't downgrade the bootloader. What carrier/country? You may just need to update APN settings or something like that. Wifi calling may depend on CSC file too (or require a call to your carrier in some cases)...
USA--> Tmobile.
but why doesn't wifi calling feature does not appear anywhere

No! Sorry!
You can try another firmware with N950FXX"s5" or "u5"C***
But you can't go back to N950FXX"s/u 4, 3, 2, 1"*****
If your rooted you can just flash a csc zip file containing your cell providers csc. You can find it by searching xda.
But you'll lose Samsung pay, secure folder for good no getting them back without changing motherboard.
thanks

For USA tmobile is TMB but you will not find that for your phone model SM-N950F. It's only for SM-N950U or U1.
Only way is to root your device and flash the zip file containing the TMB csc .

You can try csc detonator maybe. As far as i know tmobile doesnt allow phones volte and wifi calling if you dont buy from them yet i dont have many knowlagde on usa models and tmobile but you can take a look at csc detonator or tmobile csc threads
I am experiencing a similar situation, but noticed that the new bootloader after u5 is "S5"? But are both compatible between each other, I don't think they are.

Does the Korean version has the Chinese csc in it ? If yes when you put a Chinese sim card, or every other country that is supported from the rom, then it asks if you want to change the csc to the country of the sim card on the first reboot. If you haven't accept it then you have to reset the phone to the factory settings to get asked again . Without root but it changes only the 3rd csc the rest stays on the original csc

Hello guys,
So I have a galaxy note 9 n960f that was rooted with magisk and twrp on android 9.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Yes i downloaded files from sammobile for my country.
my phone is n960f and it was rooted with magisk before i flashed the files.
and yes i don't remember exactly but i think my sim was inside when i flashed.
i had this kind of problem before when i had note 4 and i used to flash a patched modem and it worked but i don't know if there are patched modems for note 9.

ah yes.. i remember that too with the note4. but since this is stock its a problem. im not sure but try and flash a multi CSC file like OXM downloaded via frija without the sim and see what would be the outcome. then phone will be on its original CSC im assuming..
Similar issue. Network connectivity was perfect with stock (rooted) N960f/DS running Android 10, though as soon as I flashed havoc, evolution, or crDroid I lost the ability to talk to my network (Verizon in the US), tried flashing my csc which worked fine with rooted android 10, no help, tried manually connecting to Verizon's APN, switching network mode, and manually selected my network, nothing seemed to fix it besides reflashing my android 10 software

yeah usually this happens if you have a rooted phone and you flash something via odin.
unfortunately there no patched modem/ baseband for android 10 on note 9. i got it fixed from a local shop, they had a developer patch the rom manually.
so i am basically stuck with this rom until i can get a patched rom to upgrade.
with the note 4 i had a patched modem file and i had my efs folder backed up so if this happened or my IMEI got corrupted, i would just restore IMEI and flash the modem file via recovery and everything was perfect.

If your device is SD then you won't be able to get BTU.
If it is exynos then you can flash the BTU firmware.
Your 4g speeds may be slow if you do not have the correct csc files for your provider. Eg: having BTU for Rogers may not get your the speeds you are looking for.

You will not be able flash Canadian CSC on an exynos device.
First you have to root the device and Either you or some else will have to edit the canadian csc file to make it compatible wtih exynos.
Some one has done for me in the past with note 8 but that dev is no longer in XDA.
The other option is to root and then copy the required csc files.
With this there is a high chance that the imeir related files can get corrupted.

You can flash any other file with multicsc.
There is no reason for you not recieve sms with BTU csc. However, if it does happen fhe csc firmware that is the original one. i.e look at the third tri letter in the csc info.(this third letter never changes , more like hard coded)
I do get SMSs but, I was not able to get one from my bank. The 3rd 3 letters are still TPA. I do not know if it is normal, but the dual sim menu has much fewer options. I can choose from what sim to call only after I dial at least one digit. And When I try to activate Dual sim always on, the toggle still stays off.
For the Canadian CSC, I suspected that it will be impossible to flash. I used to be on TPA and now I am on BTU, I had problems slow upload speed on 4G. Now is a bit better, but the download is staying around 50-75. before I had 160-300 Mbps.
Where I can get Multicsc and do I have to root the phone?
Thank you.

Rooting won't help you much with signal or speed of data, unless you have to flash some modified csc files.
Your problem could also be the absence of the required bands, whuch may be lacking in exynos.
I have a SD version ( decided to go wtih non root this time as most of the things that need root can be done with adb anyways. Also there is root for SD too these days) so cannot help you much.

Chainging csc is easy by flashing the CSC file. Rooting won't affect it. Rooting has its downsides.
Your loss of dual sim fn could be related to csc but BTU should support full dual sim fn.
