[REF] Gear manager downloads, current version: 1.7.031004 | 2014-03-16

Please read first:
I have moved on to the HTC One M8, I don't own a galaxy phone anymore, and have sold my gear. I won't be keeping this thread updated anymore, but please refer to Brendo's thread (link below) which he appears to be maintaining. Cheers. ps, i really miss the gear, but am just sick of samsung phones for the moment. can't wait for the moto 360!

Hi All,
Here's some versions of the Gear manager APK I have managed to collect. Hopefully the historical versions might be useful to some, and the current version useful to people wanting to run Gear manager on a non Samsung/Touchwiz phone/ROM.
Latest version, 16th March 2014
1.7.031004 - poor watch battery life? I would stick with 1.6.132701 right now.

Unsure, but I have gotten pretty bad watch battery life with this version. I went back to 1.6.132702 and battery mostly went back to normal.
?? initially I thought this would be for 1.6.111801, but I installed it and it doesn't feature these updates. So possibly this is a future changelog of an unreleased version

is that my version number? if so how could i be on such a higher version number? i have the SM-V700 software MK7

i am on a Verizon N3 running MJE with root.
if you look at attached pic in post above i placed an arrow pointing to where i see the version number.
here is a pic as well from Toolbox Pro App Manager where you can see the version number as well. see attached

does it install for you? wonder how i got it and it seems nobody else has. weird!
i did install NULL and play with it for a day then went back via ODIN to stock with root and after stock install i received that update to the higher version.

yep neither. I guess the changelog that the Samsung rep posted in that facebook post was for a different version. Maybe it's what we have to look forward to?

Keep getting parsing error when trying to install the latest two versions. Any ideas?

Just checked-U.S.east coast-1.6 not showing

Updated through posted apk-see no difference-cnn still has no connection, weather and voice assist still in whatever language that is-no idea why these can't get straightened out-wish they would just open up app store already

Hi all,
So I was testing the GN5 and came across a built-in permission manager first thing. Didn't think much of it I mean yes it's a very nice feature and all but then after I had to return the phone, I looked for other references to it online but couldn't find any. It's not available on the Galaxy A8 that's for sure.
So I'm just looking for confirmation that it does indeed exist on every other GN5 out there..

Should've noted that down... but it pops up by itself either before or after download. Didn't need to set anything before hand. Will see if I can dig up the rom info too... it was a test unit for HK

That's the only reason I miss aosp or root for. How do you get that? Is it third party app or what? Seems like test build samsung has around for android M update coming soon to note 5.

Android definitely needs something like this...
I hate downloading apps that need random permissions for things (Like a photo editor that needs to read my SMS messages) - It creeps me out and is just weird. I'm sure some permissions are innocent and others are malicious.
This feature will definitely help Android!

fail..... of all the screenshots I took I forgot to take one of the build info. is there anywhere on google that might store that? I already checked Play store.. that only remembers my model number.
on my GN5 it was built in. I was setting it up from scratch, installing new apps etc.

yup I was surprised to see it. I'll see if I can clarify with my PR contact...
I've got Android M on my Nexus 6 and that was pretty buggy. Samsung would've needed a miracle to put their touchwiz on it and maintain such stability at this time so that's highly unlikely.

I am pretty sure that ROM wasn't a 6.0 test rom, but just something Samsung cooked into the Chinese (and HK) ROM... already seen it in some Chinese N9200 before... Could be something unique to said variant, or could be something that can be triggered by change of build file...

Well lg g4 had it cooked un and you could access it by creating widget of activities and sellecting permissions settings but I am not able to find it on this phone

No root for my Note 5 lol

Note 8 N950F issues after Oreo

Hi guys,
I am starting this thread so we can discuss issues that might be frustrating. As we are using premium device with top of market price and Samsung should address these issues. I found two issues which are frequently happening on my phone. I just want to see how many other people are having these issues.
1. Randomly Moisture detected and device restarts.
2. "Gear VR undocking issue / tap here to finish undocking your mobile device" notification when I plug in my charger.

What do you mean by "undocking issue" ?
I am interested on these things, My country still does not receive official oreo OTA, I am really concerned about all these oreo issues many post around here, I have even blocked all updates via bk

Gear VR undocking issue / tap here to finish undocking your mobile device when I plug in my charger. Its an irritating notification only.

Interesting. Why would the camera apps be different. I have it under camera settings/picture size. It was always there. Doesn't matter if in auto mode or pro mode or...

BetterBatteryStats for Galaxy Note 8 (One Ui V.1.0 - Non root)

I'm new here and this is my first post. So Hi there everyone.
I discovered XDA fairly recently and I quickly realised that it's a great place to learn everything Android and joined up.
I did search the forum before starting a new thread but didn't find my question. But I am hopeless with keywords so I apologise if my following questions have been answered many times already.
I would like an app which will display as much battery usage Information as possible. I'm using a non-root Galaxy Note 8 running One Ui v1.0
I am aware that options are limited for non-routed devices but I read that BetterBatteryStats does work on non-root Note 8's running One Ui but requires ADB (something I have started to familiarise myself with). Also one review on the apps Play Store page mentioned that there's a XDA version of the app. However I'm getting the impression that the app originated from XDA anyway.
Before I even attempt to install it I'd really like to get a little advice from a trusted forum.
So if anyone here can spare the time please could you confirm...
Will BetterBatteryStats run on my non-root One Ui Note 8 correctly?
Is there anything important that I should know about that's not already in the current documentation?
Is there a 'XDA' version of the app or has it always been an XDA developed app anyway?
And finally... if BetterBatteryStats is not suitable for the Note 8 then is there an alternative you would recommend?

Yes it will run correctly
Nope everything is straight forward
I think there used to be. But now it's on the play store

You can get the XDA version through the Hockey app, and you also have GSam Battery from play store. Both are limited in output without root however.

Ahh yes, I've seen GSam somewhere and was going to research it but forgot until you mentioned it.
I haven't heard of the Hockey app though. I'll check it out. Thank's for posting. :good:

Just downloaded the second.
First was ok. When I tried to use Bluetooth headphones while running with GPS and Samsung health 'run' , it locked up. Took a while to clear and use

How does one apply for One UI Watch 5 Beta outside the US?
Basically the title. I live outside the US, is there anyway to sign up for the new One UI 5 Watch Beta within the Samsung Members app for people outside the US? Is there anyway to trick the system to mock a US location?
