need help recovering G1

okay i really need some help.
ive tried all the steps to recover my phone.
i get to the g1 screen when i power it up.
i can still get in to recovery menu.
ive tried to do a wipe.
please i need help.
ive also tried reinstalling rc29 with the original spl
but my radio is still 2_22_19_26I
PLEASE I NEED HELP!
or if there is a way that i can make it look like i never touched it then im still able to return it

if you put the DREAIMG.nbh on your phone via bootloader it will reset the radio and spl to stock and everything else will be stock so that you can return the phone as though you never did anything to it

sweet. i guess i cant fix my phone. good thing i only got it 3 days ago.
whats a good thing to tell them when returning my phone?

if your phone is not messed up then there is no reason to return it. if you keep it at stock rc29 then it will update to 1.5 firmware within 72 hours supposedly or if you still want root follow these steps in this thread. this is the probably the most reliable way to root your phone, and since it is not as automated as some of the other threads, you might learn some things about your phone in the process http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480

well the thing is im stuck at the G1 boot screen.
and cant get it to do anything after that.
so i might as well save me time and just return it tomorrow

do you have a modified recovery image on the phone or were you able to get that far. if not just take it by where you got it and tell them you got an ota update then wouldn't boot up past the g1 screen

i got that it back to looking stock. so that is better if they try to do a hard reset for me.
yeah ill just tell them that an ota did it. cuz the phone is only 3 days old so im sure theyll say "oh yeah it must of been cupcake"

stuck in boot loop android is starting optimizing apps after update

sorry if this has been covered but i cant find anything the same as my situation and im pretty stuck.
I have just bought a nexus 6 and the phone prompted me to update to 5.1 so i have, once it restarted i am now stuck in a boot loop with it saying optimizing apps then restarts and the same again, i have tried booting into recovery and wipe data but just get the same.
I have tried using nexus root toolkit (wugsfresh) however cannot find fastboot connectivity so im stuck there.
The phone is not rooted and i cant seem to get access through adb ( i have not turned usb debugging on as the phone is new)
I really am not too clued up so im sorry if i need things explaining abit more.

flash a factory image, your update went no good. if you havent ever done this, i DO NOT RECOMMEND using a toolkit. toolkits are good for people who know what they are doing. if you dont kniw, you will remain clueless, and could make things much worse.

am i able to flash a factory image without being able to connect the device via adb? i just wasnt able to find the device on it

factory images are only flashed while youre in your bootloader, via fastboot. thetes a stick for directions in the general thread.

right got it sorted thanks for the help now its saying i have an update for 5.1.1 is it worth doing this or is there a strong chance it will bootloop again ?

I'd suggest avoiding the OTA's and fastboot flash the latest factory image. LMY48I

is it worth it? YES! if you want, you can flaah the factory image for 5.1.1 instead of taking the ota. but chances are that the ota will be fine.

How did u get it sorted? I just had a friend call me with exactly the same problem! He's not very tech savvy so it's proving difficult talking him thru it, so if u found an easy solution for me to pass on that would be great ?

As stated before. Forget OTA. Unlock bootloader and fastboot flash the images manually. Do not take OTA with bootloader locked. If OTA fails have to RMA. No fix.

I had the same issue today and like PRDOG1 said I was talking to him on my forum post. As soon as you get the phone unlock that bootloader, then just do flashes through the bootloader. It is safer, and as long as that bootloader is unlocked you can go ahead and load up any image you want thats factory and you will be fine.

Well it should be fine then coz the carriers in Aussie don't lock bootloaders. I just told him to bring the phone to me n I'll re-flash a stock image for him but I thought u may have found another way as I'm more familiar with Samsung and Windows than I am with Nexus. It seems pretty common this bootloop stuff after OTA with the N6.

I suspect you are confusing carrier SIM lock with bootloader lock.
Carriers do not usually do anything with bootloader lock - they may force a SIM lock to their SIM cards however.
On the Nexus 6 however, unlocking the bootloader is pretty easy (assuming you can boot to the OS and select the option to allow OEM unlock). I'd recommend leaving the bootloader unlocked and flashing twrp asap, in case of any issues later.

Altho in Australia they don't carrier lock bootloaders the software comes locked for security reasons. If he didn"t unlock prior to the OTA update it is bricked and will require RMA.

unrootable (prototype N6)

hey everyone just picked up a prototype N6 from a buddy and having serious issues rooting this verion. i have rooted my other N6 with no issues but this build (shamu-userdebug l lrw80j 1454210 dev-keys) just wont seem to work if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great ty. this version included a power button on the back of the phone which was nice and why it caught my eye.

What have you tried and where does it fail?
Root is usually unlock bootloader, flash recovery, flash supersu from recovery.
The problem you may have if the hardware is different is that the kernel would then be different, meaning there wont be a version of TWRP with a bootable kernel for your device. So just like you cannot run TWRP for a HTC on the Nexus 6, that could be the same case.

oh ok i see what you mean. everytime it gets to the try to temp load twrp it never seems to boot up im using the toolkit .and now it seems that i can't even boot into the system anymore just into fast boot but i can still use the flash boot flash options in root tool kit and i think you are so right about the kernel but just dont know which one to use i tried restoring /baseband /boot/system with a orignal factory 6.0 but individually but not working . is there a different method you think i can try? ty for your help.

If you're going to root, recovery is important.
There are apps that can root once booted into android, but you're playing with fire, especially if there hardware is different - as that means you will not have a factory image to flash either. These things are best kept untouched.

Great and I just messed up this systems IMG. cause I'm just stuck at the fastboot now I hope there is away around this. I had a feeling I shouldn't have gotten this version but wanted to be different now it just cost me smfh. Here are the pics of the phone and info

I cant think of a way around it. You could try flashing a stock system.img via fastboot but I cant say I'm hopeful and likely will make things worse. Without custom recovery, it is unlikely that you can repair it.
You can of course try and factory reset it. Who knows, may make it boot?

Yea flashing the system. IMG in fastboot made it worst well I used the new android m system so maybe that's why. Not looking good I hope I can get some answers soon or if maybe someone can mod a system. IMG I can use with this hardware .

It does, but it definitely does have an engineering bootloader and says shamu XT1103, so it's another one of "those"

yup. i bet it was the moto x pro, but in development still. they probably used all the shamu software on it at first. im curious whether it would take the moto x pro software.

I'm going to try to flash a stock N6 ROM to see if it will load.

Is this prototype the one with fingerprints sensor on the back?

It has a power button on the back.

returning to stock.. no pin

Can't figure out how to disable it asking for the PIN at initial boot.. I'm returning to Tmobile(JUMP).. I'm assuming they'll have a problem with this. I miss good 'ol odin , just flash stock. Any info or help to get it back to stock would be appreciated, it's been well over a year since I've rooted/unlocked and I'm going to start restoring tonight.

Odin?!?! With Nexus devices you can use fastboot which is much more powerful than Odin.
Here are factory images for Nexus devices and on the page are included instructions on how to return to stock.

its a google security feature. even if you factory reset 10 times, itll still ask for your pin. just enter it, then you can change it. or did you steal the phone? btw, thats why its there, so no one can steal your phone, factory reset it, then use it.

Thanks for the input.. didn't know it was a google feature, was thinking it was something with the rom I installed since it started around that time(cataclysm). Anyway.. I got it figured out.. downloaded stock image and ran the flashalll.bat .. sheesh that was easy.

the only issue others could have is flash-all not working. to get around that, you just flash each part separately.

[Question] S6 Flat SM-G920T 6.0.1 Rooting

Hello Everyone!
Quick (stupid) question. How would one root the Samsung Galaxy S6 (Flat, T-Mobile Variant) running Android 6.0.1 (Stock)? Last night (As of this post) I've tried installing TWRP but ended in a bootloop at the Samsung logo, and (Thankfully) Smart Switch saved my ass. At this point, tripping KNOX isn't of my concern, as my phone's warranty has expired. Attached is my phone's Model, Build, etc.
Any help is appreciated.

Looking through all the builds, I don't see my build number. The closest one to mine (which is MMB29K.G920TUVU4EPF1), is MMB29K.G920TUVU3EPD1. Now, I would use this, but I don't want a 600$ brick, so unless it's compatible with my build, I'm gonna have to wait.

Ah, yeah, looks like you're running the latest update and it seems to early to tell if CF-Auto-Root will even work on it (I don't think anyone has tried yet).

Thanks for the reply. Hmm...last time I flashed TWRP on my phone, It got stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy" logo, stayed there no matter what, thankfully I was able to use "Emergency Firmware Reset." I've been snooping around forms, and some people state to, "UNCHECK AUTO REBOOT, when finished installing, reboot manually." Of course, I'm hesitant to try that, after all Smart Switch only backs up photos, videos, apps, etc, but not the actual Android operating system.

I'm gonna do a back up of what I can and try EncryptedCurse's suggestion. Wish me luck!

Did as instructed, still didn't work, freezes and shuts down at the Samsung Logo. Doing a Emergency Device Initialization now, and then restoring my stuff. Thanks anyway, I knew I shouldn't have updated to 6.0... :sigh:

So im guessing theres no way to root it yet huh?

From what I've tried, no. I had a feeling this would happen as soon as I upgraded.

On a side note, is anyone developing a kernel for build MMB29K.G920TUVU4EPF1? Twisted Six's kernel only goes up to EPD1...

What if you just downgrade back to lolipop ??
