Hi,
I use dual sim and one is for phone calls and one for internet connection. When I make a phone call, there is no connection to the internet. Navigation with google maps says that it is offline and no messages or mails are received. When the call ends. The connection is working again. During the call the Mi8 shows 4G for both sim cards.
Is this a configuraton problem?
Hi!
There is not active-active SIM card slots, it means that if you do a phone call with SIM1, SIM2 will be off-line during the call.
Try this, go to settings and in the search bar on top write: unrestricted data
Open the menu, more, show system and find Phone... Enable it and try it again see if this solve your problem.

Try this: set your region to Hong Kong, then reboot your phone. Once it's on, go to the Sim Cards & Mobile Networks option and enable VoLTE on both Sim 1 and Sim 2. Then give it another go.
Hi, thank you for your replies. It works now with VoLTE, but only if the connection is set to SIM1. SIM2 is off during calls.

Hi
I am in Kolkata India and recently switched from a 2G to a 3G plan with Vodafone Kolkata. Ever since then, my problem is that I am unable to connect to 3G using WCDMA. Neither voice nor data works. If I revert to GSM only, then voice and 2G works fine. Wifi has been fine and my saviour at home.
Phone details: Sony Xperia SP C5302 running Android 4.3 build 12.1.A.1.205.
I have confirmed with network service that it is not a SIM card issue, by carrying out the foll. tests already
1- Signal strength in the area of use : At the time when I am unable to connect to 3G, my colleague sitting in the next desk and using a Motorola phone is consistently able to connect to the same 3G network from his phone. So the network strength must be fine.
2- SIM damaged or dirty - I have obtained a new SIM card as replacement, after this problem started, from my service provider yesterday. But the problem is not resolved.
3- Manual network search and connection - I have tried this many times, using WCDMA only or WCDMA(Preferred) options. In either case, only on rare occasions, the phone was able to connect to a network. However, 3G data connection (H+ icon) did not show and then the phone disconnects from network. On most occasions, when I manually attempt to connect to the 3G network, I get the message "Could not register to the selected network. Make sure SIM is inserted."
3- Trying different SIM/Handset - I have tried out both options of switching SIM and handset.
- My SIM on Motorola handset - connects to H+
- Another SIM on my Sony - momentarily connects, then disconnects and then does not connect to network.
Please let me know if anyone has faced similar issues and found any resolution. Thank you in advance.

I think that there's an option to use 2G instead of 3G in the settings menu, have you checked to see if that is enabled?

That is the WCDMA option I've mentioned about, there was no other setting for this.
Anyways, it turned out to be a hardware problem. Got the "mother-board" replaced for free as it was under warranty & now working fine!

Good to see that you've sorted out the problem!
Could you explain how dual sim works?
Does it work at the same time or have to switch between sim1 or sim 2?
For example
Use SIM1 one for internet browsing – somebody will call me on SIM1 or SIM2. Will phone ringing on both? Or for SIM2 calls have to switch to SIM2?
interested to know as well.

You have to turn call forwarding active.
Under sim card manager, lase section general you need to select dual sim always on. with this if you are speaking on sim one and you get a call on sim two it will come on sim one as it will get forwarded. so you wont miss calls from either sim even if you care on a call.
For internet both card slots have 4g but only one is active 4g and second will be 2g. you can select whichever you want.
I have N9208 and assume it is the same for dula sim Note phones.

So there is no way to get calls to both SIMs without calls forwarding?

Not 100% sure but don't think so mate.
You'll get calls to both sims when idle, unless you're already talking on one. That's when you need call forwarding, so you won't miss second call.

Yes. While downloading if you're setup to use data on sim 1, you'll get call on sim 2. When you pick up that call download will stop I think. Not 100 percent sure cause different phones have different arrangements... If your call comes on sim 1 the data will continue to download. Vice versa.

Hi. I have a galaxy note 5 dual sim (n9208) and when I'm on a call on sim 1 (configured as 2G), automatically i lose the internet connection in the sim 2 (configured as 3g/LTE, but my network is just 3G) and I stay without internet connection all the time while I'm on the call.
I have set the sim 1 only for calls (2g) and the sim 2 only for the internet (3 / LTE but my network is only 3g).
It is very inconvenient not to have internet connection while you are talking on the phone you can not receive a whatsapp or browse.
There is a way to solve this problem?
Thank you.
I was using single SIM so far, while receiving a call, 4G would change to 3G but will still stay connected, so Truecaller would work.
Currently, I'm using a second SIM for 4G connectivity, and SIM 1 only far calls, but the moment I receive a call, SIM 2 looses data connectivity and Truecaller can't fetch any details about the number.
Anyone knows any workaround for that ?

I am facing the same issue , anyone please provide a fix , my truecaller also not showing details of calls.
Hi,
Got the note 9 since friday. working great. but i noticed that when i call on sim2, i can use mobile data of sim 1.
Default mobile data is from sim1. and phone calls are set to ask every time.
now my sim2 is my work number. during the working hours i call alot with this number.
my sim 1 is my private sub from t-mobile. and i mainly use the data plan of it. since i dont wanna use the internet that my boss pay's for for my personal use.
Now since i got this setup. what happends is. some one texts me a foto through whatsapp. and then calls me to sim2 before i can look / dowload the picture. then when i pickup the phone they ask me did u see the picture i sent you. i then open whatsapp. but i get the msg no network.
what i noticed is that when i call on sim1 i still have LTE data. (cause sim1 provides the data)
so it cant use data from sim 1 and voice from sim2 at the same time?
also is there a way to set certain apps to use data of a specific sim card?
lets say i open my 2nd whatsapp that it loads the images sent there from my sim2 network
but when i open my 1st whatsapp (2nd app cloning) it uses data from sim1?
or any other apps for exmp chrome and samsung internet?
is there any tweak that automates the switch data to sim2 as soon as i make a call with sim2?
now i can just click on the sim settings menu and change the default data to sim2 to receive data during the call. but when im driving in my car this are alot of buttons to press and i rather not.
i don't own N9 yet. read about dual sim technology varieties on the net, theoretically N9 should be able to get dual VOLTE feature on both SIMs (assuming it supported by carrier(s), and phone shows VOLTE icon on both SIMs). in the event you are making call on SIM 1 & trying to get data on SIM 2 or vice versa, this requires dual sims dual volte (DSDV) feature kicks in and liberates you to choose which SIM to get data from.
might really want to consult with your carrier(s) if both SIM support VOLTE.
Are you able to get VoLTE and WiFi calling to work on the international dual sim F variant of Note-9 on US T-mobile network?
Hi I have a Nokia 8 (TA-1004) which is dual sim.
I have a 3 sim and a plus net sim installed.
When I select the default sim for data it works, same for messaging.
BUT when I open the selection for calls i cannot change it from "ask every call" to either of the sims though it looks like it should be possible.
Anyone come across this before? what is the answer? phone is latest OTA updates.
Nokia 8 not permitting selection of preferred sim for calls
Hello I have exactly the same problem as described below by Pontprennau. Also on a Nokia 8 (TA-1004) in the Network & Internet screen under "SIM cards" and then "Calls". Setting preferred sim for sms and data are permissable for both Sim 1 and Sim 2, but setting the preferred sim for calls is not permissable and continuously force-defaults back to the "Ask every Time".
Can't imagine that the network provider has anything do with this problem though ie whether it is a T-Mobile, 3 or any other network.
If any information/resolution on this are available would be much appreciated. I have the latest OTA updates provided by Nokia/HMD Global.
Thanks

I had same problem in Oreo, but Pie update fixed it.
Sim selection option available in call settings not in sim settings
