Been using my HTC One now since it's release day and although I wasn't a huge fan when it came out, it's grown on me like moss and i'm now 100% confident that I made the right choice in getting this instead of the S4.
However......
On my daily commute to work, a journey I've been taking for over two years now, I seem to have less signal than all the phones before this one ?
It's the same sim card, same number and the same network.
What happens is the signal will go really low to around 1 - 2 bars and the mobile data connection will teeter around Edge and 3G and come back up to H in parts.
My previous handset as you can see from my signature was a galaxy s3, it didn't ever drop below 3G, was mostly on H and never once went to Edge, on the same trip for well over a year, I've also used an EVO 3D which acted in the same manner as the S3, but the HTC One is really annoying me now as I'm not able to check things on the internet and such, which I've been able to do for as I said a few years now on previous handsets.
I'm currently on Venom rom 1.2.1 and I have an Orange Sim card in the UK.
My baseband is 4A.13.3231.27_10.31.1131.05L
I did try another Radio, however it had little impact on the reception and I was just wondering if anyone else had witnessed similar drops in signal quality themselves?
I'm using a case too, I have three, Double dip flip, Double dip and a silicone case, I've also had the phone without a case and it makes no difference at all.
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.
same problm
I'm in the US , recently unlocked my but but mine all of the sudden drops from 4 bars to no signal. I have noticed that while I have WiFi on, the network signal seems more stable. I've been reading a lot of ppl have the same problm.
I am on TMo in London. When I first got the phone my signal was awesome. I had H with 3 plus bars all the time all the way from home to work, in work, at home. Since the update I have the exact same issue as you. I lose signal completely, it goes to E a lot of the time now. All in all a very poor experience. I was thinking of installing the original radio to see if that would do the trick(I think it was mentioned that the new update had a new radio). I just do not want to root and lose my warranty. I am getting pretty p'd off though so may just take the plunge

I'm in the same boat with you guys. My signal varies a lot from H+ to 3G and E and few times is just disappearing completely, taking a good 1-2 minutes until it comes back. I tried like 4 different radios, all with the same behavior.
I'm on GE 4.3 ... stock.
issue solved

I was also facing the same issue. Finally realized that it was because my network setting was on GSM or WCDMA i.e. 3G.
I changed my network to 2G and everything is fine.
try this out.
same issue!!
Is it possible 2b a Hardware problem !
For those who have the device, how does your wifi signal strength compare. Sitting at my desk, I get no bars now where on my OneX I got 2 or 3.

Same issue here on a phone from O2 with the latest software installed.
Compared to an iphone 5 struggles to hang onto signal. Tried both bands as well, same issue.
I can see my work wifi in a location I frequent with previous phones.
I can connect and use it even though it gives me just a dot for the signal. other phones struggle in this same location.
Perhaps try turning off Wifi power saving in the settings

Has turning wifi power saving off, has this helped?.. for me this has made no difference

No wifi issues here what so ever
yeah its pretty bad for me. next room and i'm down to "1 bar" when on all of my other devices i'd get 4 or 5
guys from what I've seen don't go by the little signal strength indicator on the notification bar as it doesn't really reflect what's actually happening, I had a XZU for a few weeks and a Z before that, I can pick up wifi connections on both the XZU and Z1 were the Z was out of range, I was sitting in a bar last night connected to a wifi AP that was about 100m away and there are structures and people in-between, the Z1 is as good as the ZU when connecting to wifi and both are better than the Z

Wifi on my Z1 C6903 seems really poor.
Connected to 5Ghz on a dual band wifi router situated in the tv room. I don't get any connectivity from my room which is around 10m away.
I used to get decent connectivity on my iphone 5 - speedtest of around 14mbps. I can't even connect to speedtest on my Z1.
On a sidenote - what is with the headphone button not working. Had to update to .534 after much googling. Also, the new firmware doesn't help the wifi issues. Who knows how long we'll have to wait for a fix ...which may or may not improve it.
Also, did try to turn off the wifi power saving "feature" as well. Didn't do much.
Anyways that's my feedback.
same here! very bad connection with the xperia z1.
Yep poor wifi performance, I hope we get a software fix soon
Same here, disconnects from wifi a lot.

In OP, I said compared to my previous phone. Also, have trouble with mobile data being very slow. With that being said, I have moved provider to EE but they are supposed to have decent coverage.
Not sure now whether to return and get a new one or get the Notes 3 instead.

No Wi-fi issues here at all.. Even with the door closed, when I got to the next room, get plenty of signal and speed...

You might want to move to 4G... EE 3G is so slow... I get 10 times the speed I used to get on EE 3G now that I'm on EE 4G...

Basically it is rubbish so far. The signal and speed is not as good as other devices.
Interested in hearing more from people who say it is fine.
Fine compared to what? Can you give examples?
---------- Post added at 04:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:41 PM ----------
As an example between Z1 and a 5S.
Same router, same distance.
Speedtest.net app on each phone.
Z1
Ping: 248ms
Down: 0.42
Up: 1.25
5S
Ping: 45ms
Down: 17.49
Up: 2.5
(I have around 20mbit fibre with around 3-4mbit up)
How frustrating, I was looking at upgrading to this phone, and reading most of the posts floating around I am having huge deja vu experiences with the newly launched Xperia Z and the pains associated with being some of the first. I feel for you all.
While we are talking WIFI, anyone tested the 802.11ac bands?

I did a proper test yesterday. Closed my living room door (living room is where router is) and closed my own room's door... Got plenty of signal and about 33Mb/s which is good considering my connection is a 50Mb/s one.. Get about 48 on my laptop which is very near router...Don't see any issues here
We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the LG V20's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add.
Unfortunately, the signal strength is really poor for me
Good signal for me, Lte slows down to less than 2Mbps down while my s7 is doing 34Mbps avg. Im on at&t.
Not enjoying the quality I'm getting, even at home. 2 bars average, and this is in the Dallas area.
Worse than my Note 3, so I don't blame AT&T.
Glad to know I'm not the only one with speed issues. I was thinking there was something wrong with my phone.
I have issues indoors at my job but my Note 7 was the same way too at my job
A lot better than my Note 7. I tested this morning because I am finally getting around to setting up the phone the way I like. It tested at 80/16 which the Note 7 would only speed test at 23/12. This was at home.
Saw a report that the S7/Edge got an update to support 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM down and 64QAM up
Also supposedly the V20 supports this but hasn't been turned on for us (seriously WTF)
http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/1...-mimo-256qam-technologies-faster-data-speeds/
From I what I have read on Reddit from posts by Qualcomm engineers, the LG v20 does not support mimo. It lacks the additional anttenas for mimo, though it does support 256 QAM. I was tempted to get the s7 edge, but AT&T doesn't support MiMo or have any plans of implementing it in the near future.
I'm always at 1 or 2 bars. I often get "no service"
Most of the time I get 0 bars with an X, or full bars with 4G but no LTE, where i used to get LTE with my previous phone, I think this phone has a weak antenna
I need some kind of hardware mod. Anyone know where is the antenna in the phone?

I have the opposite experience, I get better service with this phone. Maybe yours is defective.

I'm with the 1-2 bar group. My Nexus 5x and Samsung S8 are guaranteed to have 2 more bars than my V20, no matter where I go. I also get the spinning circle near the signal meter indicating it's searching. I've downloaded several apps to confirm my suspicion that this phone's antenna(s) suck. I like the phone, but signal is important when it affects your ability to communicate, not to mention drain on battery.
I think a phone of this size shouldn't be any of bad reception, especially with so many metal contacts within its cover, which must act as antenna.
i have really bad / unreliable reception.
i rooted the phone.
might it be a firmware problem? could i flash it? i believe the firmware that was linked in the instructions was for canada... i'm in europe germany
right now i've got the Alpha Omega ROM installed.
Purchased an AT&T version of the v20 off Ebay h910. What I have learned is the antennas are in the polycarbonate end-caps. GPS would not work for me at all on a clear day outside. Found a thread on the Internet that identified the problem, some replacement end caps do not have the antenna contacts in them. Google "becareful_buying_the_top_plastic_bezel_of_the_v20" for the thread on the fix. I found an additional thread on fixing the call reception but it did not work for me, search "v20-signal-issues". Hope this helps as I spent hours and hours trying things until I found the gps fix. The GPS is in the top end cap confirmed, the 3g is supposedly the 3rd contact in the bottom end cap but can't confirm.
I still have yet to identify my horrible signal strength. The antenna connectors on mainboard were just there with no plugs. Imma check tomorrow if my phone has this stuff in top and bottom caps.

Good Afternoon all,
Here is my story -
Upgraded my S8+ to the S10+ . . . had the Galaxy range since S2 and had a few others in between - I had two S10+ in the space of a month, one was a launch day one and other was replacement after 20 days which upon checking was made 9th March - Both suffered from a noticeable battery drain while using 4G, I did a day to day comparison which I later showed EE - On Wifi my S10+ was amazing (Over 8h SOT) on 4G however it struggled to get close to 4h SOT.
Okay so EE saw this and said with this in mind they would allow a chance to cancel my contract and start again - I decided on the P30 Pro as I frankly didn't wanna try the S10+ again - a shame as its a nice phone.
I have my P30 Pro now - There was 52% battery when I turned it on and I like to use the first bit of battery down to 0% and do a few cycles. I've noticed a similar issue - on 4G the battery seems to be doing the same - on idle it drops while 4G is on - now I know there will be background stuff happening and there is - I looked into usage and I do like how they split the hardware and software usage up - kudos Huawei - the software usage in my case seems nuts - most apps are saying running - even camera is saying running - swipe up to say open apps and nothing.
Starting to wonder if UK networks are having signal trouble, really not sure :/
Any help guys?
Cheers
Where I work we have people in constantly complaining about EE and it always seems to be the 4g side of it. Lecally no one seems to be able to make calls while 4g is active in the settings menu. We have been putting people onto 3g/4g just so they can make calls. With WiFi calling also is a complete other story as there seem to be a problem there also. It's 9 times out of 10 either samsung or apple devices tho and Huawei seem to be alot better so that maybe be the factor that EE arnt very good. Our work place deals with provider stores in the area as I work at a repair shop and they seem to blame the "EE transition to 5g" for signal issues
Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
On EE with my P30P and there's nothing unusual about my battery drain using 4G... Are you in an area of poor signal? Hope it gets sorted so your battery life is as epic as mine!
I do seem to have problems with WiFi calling every now and then though.....
I have bought this phone (galaxy m31) three months ago.
But, after each update, phone gets worse and worse.
Call quality, Cellular strength and throughput, ESPECIALLY internet speed is getting worse and worse.
Do you have any idea?

My phone got better after the One UI 3 update. Maybe you should get that. If that doesn't fix your problems, maybe you could ask your warranty service to replace your phone with a new one.
