Hi, I bought a Samsung Galaxy Core II through my carrier's shop a week ago. I already rooted the phone. I'm also using Nova launcher 3.3 (latest), and everything else is stock. Core II came with Android 4.4.2 installed, carrier's version, but as I am a superuser, I've deleted a lot of useless stuff.
The question:
¿Can I install Xposed framework and GravityBox [KK] in this device?
This is what I'd install if someone here confirms that I can:
Xposed Installer 2.7 experimental1: http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
GravityBox [KK] 3.5.1: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.ceco.kitkat.gravitybox
Is it OK?
I've noticed, reading GravityBox's thread, this:
Compatibility
- Supports AOSP devices running vanilla Android 4.4
- Supports Motorola Moto G Dual SIM running stock KitKat
- Supports ThL 5000 running stock KitKat and potentially other MediaTek devices running pure MediaTek ROMs
- DOES NOT support devices running ROMs vastly modified by device manufacturers (HTC Sense, Samsung Touchwiz, MIUI, LeWa, Xperia, ...)
- SHOULD NOT be used with custom ROMs like CM, AOSPA, RootBox, SlimBean and others - it makes no sense since the most of the features are already
in the ROM (may cause conflicts and unexpected behaviour)

Does that mean that if you have a Samsung, Xperia, HTC... mobile, GravityBox won't work due to compatibility issues?
My goal is to change the function of the volume buttons to only modify the volume of "Music, video, games and other media", in every situation, so it doesn't matter if I'm in the home screen, in YouTube App or using Chrome, always change the "Music, etc" volume, not Notification's one, or Ringtone's, or system's. So if I accidentally press volume up, the phone does not changes from Mute to Sound, or changes the volume of the ringtone, and all that stuff. They told me that I can accomplish that with GravityBox.
Thanks, hope someone here can help me out!
Yes you can i have the same device and i installed xposed and gravity box and both worked well

Wow, thank you. Installed and working nicely. How awesome is GravityBox!
on my core 2 it says ''xopsed is not (yet) compatible with Android SDK version 19 or your processor architecture (armeabi-v7a).'' and so the install/update button is not highlighted.

Use the latest (v2.7 experimental1) Xposed.apk file from here.
Not compatible with core 2
I installedxxposed on core2 but it says not compatiblewith SDK 19. I installed a custom rom to make it run, but the rom was unstable so I had to go back to default Samsung core2 rom and now xposed is not working on the default Samsung rom. Amy way to make it run?

So you are running a KitKat ROM, right? You should use the Xposed v2.7 experimental1 from the Xposed repo.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Core 2 "SM-G355HN". There are other Samsung Galaxy Core 2 models that may behave different. It was very easy, though I did it long time ago, I don't remember well. I just followed the very simple and easy steps. First, I installed the Xposed framework, and then the module Gravity Box (for KitKat). But I don't remember the exact steps I did, sorry.
Same problem..framework wont update...bt i did it 1st time.. after uninstall it i cant update now...in galaxy core2..
firmware issue
my dear..............
ive searched solution for this problem because i already hv that problem you just download the old firmware of core 2 1 or two years back from sam mobile flash it root it again you will see xposed working im indeed a happy user of core 2 once again happy hacking......

Try the "xposed-v78-sdk21-arm64.zip" but be prepared to uninstall it if it doesn't work.
You will get more responses if you post in the General section to this forum, not in the Developer forums.
it works........
xposed-v78-sdk21-arm64.zip i used the same zip...........
Mine phone is not getting start.only showing lenovo logo
I faced same problem, In old stock builds xposed-v78 only works and the latest builds xposed-v79 only works.
I don't know the margin between them so you must be ready with uninstall zip file
approximately all other roms xposed-v79 works fine on them
it may take about 10 minutes in the first time till phone open.

Hi,
I can't seem to find the proper zip for this. Would it be 21 or something completely different. I'm still running Kitkat (for my own reasons) but everything seems to focus on 5.0 and higher.
Regards.
You dont't need an extra flashable zip, you can just install Xposed directly in Xposed-Installer:
http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
Oh.. Cheers! I remembering flashing a zip on another device, some time ago.

KitKat Xposed doesn't use a flashable zip. The framework is installed via the installer. Version 2.6.1 I believe.

Thanks for responding. Actually I can't install Xposed the way you did it (i.e. by installing the application) because my phone is not rooted. So the Installer can't mount the /system partition as rw and make changes to /system/bin/app_process. That's the reason why I have to flash it's zip file through the custom recovery (TWRP in my case). So I was looking for a zip file that would be stable for the given specification of my phone. As not any version can work with any phone . I downloaded a zip from github but that was meant for SDK 21 and above . In fact the Installer that you used, does the same changes to the /system/bin/app_process, just by having root access. Anyway, hope one gives me a link to that zip.

Hi @pingaan !
Same problem here . . I cant find a zip for my Kitkat 4.4.2 . They are all busy with Lollipop and Marshmallow. In our case SDK version is 19. You can check your SDK version and other such details by apps in Play Store (Droid Info is one such app). Plzzzz do let me know if u find a zip for our version.
As far as I know there was never a zip for KitKat. If there was I've never seen it.

I think you are right . . as I have explored almost everywhere but I couldn't find it. But then I wonder . . wouldn't it be a very easy task for expert android buffs here on XDA to just make a flashable zip of the core files of Xposed ?? I am not good at it . . else I would have given it a shot. In case you know any such expert member here (who is also wiling to help) for this simple task . . Plzzzz do let me know.
@The-HAWK,

The UNITY all-in-one Xposed package (framework, installer app, tweaks) says it supports KitKat and above.
After work I'm going to see if it does work with KitKat on my LG G3.

You're referring to the Xposed installer app (by DVDAndroid), not the Xposed framework.
Xposed Framework for KitKat has no updates. No development on that front for a couple of years.
As far as the installer app goes, there's no need to update that. Later versions of DVDAndroid's installer may support KK but not sure there's any benefit to updating.
Best to ask in his thread.

Hi,
I have installed Xposed framework 3.0 alpha in my Moto G (XT 1033). It shows message- 'Xposed framework version 86 is active' but I am unable to click the 'Install/Update' button under Framework as it seems disabled. I tried setting SE Linux mode to Permissive (using SELinuxModeChanger) and rebooted. Still the buttons are disabled. I also tried installing other version of Xposed but they show a message like 'Xposed framwork is not installed...'. I am using Android 5.0.2. Please help me.
Thanks you.

If I'm not mistaken, on LP and MM, installation and update needs to be done manually.

Hello,
I seem to have installed Xposed successfully, because in the Xposed app it says, I have installed Xposed Framework v89 successfully.
however it does not seem to work.
I have installed the Module MinMinGuard and it says Xposed is not enabled.
How can I verify if it works or not?
I installed the official Xposed Version.
I remember, that some time in the past I had to install wanams Version for Xposed to works, but since I can only find old Versions, I would like to use the official version.
How can I get it to work?
I use Resurrection Remix ROM v5. 8.2, which is Nougat 7.1.1
Thanks

The exposed installer app main screen will tell you if the exposed framework itself is active or not. After installing MinMin guard did you reboot. Also in installer menu under modules make sure the module is checked then reboot.

Yes, I rebooted.
I have now uninstalled MinMinGuard, but I can not install it again.
It download the addon, but when the download has finished, there is no button to install it, like there used to be.
Does the official Xposed work with a S5 and my CustomROM or only wanams Version?
If I remember correctly, in the past I was only able to install wanams version, but it seems to be outdated by now.
I also get a notification, that I have to update Xposed, but I don't know where to find a newer Version

I am using official rovo's ver 89 on stock 7.0 rom with no issues. I believe exposed is more firmware and architecture related rather than device(with exceptions of course).
As to to custom ROMs I am not sure as I having only used stock ROMs but there are threads here on XDA for your rom. If exposed was not going to work on your device I would think you would know about it.
MimMin Guard(ver 2.0.2) is working for me. I have only been using it for a short time (running 2 other ad blockers as well) have noticed that there are no notifications to say if it is blocking or not unless you open app up and scroll through app lists.
When downloading modules is complete it installs automatically then should tell you to reboot.
Not to sound like a broken record but remember when un/installing reboot.
I believe wanums versions are for Samsung devices on lollipop/marshmellow.
As to updates as far as I know there are none yet for nougat unless you have magisk version or an unofficial version.
Link below is for minmin guard thread for more info
