I changed the Drawing > 'Smallest width' setting in 'Developer options' to 411 dp but when I restart the phone, it restores back to 360 dp.
This did not used to occur on my Samsung Galaxy S8+, so I'm not sure that it's specifically an Android thing.
EMUI 9.1.0.124 (though it also occurred on EMUI 9.1.0.113).
Any ideas?
Could be a bug with that as it works fine on EMUI 9 on other models.
It's a Huawei thing. I could never retain my settings since the Mate 20 days.
Anything you set over there get reverted to default after a reboot.
This is the case with Mate 20 Pro also.
I believe it is a Huawei thing and don't know why it really happens.

I change many options, such as the DPI and the default USB connection action.

As it says in the title, does EmotionUI 4.1 of the P9 have the view mode setting to change the dpi settings of the phone?
I was playing with a P9 at local store and noticed that the icons are huge. Compared it with the Galaxy S7 that was next to it, which was set to condensed mode, on same XDA page the S7 displayed more than a third more. I remember that Huawei P8 has the ability to decrease dpi setting with the view setting. Had a quick peek in the P9 settings but didn't see it.
I can't see any setting for it. In the Display section there is a setting for Font size, and in the Battery manager section there is a setting to change the resolution to 720x1280. But no DPI setting as far as I can see.
it is possible via adb! also works without root.
Code:
adb shell wm density 430 && adb reboot
430 is for dpi. stock is 480.
if you go below 430 some elements of the camera app get shifted.
not working anymore
hi.
i cant seem to figure out what im doing wrong. the phone reboots but the dpi dosent change.
it worked the first time, but not anymore.
any tips?

You need to have root and change the DPI on your build.prop
did a factory reset. then tried again and now it worked like a charm. Set the dpi to 360, and the camera stopped working. but it still works on snapchat and facebook messenger.

Maybe we get a setting in the developer settings of the Huawei Mate 9's internal settings to change the emoji style/font?? I would like to get the iOS style on my mate 9 without changing anything wired and root it and all that junk... Just a little button to change it? (I know my English is horrible)

Maybe we can bring this up to Huawei? I switched from a Iphone to the mate 9 and the only thing I have to complain about is the emoji font (
Hello,
only recently I purchased the Huawei P20 Pro (with Android 8) and was very pleased with the timeout option for the lock screen, with allowed me to disable the auto lock for a reasonable amount of minutes after turning off the screen.
However, after the update to Android 9 Pie I cannot find the option anymore. Was it removed or where can I find it? Are there maybe apps that would bring back this option?
Thanks!

The feature seems to be missing on all EMUI 9 phones, i can't find it on the P10 or View 20 either. Strange, it is such a major bug but not reported anywhere!

Hey guys,
I am using the default OS that comes with the Huawei P10, and my phone is not rooted.
After the update to Android 9.0 with EMUI9 the pull down menu (quick menu from notification bar) is unbearable large. It seems like there are different DPI settings for the pull down menu only.
I actually can not stand the large icons, so normally I change to DPI 430 and/or change the size of text/display in the display settings.
However, it seems this does not have any impact anymore on the pull down menu.
Does anyone experience the same and has any idea how to fix this?

It is same for me and unfortunately it is default setting. I didn't try to modify anything with root yet but i seriously doubt that it is even possible to do something like that.
Same here. The dpi wont stick. I hope its just a bug. Not some crappy implementation from huawei.
Hello noticed many times my screen do auto brightness while i have it off.
How do i fix this?
Last official firmware thanks
Unfortunatelly I got the same problem since purchase, none update fixed that. ;/ A bit annoying.
Additionally, after latest update (.190), after every restart the default launcher is set to stock Huawei and I have to go to Settings and change it to Nova Launcher. :/
Its normal for Huawei P Series... it was since p9 or even before!
After Reboot the Settings for autobrightnes restored to default. so it not a bug, its a feature

that was sarcasm with the feature, so you can turn it off yes,.. until next reboot. after reboot you have to disable the autobrightness again :victory:
