When I receive a call in my car whilst I'm using Google Maps to navigate somewhere, the Phone app takes over the whole screen, making seeing the route temporarily impossible.
On my Samsung Galaxy S8+, there was a bar up top you could use to answer or reject the call and if you chose to answer, the call would be in a pop up window.
Is this possible on the P30 Pro?
I have the the same problem didn't find any solution...

When Verizon pushed out the KitKat update for the G2, one of the "features" I discovered is that voice dialing from a bluetooth headset got all messed up. Long-pressing the headset button still brings up a voice dialer, but it's an idiotic voice dialer that can't understand what I'm saying and even if it does, certain numbers it just goes "no entry" even though I have multiple numbers in that person's contact file. It's garbage.
There is a way to completely get rid of this and instead use Google Now when you long-press the button on a bluetooth headset. Steps are as follows:
1. Find and disable the pre-installed app called Voice Command
2. Install the app Bluetooth Launch - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kin.bluetooth_launch&hl=en
3. Open Bluetooth Launch. It's going to be a bit funky looking because it's not optimized for higher-resolution screens. You'll see a bunch of really small text with overlapping buttons on the left. It's ugly, but it'll still work.
4. Scroll down to Google Search, tap on it, and it'll expand a list of a bunch of things. Tap on the one that says 'com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.VoiceSearchActivity'
5. Pair up your bluetooth headset, and long-press the button like you would to voice dial. You should get a popup that asks which app you want to use. Select Google Search and then 'do this always' to set the default.
This should pop you over to Google Now, which can recognize voice commands just fine, unlike the worthless LG Voice Command. It should also make Google Now the default behavior for long pressing the bluetooth headset button.
Nice write up. Stock voice command works well for me along with non NOW search. I've boycotted NOW for it's ridiculous battery drain. At one point NOW and location services were decent in battery saving, recent service updates have made it worse though.
Thank you sir for showing us how to get back to using Google Now. After the latest Google Search update, BT dialing activated Google Dial instead, and this is the only fix I have found for it. So far this is working great on my Sprint Note 3, and I bet it will work for everyone's phone.
I updated to the latest preview of Android L to do a little testing on a few apps that i have in the works. While using the phone for dev reasons, i noticed that the ROM was stable enough for everyday use, so i decided to install Google voice, hangouts messenger and setup Google voice to be my voice-mail of choice. This is where i noticed a issue, when i receive a phone call to my Google voice number, everything works great, hangouts app picks up the call, if i decline the call it goes directly to Google voice-mail. Perfect.. The issue is when people (for some reason) call my normal cell number it will ring and go to the normal dialer, but when i decline the call, it'll ring the hangout's messenger app.
Doing some digging i found that Google setup voice-mail a little different between kitkat (and before) to lollipop. There use to be an option to send calls straight to Voice-mail (whatever is set to default) when you'r busy(declined call) or you don't answer(missed call), now there is no option for this, just different options of numbers to forward too. This wouldn't be an issue using normal voice-mail, but when using Google voice it now forwards the calls to your Google voice number when you decline a phone call from your normal cell number... Besides having two voice-mail numbers, i do not see a work around..
Anyone else seeing this issue and have a solution?
Hi,
We do not need a new thread for this, we are trying to keep all L related issues to either this thread here or a good place could be the thread you created here until it is officially released as some of these bugs/flaws could be fixed by then.

I feel like ever since hangouts was able to handle GV sms I've had issues with making GV calls. I don't want to make voip calls. I want to use the regular cellular net work with my Google voice number. I'd checked that the settings in GV say to only use GV to make calls but people still tell me my other number shows up. It's there a way to resolve this without using voip?
Thanks in advance to anyone who offers advice.
Yes.
Long press on the home screen. Then select widgets. Then scroll until you find "toggle google voice", and drag it to your desktop. Press that and you'll notice the options pop up.
I use this feature quite often when selling tickets via craigslist.
Just got this watch yesterday from Amazon to replace my Sony SW2.
So far so good, but I've good one weird problem. When using the watch to accept an incoming call, the phone (Note4 Edge) answers the call, but immediately starts play on my music app. At 1st it would launch my Subsonic app, but I uninstalled that app and now it launches my music player app.
Strange problem, wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. I don't think I'll be using the function since you still have to use your phone, I just noticed it while testing out the features.
Also, is there any way to have weather as one of the apps on the watch? Saying "OK, Google., then saying Weather" launches the card fine, just wish i could just select a menu item to start the Weather card.
Tony
Not tried answering calls, but I use Weather Timeline. Great app on the phone and watch!
Officially it's not supported, I am aware of it, but maybe there is a solution somewhere ....
I can use Whatsapp and Whatsapp Calls using AA-Mirror but there a few downsides here:
1) I cannot answer Whatsapp Calls, because immediately my AA-mirror screen is switched to the AA-phone screen (but I cannot answer the call, because it's a not supported Whatsapp-call)
2) Placing a call via AA-Mirror requires manually opening Whatsapp, selecting the right contact and press call. It can be done on the car-screen, but it's distracting from the traffic
Another approach is using Tasker and AutoVoice. After pressing the microphone-key on my steering wheel, and 'Ok Google' I can use some shortcuts like 'talk to Contact' which launches Whatsapp, finds the Contact from my contact list, and calls using Whatsapp. It's working on the phone, but when using with Android Auto it's not. Either there is no reaction or I receive a reply 'AutoVoice is not supported on this device'. Ok, I am a beginner with AutoVoice so maybe there is a solution, but at the moment I am stuck here. (if there is interest, I am happy to provide details).
I also 'enabled' AutoVoice and Whatsapp for AA-Mirror (using AA Phenotype Patcher) but it did not help.
Not making this post too long, I am using a Xiaomi A1 running stock Android 8.1, and an Opel Astra
Any ideas and help are welcome!
Once a solution is found I am sure it can be applied to other apps like Skype ... as well
Thanks!
