Hi, I have p30 pro for about 3 weeks now and the software is updated. However, I have noticed in the last few days that battery drain is happening a lot faster than it used to be. I did not install any new apps nor do I have a live theme or notification app... I think I can only get about 5 hours on screen time now, but earlier could do better.. How long does your battery holds and what is your average on-screen time? Also what is the unlocking frequency of yours in the past 7 days or so?

After update, you should clear cache via recovery so it can optimize apps back properly. For me easily 7hours sot with my Samsung gear connected 24/7 + GPS always on and that's with around 15-20% left. Also in App Launch, I don't set it to automatic. I manage them manually allowing those I want and disabling those that I don't need running in the background.

Can assure you that almost everyone here can get 7 hours of SOT. Do you have any rogue apps ? Reboot your phone into recovery, then choose Wipe Cache.

So now it's 2 am, I have charged the phone to 100% at 9:30pm, It has not be used much although it was on mobile data the whole time. This is the result now: 85% baterry, and it says "time awake" 1:06 mins. Does that mean that phone was unlocked and used for 1 hour and 6 mins after being fully charged? Since I don't think I have used it for so long, since I was in cinema for 3 hours, from 10pm until 1:30am, and only unlocked it for couple of times during the movie. Something strange is def going on. I don't have rogue apps, just normal ones and tbh just a few.
Can you please be so kind to type step by step tutorial where to find all that in settings and what to do, because I don't want to mess something up.. Thank you.
i unplugged the phone at 6:30am today its 9 pm. phone has been playing pandora thru BT since 10 am to 7pm still have 50% battery left. cant see how many hours of SOT. Battery life is amazing for me.
I'm expierencing same thing. Only about 4 or 5hrs sot. Something isn't right. Running 131 aoftware

Yes sure, shut down your phone. Then hold volume up and power key. Once you feel a vibration, then release the power button and keep holding the volume key. You should now be in recovery menu. Find Clear Cache. Then reboot when you're done. You wont lose any data. It will optimize all installed apps. The time awake you're referring to in the hardware section is the screen on time. You should also note that if your network coverage is bad, then consumption will be higher too. Try downloading this app to lock it in either 4g/lte or 3g only if coverage is bad in your area : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xsquarestudio.forcelte
Hope that helps. If you're still facing bad battery life, then i reckon you to do a factory reset as a last resort.

Okay, thank you very much, I will do that before my next full charge. Are you sure no data will be lost?
Ps. Update on the battery status. So it is 9:26am now, screen awake time 3:26, battery 66%, 12 hours since last charge. Only on wifi, no mobile data.

Okay thanks about the data info. But not sure whether it's fine because ppl have 7,8 on screen time and have 15-20% remaining.. I will test it today until the battery fully drains to see what screen on time will I get.. Also, one question considering the wipe cache, will it get downgraded to original emui version that was on the phone before the update or will the. 124 update still be present?

No it won't too. Firmware can't be downgraded.
just do factory reset and start over ...
Update. 16:50 now, 23% baterry, 6 hours on screen time, 19h34min since the last charge... So it was yesterday at 9pm fully charged, not a full day of without charging, not to mention two days that others are experiencing.. Tonight I will do the cache cleanup and measure the results in the next couple of days.. If no result achieved I will do a factory reset, hoping it would fix the issue..
I have done the cache clearance, but no difference at all considering the battery drain. Can you share what is the best way to save all data before doing the factory reset? Upload it on some cloud or some other way? Also, are you guys always in normal mode or do you enable power saving mode?

If you're still facing battery drain then i guess you may have restored your apps when you first setup your phone. For call logs, sms and contacts , you may use huawei's in built cloud back up and for photos , use google photos. Then factory reset and don't restore any apps from google. Start fresh.

Hi all
I sent my first nexus 7 back because Google play told me that what i was describing was a software glitch..i then got a 2nd one but that had raised glass, so now i am on my 3rd nexus, and its got the same issue as the first. I will try and explain it as best i can
When i give the battery its first full charge and then use it for the first time for say 1 hour, when i go into battery use it says its been on for 1 hour, so all is good. If i then switch if off and go on it the next say the 1 hour on battery will then go to zero and start again. The weird thing is that it will then record the time i am using it ok for every other time i switch it off and on.
Also and i am sure its related, the screen on time does not track the actual time the screen is on. For instance i was on the nexus for an hour tonight and screen on was not even listed as a battery usage? could this be because i have it set to minimum?? When it does appear the screen on time does not update itself, for eg it will say screen on time 15 minutes 5 seconds, if i then use nexus for another 30 mins and go back to setting and press refresh it will still say screen on time 15 minutes 5 seconds.
Its baffling me !! i have had 2 nexus's do the same thing.
Any ideas on whats going on?
Thanks everyone
Chris
I'll have this like every time when I turn my nexus off when I'm coming from a full wipe (factorey reset)... After a few days it's calibrating itself and all is fine. No drawbacks. It may be a 4.2 problem.. Idk. Sorry :/
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
That's first i heard this issue
P.S i don't turn off my tablet
So the "issue" is that Battery menu does not track the actual usage time?
Tty wiping battery stats through the recovery, should work just fine then
Battery stats are maybe reset by an auto reboot when the nexus is sleeping and you're not using it ?
Just an idea.

In the recovery mode. I'm not sure that stock recovery has that option, but custom recovery do
So unless you are rooted - I'm not sure that you can wipe battery stats by any other means

I sent my phone in for the purple camera problems and I got it back last week.
When I received it, it was updated to 4.3 Sense 5, most likely from the latest RUU.
Since I got my phone back, my battery has been horrendous and I noticed it had heat problems. I checked battery health and it said it's good, so I figured I just needed to re-calibrate my battery so I gave it a week of use. It's been the same horrible battery life.
I checked for wakelocks but there were no significant ones I haven't seen before. I've attached some screenshots of battery use. One thing that confuses me is that it shows Wifi running for 9 hours, even though I had it off for most of that. Is this normal?
To deal with the heat, I had to install a custom kernel and undervolt/underclock a bit. Before flashing, I noticed this thing is forcing itself to max frequency (1.7 GHz) which explains the heat. So the battery is draining because of this, presumably. I switched to intellidemand and lowered the clock a bit so it can last 12 hours (Doing nothing at all) instead, but that's still horrible compared to what I had before I sent it in.
Before I sent my phone in I typically had stock kernel while using insert coin or trick, Power Saver On, Auto-Sync Off, All Play Services/Google Now On and got 4-5 hours OST. Now I can barely get 2 hours.
Does anyone know where I can look to find the cause of my processor forcing itself to max frequency? I want to figure this out before I annoyingly have to send it in again. (Have to S-On/Re-Lock again =\)I was thinking maybe something shorted when they replaced the camera.

Thanks, I guess it's normal then since I never turned that off before.
Now to figure out why the cpu is forcing max frequency all the time on stock kernel/firmware.

if you're rooted use Titanium Backup, and check out Greenify for facebook and similar apps.

That gained me maybe an hour. Just applied a Sense 5.0 4.3 and it seems to be better. 10 hours on idle with 40% left. A lot better than 8 hours to dead. I'll give it a couple days and re-calibrate the battery to see if it's all okay. I've noticed very steep drops from when the screen is on. Thanks again for the help.

Anybody else have crazy battery drain after all the updates and the sync process? I thought the both the round LG watches were supposed to have relatively killer battery life compared to the 360, but day 1, I was at 13% after only 8 hours off the charger (screen = always on). I've just done a full reset and resync, so we'll see how day 2 goes.

Yeah... something's definitely not right. I'm at 11% after about 8 hours of use. And that's with screen off and brightness set to 2.
Can you tell what your other settings are? Did you turn off WiFI or leave it on "Auto'? What apps have you installed?

It is indeed! It took a 2nd factory reset, but it seems to be performing as reasonable levels now. After about 14 hours of charger, Always On screen, WiFi on Auto and pretty heavy notification day (about 200 emails and IMs), I'm just now at 49% battery. That's more like it.
I'm pretty much convinced that a system process or two can get "stuck" when doing a version upgrade in many cases. Doing a factory reset post update seems to always fix the issue.

I'm having similar results as your first run. Was below 15% before I left work. I'm going to try to reset as well.
I had the same exact issue. The first full day I had the watch the battery completely drained in about 8 hours. All my friends at work laughed their asses off on my new watch
Well I went home charged the watch and did a full reset. Today I had the watch from 8am to about 9pm and the battery had 58% left... so definitely reset after all the updates are completed.
The reset itself took almost 30 minutes... is that normal?
Its amazing how quickly the watch charges... in about 15-20 min I had a full charge... I gather its a small battery but still nice to see that.
Yep. It took about 30 minutes for the full reset, including the time it took for all the apps to resync. It's been rock solid for the last 3 days since.
Does anyone know if the navigation battery drain has been fixed in 5.1.1? In 5.0.2 most or all of us are seeing the watch go dead after about a three hour drive.

I still have a Moto 360 on 5.0.2. The navigation battery drain issue is just one more reason I'm thinking of getting the Urbane.
Ah! Sorry... Missed that part. Sounds like 5.1.1 will probably drop before or during Google I/O, so it may be worth sticking it out to see if it helps.
Just a data point. I purchased at the opening gun which isn't long but does add some concern to fact that I've had two random battery drain events during the period. Both times were after the update and I simply recharged and the phone was back to normal battery without any reset. That is with zero apps or market faces installed or used which implies that there is something hanging the watch in the stock firmware.
At the end of the day ( 7am to 10pm) my battery gets down to about 10-15% and thats with the screen off, wifi off and brightness at level 1
I tried a factory reset and now with the same settings i get to around 35%, still an improvement but not the greatest! Any ideas on why this happening / any fixes or settings to turn off? Im thinking of doing a second factory reset as someone said above helped.
Thanks,

Honestly I think that's within the range of acceptability. I can be anywhere from 30-50% after a normal day, depending on usage. I'm convinced that the folks that get 2 full days or more on a single charge basically turn everything off and use mostly stock apps and watchfaces.
Last night, I went from about 7 AM - 1 AM and had about 25% left (always on, brightness 1, wifi auto, step tracking on, etc.). Put it theater mode for sleep tracking app to work, and by 6:45 AM I was at 21%. That's about what I'd expect from these watches at this point.

I had the same when I first installed Oreo.
Then I went to Settings, Device maintenance , Battery, Battery usage and found that android system drained my battery. I un-ticked "Allow background activity" and fixed draining.
You may also give it some time to calibrate battery measurement.
After 6 days with Oreo, I can say it's a little bit better than Nougat regarding battery.

Do you use the built-in app power monitor in settings/battery?
Use Betterbatterystats to see what's going on. Additionally, try a day or two with wifi turned off. I had huge battery drains on nougat when wifi was on and with it off I got 5 days on a single charge!! Maybe the same bug carries over to Oreo? Not sure, but worth a try if you can afford the data usage.
I'm having the same issue, and it's not like Device Maintenance and BetterBatteryStats are showing anything suspicious at all. One night idle time is nice, then on other nights i find it having a decrease of 15%.

Your Android System drain is way too high...something wrong there for sure...
If you haven't already, do a full wipe/ factory reset. This fixes most problems, including battery drain, after a major update.

Wow!! Android system is killing it. Dude, I had the same issue on nougat. Not sure if it'll work on Oreo, but try it: turn off wifi completely. Use cellular if you can for a day or two. Do this after a full recharge so battery stats have resetted so you can see if that makes a difference.
Also, use Betterbatterystats and give it permissions on adb. Post screenshots from that. The one you posted already isn't telling at all.
I downgraded it to Nogut and I think I am fine now. F**k this update. I think this company is intending this sh*t to push up its sales.
Fix for battery drain for Note 8 after upgrading Oreo
1) Go to settings
2) Go to Apps
3) Click on the three dots located in the upper right hand corner.
4) Select "Reset App Preferences"
5) Power your phone off and on again and the battery draining problem should be fixed.

Yes. I am on my phone right now and have been on YouTube this evening with normal battery drain. After the update yesterday my battery was draining for no reason and I had to charge my phone three times. I remembered this fix from the last update when I didn't want to reset my device. I figured it had something to do with all of the Apps utilizing my location, so I wanted to do a reset of the Apps without resetting my device and it worked.
Hi everyone, December update decreased my battery life..now I can't reach more than 6h/ 6:15 of sot while with the same usage I could reach 7:30 h and sometimes 8h..I have also the Wifi issues, what could I do to solve the problem? Merry Christmas ti everyone

I get around 9.5 to 10 hours sot. I took following measures.
1. format phone using recovery.
2. perform graphic test. It will re-install your update.
3.reboot your phone.
4. Setup your phone fresh Do not recover any apps from your google account. Manually install from play store or take a backup of apk's on your memory card/pc.
5. Enter your google account only after entire phne setup is complete.
6. Install all your apps.
7. Setup your apps under Adaptive battery as per requirement.
8. Disable adaptive brightness.
After setting up your phone, messages and other stuff force stop and disable google and google play store(wipe data and cache of both apps). This may seem controversial but it seems Google apps are causing some issues. You can activate them on need basis.
Your battery will drain faster for a week as Adaptive battery learns your battery usage. Post one week it will perform as a charm. Also recalibrate your battery from 15-100% 1-2 times, it might help.
I would also like to point that I am not using Nokia's quick charge but rather Sony's normal charger. It charges a bit slow by also keeps my device cool.
I can confirm this as for the last cycle my Sot was 9hrs 40 mins(90%to 15%) and for previous to last cycle it was around 7 hrs 43 mins(this was when I deactivated google apps and play store at 53%). Sorry I forgot to take screenshot to prove it. Refer screenshot below. I started video loop at 53%. At this time my Sot was 4.5 hrs.
I am sure you would have tried every word in the dictionary to get you battery performing good, there's no harm in trying this one too. But, it's your call.
I am not saying that you should try it. This is what worked for me and I am sharing it with you.
My entire test was with 90% Volte and 10% wifi(I exhausted my data pack).
P.S: I have deactivated all the fancy stuff like glance, wake up on pick etc. Brightness at 35%. I am using dark theme for app drawer and wallpapers.
Hope this works for you.
My only gripe is how to reduce battery standby time. It seems rooting would be the only option.

This is hoax, it just shows all possible recovery animations, it doesn't do anything.

As I said in my previous post, I tried all the possible solutions to get a good battery. This was part of the last thing I tried and I got a pretty decent Sot. Hence I am sharing it.
The graphics setup may work for some, it may not for some... but for sure it won't brick your device. So no harm trying it.
Completely charging and draining the battery twice fixed my problems. I get good battery life on Pie.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience and giving me your help..I will consider this option
Try disabling adaptative battery and checking that it is dosable because it likes to activate itself.

This is exactly which I tried for the past two weeks and am getting mixed results altogether.
Medium usage 6h 30min SOT with 42 hour standby
Roughly 2 days since i charged and it has been connected mostly on wifi. That is a good mix.
Flat out if i use it from 100% then it will/may last even 9-10 hours SOT

You mean draining battery completely to 0 % ?
